ROCKY HILL, CT/August 12, 2021 – The Connecticut Lottery Corporation (CLC) today announced Rush Street Interactive (RSI) as its sports betting operations partner for the Corporation’s soon-to-launch sports wagering business. Through this 10-year agreement and subject to regulatory approvals, RSI will serve as the CLC’s exclusive provider of a state-of-the-art sports betting system for mobile, online, and retail channels, including as the operator of the CLC’s mobile/online sportsbook. RSI’s experience and strong financial commitment to the CLC reflect its dedication to being the Corporation’s best sports betting partner.

“Rush Street Interactive is a respected sports betting and gaming company that has established itself as a leading innovator in the industry,” said Rob Simmelkjaer, Chairman, CLC Board of Directors. “We are impressed not only with RSI’s successes in other jurisdictions, particularly in neighboring New York and New Jersey, but also its commitment to responsible gambling practices.”

“We look forward to working with the team at Rush Street Interactive,” said Greg Smith, CLC President & CEO. “We had 15 quality proposals from well-established gaming companies, and RSI rose to the top through the combination of its experience and commitment to quality products, customer service, and responsible gaming safeguards. RSI is a market leader in online casino and sports betting in the U.S. In 2020, RSI received the prestigious Global Gaming Awards Digital Operator of the Year award and was named Customer Service Operator of the Year in both 2020 and 2021 from the eGaming Review. According to a July 2021 report from Eilers & Krejcik Gaming, a gaming research firm, RSI was a top five online sports betting company in the United States per gross gaming revenues over the past 12 months.

Known for its PlaySugarHouse.com, BetRivers.com, and RushBet.co brands, RSI operates in 10 different states, including New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. New Jersey was the first state where RSI launched online gaming under the PlaySugarHouse.com brand in 2016, and, today, RSI is one of the largest operators of both online casino and sports betting in the state. In New York, RSI oversees the operations of the Rivers Casino & Resort Schenectady retail sportsbook, which was the first casino in New York history to accept a legalized sports bet and has been the leading commercial sportsbook in the state by revenue since its launch in 2019.

“We are honored to be selected by the CLC to bring sports betting to the state and people of Connecticut,” said Richard Schwartz, President of RSI. “This partnership represents a significant milestone for RSI, as the trust and confidence of a state-backed organization such as the CLC further validates the strength of our award-winning online gaming platform and customer service. Building on our proven track record of success in the tri-state area, where RSI was an early entrant in New Jersey and is the market leader in retail sports betting amongst New York’s commercial casinos, we are thrilled to collaborate with the CLC team to offer Connecticuters safe, convenient, and unique gaming experiences.”

In addition, the CLC has teamed with Connecticut-based Sportech to offer sports betting at 10 of Sportech’s current OTB locations, including Bobby V’s locations in Stamford and Windsor Locks; Sports Haven in New Haven; and the Winners locations in Hartford, Manchester, Waterbury, Torrington, New Britain, Milford, and Norwalk. The Connecticut Lottery Corporation may operate up to 15 retail sports wagering locations. Sportech is a trusted participant in the global gaming technology sector, providing technology and service solutions for lotteries and gaming companies and owning and operating gaming venues in the USA.

“We are very excited to partner with Sportech to bring retail sports betting to all corners of the state of Connecticut,” said Simmelkjaer. “Their existing locations and licensed staff will allow us to get to market quickly with RSI’s retail offering, and we look forward to working with them as we ramp up retail sports betting around the state.”

Andrew Lindley, Chief Operating Officer of Sportech PLC, added: “For over 25 years, Sportech has been the exclusive licensee of Connecticut’s off-track betting system and an established state gaming business. We are delighted to bring our established locations, local expertise, and licensed betting professionals to support CLC in delivering an exciting sports betting product across our retail network and assist in promoting CLC’s online and mobile channel.”

The news of the RSI and Sportech partnerships come on the heels of a successful 2021 fiscal year for the Connecticut Lottery Corporation, which saw the CLC generate a record $1.5 billion in total sales and transfer a best-ever $418 million to the state’s General Fund.

