Five new holiday-themed Scratch-offs and two Fast Play games, ranging from $1 to $10 with chances to win up to $75,000 instantly, are now available at retailers state-wide to individuals 18 and older.

With 30 chances to win one of four $250,000 top prizes on every ticket, Holiday Lucky Times 100 leads the way in the Texas Lottery’s 2021 holiday scratch ticket suite. The $10 game is loaded with more than $42.6 million in total cash prizes, including over 440,000 prizes between $30 and $200.

Loteries de Catalunya Becomes First EL Member to be RG Certified Under the New 2021 Framework

LAUSANNE, Switzerland (November 17, 2021) -- Committed to addressing illegal gambling and related criminal activities while minimising any potential harm on society, EL has developed a Standard that aims to promote the adoption of best practices across the EL membership: the EL Responsible Gaming (RG) Certification.

Congratulations to Loteries de Catalunya for being the first EL Member to be RG certified under the new 2021 EL Framework which was adopted at the General Assembly earlier this year.

During this interview with Mr Jaume Torrabadella, Director and CEO of Loteries de Catalunya, we hear all about how the lottery has been Responsible Gaming (RG) certified under the new 2021 Certification Framework. Loteries de Catalunya is the first EL Member to be certified under this new Framework.

Your lottery was the first to be certified under the 2021 Responsible Gaming (RG) Certification while the world still recovers from a global pandemic. How was the process to become certified? Did everything take place online or was it possible to have meetings in person? What are the biggest lessons learnt from such an experience?

Since the beginning of the pandemic, in March 2020, our organisation (like the rest of companies around the world) had to change all processes in order to continue with our daily work. The challenge was even bigger in our case since we were part of the Catalonian Public Administration with a quite with a quite rigid model where only face-to-face was considered. However, Covid-19 has been a turning point in many scenarios, with new organisational challenges, especially in the field of human resources, and has meant a new way of working between teams.

The RG Certification process was organised through online meetings with the teams from all involved departments, as well as with our consultancy company, SilverFish, who help us in the implementation process of the RG requirements and the preparation for the evaluation audit. And the majority of all these meetings and training were held online.

During this project we have learned how to work in an organised and multi-functional way, with follow-up weekly meetings with all departments as our RG Programme includes all areas of the company.

Another relevant point to mention is that we had the appropriate tools and sources to carry out this Project, not only having SilverFish advice and knowledge about RG actions and measures, for example, for specific training platforms or game risk evaluation tools, but also knowing that you can count on them if you need support or help in certain issues that we wanted to develop or improve.

As Loteries de Catalunya is the first EL Member to use the 2021 RG Certification Framework, how did you find the process? Could you tell us your story about this great achievement?

We were going to be audited in a short time when the European Lotteries (EL) published the new 2021 RG requirements. We checked and verified all the changes and the new criteria, and we finally decided that we were ready to be audited with the latest requirements so we could have the Certification under the new standards

The last few months have been frantic in our Lottery. We have transformed our legal entity that it was a part of our Public Administration to a Public limited corporation. That represented a lot of changes and work through all different departments: Legal & Compliance, Finance, Besides we were also with the RG Project. However, the entire team involved has been working hard and constantly to be able to obtain the Certification this fall, so we did a great job indeed!

Obtaining the RG Certification reaffirms our commitment to operate our activity according to the highest standards from the EL and WLA in RG. As a public social lottery, we believe that we have to act responsibly, being aware about the possible adverse effects that our games can cause to our players. That is why RG is and will be our main pillar of our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

What was the biggest challenge?

Considering the global pandemic situation, the challenge was finding the best way to monitor and control the entire project. However, as mentioned before, thanks to the high capacity of teamwork and collaboration of the teams we were able to set up an organised work methodology.

What did you enjoy about the process? What were the biggest highlights?

It has been a challenging, beautiful and creative project as RG criteria encompass many different aspects: marketing, digital channels, HR and Retail training... We have enjoyed the projects as we have learned new measures to accomplish and new points of improvement.

What advice and tips do you have to EL Members who are about to start their first certification?

Being RG certified is a way of reflecting our commitment towards all our stakeholders about the importance to prevent and detect excessive playing and protect underaged from gaming.

It is really important to communicate correctly the importance of this Project across the organisation. We did a relevant piece on that; committing and communicating the Project to all internal and external stakeholders, so everybody was alert about this achievement and what represents to us.

We are a public social lottery. Not only we want to be transparent doing our business, but also, we want to commit about doing business in a responsible way.

Share Repurchase Program

IGT's Board of Directors authorized a program for the repurchase of up to $300 million of the Company's outstanding ordinary shares during a period of four years commencing on November 18, 2021.

Repurchases will be made pursuant to repurchase contracts entered into with counterparties approved by IGT's shareholders, pursuant to which such counterparties will purchase ordinary shares for delivery to the Company. The timing and amount of any repurchases will be determined by IGT's management based on an evaluation of market conditions, applicable securities laws and other factors. These repurchases may be made pursuant to repurchase plans that meet the requirements of Rule 10b5-1 of the Securities Exchange Act of 1934, as amended. Rule 10b5-1 allows the Company to repurchase its ordinary shares at times it might otherwise be prevented from doing so under insider trading laws or because of self-imposed blackout periods.

The share repurchase program is expected to be funded through cash generated from operations. Any shares acquired pursuant to the repurchase program will be cancelled or held in treasury. The repurchase program does not obligate the Company to acquire any particular amount of its ordinary shares, and it may be suspended or terminated at any time.

Any repurchases of the Company's ordinary shares will be made in accordance with the authority granted by IGT shareholders at its annual general meeting ("AGM") to repurchase ordinary shares that is in effect from time to time. At its 2021 AGM, IGT shareholders voted to authorize the repurchase of up to 20,485,646 ordinary shares of the Company. Repurchases will be discontinued in the event the Company lacks the general authority to repurchase ordinary shares.

 

Evaluation of Potential Separate Public Listing of Digital & Betting Business

IGT recently established a dedicated Digital & Betting business segment, enhancing visibility to this high-growth part of IGT's portfolio of businesses. As a part of its ongoing commitment to ensuring appropriate strategic flexibility for its Digital & Betting business, the Company is also undertaking a legal entity and organizational realignment over the next 12 months designed to provide the Digital & Betting business with dedicated management, a more nimble organization and governance structure and the ability to pursue organic and inorganic growth opportunities. As part of this process, the Company may evaluate a potential separate public listing of its Digital & Betting business to further enhance its strategic flexibility while maintaining a controlling interest following the consummation of any such potential separate public listing. There can be no assurances as to the form and timing of any separate public listing or other strategic activity that may result from this evaluation or if any such listing or activity will be consummated at all. IGT does not currently intend to disclose further developments regarding its evaluation of a potential separate public listing for its Digital & Betting business until such time as a final determination has been made or IGT otherwise determines that further disclosure is appropriate.

This new partnership begins with the 2023-24 NBA season and provides the NBA with an equity stake in Sportradar. This agreement with the NBA, WNBA and NBA G League maintains Sportradar as the exclusive provider of NBA data worldwide that will help fans across the globe engage with the three leagues.

Sportradar will continue to be both the authorized global distributor of official NBA and WNBA betting data and the distributor of live game video that is available to international sports betting operators for fans to experience in real time. In addition, the new relationship includes expanded distribution rights regarding the use of player tracking data.

Record Overall Revenue Reached in October for Pennsylvania Gaming

Revenue for retail table games, I-Gaming and fantasy contests reach all-time monthly highs

HARRISBURG, PA:  Figures released today by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board show total gaming and fantasy contests revenue generated in the Commonwealth during October 2021 was $425,916,762 which represents an increase of 33% compared to revenue generated in October 2020. It also eclipsed the all-time monthly revenue high set in July of this year.

Sources of gaming revenue regulated by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board include slot machines, table games, internet gaming, retail and internet sports wagering, fantasy contests and video gaming terminals (VGTs). The Board has posted separate reports for these types of gaming on its website.

Total tax revenue generated collectively through all forms of gaming and fantasy contests was $172,331,973 during October 2021.

The Board is also providing a synopsis of revenue year-over-year by types of games:

 

Slot Machine Revenue

October’s gross revenue from slot machines at the casinos was $203,344,187, a 31% increase in revenue when compared to the $154,725,850 generated in October 2020.