In May 2021, the Connecticut General Assembly passed legislation to authorize sports betting in Connecticut. Governor Ned Lamont signed the bill on May 27, 2021. The new law, in part, gives the Connecticut Lottery Corporation (upon issuance of a license from the CT Department of Consumer Protection):

  • The right to operate a statewide online/mobile sports betting skin with partners and vendors to be determined;
  • The right to operate up to 15 retail sports betting locations (including venues in Hartford and Bridgeport);
  • The right to sublicense some of those retail locations to the state-licensed parimutuel operator;
  • The right to sell draw games and Keno products online statewide (also known as “iLottery”).

Svenska Spel Stopped Betting on Bajen's Match: "Integrity Reasons"

STOCKHOLM, Sweden (August 12, 2021) -- Sports media business Fotboll Sthlm reports

it was not possible to bet on Swedish games when Hammarby drove over Serbian Cucaricki.

For "integrity reasons", the Serbian team has been removed from the playlists.

The same was true when Cucaricki won 3-1 over Bajen last week.

A number of readers contacted Fotboll Sthlm during Hammarby's 5-1 victory against Cucaricki in the Europa Conference League tonight to draw our attention to the fact that it was not possible to bet on the match at Svenska spel.

Some who wrote thought that the result and the big advantage at Tele2 arena seemed suspicious.

Football Sthlm has contacted Svenska Spel which confirms the game was stopped as part of countering match-fixing.

"Svenska Spel Sport & Casino did not offer games at the match. We also did not offer games on Hammarby's first match against FK Čukarički Stankom in the Conference League qualifiers as Hammarby's opponent is a club that we for integrity reasons have chosen to exclude from our range of games.

It is part of Svenska Spel Sport & Casino's work to counter match fixing and aims to ensure the highest possible gaming security and integrity of offered gaming objects for our customers.” writes Svenska spel's press service.

When asked a follow-up question about why Cukaricki has been suspended, the answer is:

“We have chosen to exclude them due to privacy reasons. Unfortunately, I can not give more details than that. "

NeoPollard Interactive Congratulates the Virginia Lottery on Stellar First Year iLottery Results

Virginia Lottery Smashed Industry Records Generating Over $807 Million in Total iLottery Sales

logo

LANSING, Michigan (August 16, 2021) – NeoPollard Interactive LLC (“NeoPollard Interactive” or “NPi”), jointly owned by Pollard Banknote Limited (“Pollard Banknote”; TSX: PBL) and NeoGames S.A. (Nasdaq: NGMS), is pleased to congratulate the Virginia Lottery on its remarkable first year iLottery results.

In Fiscal Year (“FY”) 2021, which ended on June 30th, topline total iLottery sales exceeded $807 million in Virginia, setting a new industry record by becoming the highest grossing first year iLottery program in North America. Virginia’s iLottery program has quickly grown to represent an incredible 25% of the state’s total lottery sales in just one year—a first in the U.S. lottery industry! The Lottery’s traditional retail sales also increased at the same time, growing by 15% and proving again that the iLottery channel is driving significant net new revenue for lotteries and is complementary to traditional sales channels.

In addition to record-setting sales, the Virginia Lottery’s online game offerings contributed more than $90 million in revenue to the Lottery Proceeds Fund, which directly supports Virginia K-12 public schools.

“The overwhelming success of the online platform in Virginia demonstrates that players have been eager to engage with us where they already expected to find us,” said Kevin Hall, Executive Director, Virginia Lottery. “Allowing players to fully engage with us when and where they want, on any device, has created an exciting opportunity to generate additional revenues for Virginia’s public schools. We look forward to continuing our partnership with NPi, working collaboratively to support our digital channel while also strengthening the cross-channel sales of traditional products at retail.”