The number of slot machines in operation for October 2021 was 25,717 compared to 16,611 machines in October 2020.

Tax revenue from the play of slots machines in October of this year was $103,855,959.

Table Games Revenue

Table games revenue for October 2021 was $89,078,876, an increase of 41% over October of last year when revenue was $63,335,846. It was the single highest month for table games revenue which had been set in July 2021 at $86,921,038.

Total tax revenue from table games play during October was $14,393,353.

 

Internet Casino-Type Gaming Revenue

Casino games offered online generated gross revenue of $102,891,983 during October 2021 an increase of 72% compared to October 2020 when revenue was $59,760,431. The revenue amount for this month also set a new high over the $101,251,771 amount in May 2021.

Tax revenue generated from internet gaming play during October was $43,302,294.

 

Sports Wagering Revenue

Sports wagering handle during October 2021 was $776,277,954 compared to October 2020 when handle was $525,802,524. The handle for this month was the single highest to date eclipsing the total in January 2021 of $615,294,827.

At the same time, the taxable sports wagering revenue figure for October 2021 was $23,532,816 or 36% lower than October 2020 taxable revenue of $36,776,926.

 

Video Gaming Terminals

Total adjusted revenue for October for video gaming terminals (VGTs) was $3,373,559 or 40% higher than October 2020. By the close of October four VGT Terminal Operators were operating five machines at each of 59 truck stop establishments.

Tax revenue collected from the play of VGTs in October was $1,754,251.

 

Fantasy Contests

Fantasy Contests revenue was $3,695,341 in October 2021, an increase of 15% over October of last year when revenue was $3,203,005. The October revenue figure was also the highest to date eclipsing the December 2019 total of $3,435,621.

Tax revenue collected from the play of Fantasy Contests in October of this year was $554,301*.

About the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board

The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board is tasked to oversee all aspects of gambling at 15 land-based casinos, online casino games, retail and online sports wagering, and Video Gaming Terminals (VGTs) at qualified truck stops, along with the regulation of online fantasy sports contests.

The land-based casino industry in Pennsylvania consists of six racetrack (Category 1) casinos, five stand-alone (Category 2) casinos, two resort (Category 3) casinos and two mini-casinos (Category 4).  Casino expansion will continue over the next couple of years with the anticipated openings of up to three additional Category 4 casinos. Svenska Spel Strengthens Swedish Youth Sports with 40 Million!

Today, we strengthen Swedish youth sports with SEK 40 million through Gräsroten. A total of 8,930 associations in 74 sports will share the money.

The fact that sports clubs around the country now receive a supplement in the club coffers through Svenska Spel's Gräsroten feels fantastically good. This means that more children and young people can get moving,” says Robin Quaison.

A total of 686,064 of our customers made an active own choice of associations that they want to support in Gräsroten, which is an increase of seven percent compared to the period for 2020. The trend also shows that more and more people choose smaller associations outside the three metropolitan counties, which Riksidrottsförbundets chairman Björn Eriksson thinks it is gratifying.

“Every kroner that goes to our sports associations, not least now after the pandemic, is an important investment so that they can continue to contribute to public health and community. Physical inactivity is a serious negative trend that has been going on for several years and participation in organized sports decreased sharply during the pandemic. In addition, the differences in physical activity are large between cities and rural areas and between socio-economic groups. More measures and more support for sports associations to get more children and young people moving are important to bring about a positive change. Getting young people to participate in organized sports has a positive effect on fitness, which can have a measurable effect on public health later in life,” says Daniel Berglind, associate professor at the Department of Global Public Health at Karolinska Institutet.

This is the ninth year in a row that we distribute multi-million sums to youth sports in Sweden through Gräsroten. If we add up the sum of all payments, Svenska Spel has paid out almost half a billion kronor to youth sports.

“Swedish youth sports have been hit hard by the pandemic. Many associations have gone on a saving spree, which has contributed to lost members and increased sedentary work among young people. Efforts are needed to turn the tide, and of course Svenska Spel, as a committed sports sponsor and a positive force in society, wants to be involved and contribute. Being able to contribute SEK 40 million to youth sports together with our customers feels very good,” says Patrik Hofbauer, President and CEO of Svenska Spel.