“NPi is honored to recognize the Virginia Lottery for its success, and to power the iLottery technology, services, and games behind the exceptional results of the Lottery’s first year,” said Liz Siver, General Manager, NeoPollard Interactive. “NPi is the market leader in providing innovative and integrated iLottery solutions to North American lotteries that are proven to deliver exceptional results like those seen in Virginia. As a forward-thinking company, we continue to be committed to delivering player-focused solutions and comprehensive service offerings—such as the Power Suite of iLottery services, which includes Player Operations, Ignite Player Marketing, and Player Portfolio—to drive results for our iLottery partners. NPi commends the Virginia Lottery’s dedication and focus toward delivering engaging entertainment to Lottery players in support of maximizing contributions to Virginia K-12 public education.”

The Virginia Lottery’s exceptional first-year results can be attributed to its approach to designing an innovative, best-in-class iLottery program for players. For example, on day one, the Lottery introduced a promotion code on its retail Print ‘n Play product to boost player acquisition and encourage engagement with the new iLottery offering. Recognizing the importance of player participation and cross-channel engagement, the Lottery continued to implement promotions over the course of its impressive first year of full iLottery, offering players more flexibility on how and where they choose to engage, including retail-based payment methods and on-ticket promo codes for retail scratch tickets. Additional achievements in FY 2021 included the Lottery’s first cross-channel licensed game and the Lottery’s first progressive jackpot-enabled instant game.

NPi and its customer network lead the industry in top-performing iLottery programs. The Virginia Lottery’s unprecedented success proves the importance of modernization for state and provincial lottery programs and exhibits NPi’s expertise in delivering the best technology and industry-leading game content that collectively power the most profitable iLottery programs.

World Health Organization Warns of Fraudulent “COVID-19 Compensation Lottery Prize Scam

GENEVA, Switzerland (August 12, 2021) -- The World Health Organization (WHO) has been made aware of correspondences being circulated by scammers (acting under the name of Capital Finance, Inc. London), falsely notifying recipients of such correspondences that they have been selected as a beneficiary/winner of a US$1 million lottery compensation prize payment for losses and damages suffered as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

These fraudulent correspondences falsely allege that the so-called “COVID-19 Lottery Compensation Prize” is brought to you by WHO, in association with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF).

These scammers — who claim to be a financial management firm in London—falsely state that they have been appointed by WHO to process payment of the “COVID-19 Lottery Compensation Prize”.  In addition, these scams seek to obtain personal details and, in some cases, money from the recipients of such fraudulent correspondences, including (but not limited to) by requesting recipients to urgently send the scammers: (1) a copy of the recipient’s passport or proof of identification, (2) his/her nationality, (3) his/her occupation, and (4) the recipient’s mailing address, email address and telephone number, in order to enable the scammers to process the fraudulent lottery compensation prize payment.

WHO seeks to warn the public at large that the “COVID-19 Lottery Compensation Prize” is a fraudulent scam being falsely perpetrated in the name of WHO through different channels (e.g., via email, from Internet websites such as www.capitalfinanceinc.net, etc.). In this respect, WHO would like to clarify to the public the following:

  • The “COVID-19 Lottery Compensation Prize” is a fraudulent scam;
  • According to our records, WHO has never appointed or entered into any contractual relationship with any entity by the name of Capital Finance, Inc.;
  • WHO is not involved or associated in any way with the “COVID-19 Lottery Compensation Prize” fraudulent scam;
  • WHO is not offering or conducting a lottery prize to compensate individuals, whose names or contact details are purportedly selected at random, for the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic;
  • WHO does not conduct lotteries and does not offer prizes, funds, certificates, bank and/or automated teller machine (ATM) cards, or compensation for Internet fraud;
  • WHO does not request individuals to provide their bank accounts and/or other personal information such as copies of passports or identification cards, mailing addresses, email addresses, telephone numbers, or occupations.

WHO strongly recommends that recipients of correspondences such as those described above exercise extreme caution in respect of such correspondences and solicitations.  The public should be aware that identity theft and/or financial loss could result from the transfer of personal information or money to those issuing such fraudulent correspondence. Victims of such scams are encouraged to report the scams to their local law enforcement authorities for appropriate action.

WHO asks the public to remain vigilant against fraudulent emails and recommends the use of reliable sources to obtain factual information about COVID-19 and other health issues.

Washington Football Team Becomes First NFL Team to Launch AGA’s Responsible Sports Betting Initiative

Team Will Promote Responsibility During the 2021 NFL Season Across Multiple Channels

WASHINGTON, D.C. (August 16, 2021) – The Washington Football Team has joined the American Gaming Association’s (AGA) Have A Game Plan.® Bet Responsibly.™ public service campaign, making it the first National Football League (NFL) team to partner with the AGA to promote responsible sports betting.

The Washington Football Team will connect Have A Game Plan in-stadium activations, sponsored content on washingtonfootball.com, and campaign promotion on the team’s upcoming preseason radio and television broadcasts.

“With legal sports betting now permitted across our region, we are ensuring responsible gaming serves as a foundation for how we engage in this exciting commercial market,” said Washington Football Team’s Chief Partnership Officer Scott Shepherd. “We’re not only proud to partner with the AGA, the architect of Have A Game Plan, but also proud to lead by educating fans as they enjoy football in an engaging, new way.”

Sports betting is now legal and live in 22 states and the District of Columbia. During the NFL season, six additional states are expected to launch. The NFL has a long-standing partnership with the National Council on Problem Gambling.

The AGA launched Have a Game Plan in late 2019 to educate sports fans on the principles of responsible sports betting. As the first NFL team to join the campaign, the Washington Football Team joins official campaign partners DraftKings, FanDuel, Monumental Sports and Entertainment, NASCAR, NHL, PGA TOUR, Sightline Payments, Sinclair Broadcast Group, Vegas Golden Knights, and UFC.

Paysafe to Acquire SafetyPay

  • Latest acquisition enables Paysafe to further scale in the high-growth Latin American region, taking advantage of the nascent open banking eco-system and building on its acquisition of PagoEfectivo.
  • Transaction expected to drive multiple cross-selling opportunities across all Paysafe business units, enhancing long term growth prospects.

LONDON, U.K. (August 16, 2021) -- Paysafe (NYSE:PSFE) (“the company”), a leading specialized payments platform, today announced that it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire SafetyPay for USD 441 million in an all-cash transaction. SafetyPay is a leading payments platform that enables eCommerce transactions via an unrivalled choice of open banking and eCash solutions, operating primarily in Latin America. For Paysafe, this latest deal strengthens its strategic foothold in Latin America, building on its recently announced acquisition agreement with Peruvian payments platform, PagoEfectivo. Together the two acquisitions set Paysafe up to be the leading open banking and eCash solutions provider in Latin America, one of the world’s fastest-growing online markets.

Paysafe’s core purpose is to enable businesses and consumers to connect and transact seamlessly through industry-leading capabilities in payment processing, digital wallets, eCash and online banking solutions. It offers over 70 payment types in over 40 currencies around the world.

SafetyPay was founded in 2007 as an eCommerce payments platform with the mission to enable millions of consumers to use alternative payment methods (APMs), most notably bank transfer and eCash solutions, to make online purchases. It now has a presence in 11 Latin American countries (with additional coverage in Europe, see below*), and operates via an unparalleled network of banks, with over 90 per cent bank coverage, and over 180,000 cash collection points. It serves nearly 300 merchants primarily in the travel, entertainment, and digital goods industries.

Upon completion of the transaction, Paysafe will have scale and a leading presence in the fast-growing Latin American eCommerce market, where merchants and consumers alike are showing an increasing appetite to use open banking and eCash solutions to transact online. Further, with SafetyPay having established relationships with more banks in Latin America than any other payments provider, Paysafe will be uniquely positioned to capture share of the nascent open banking market by integrating further Paysafe services and solutions into the region’s payments ecosystem including its digital wallet and gateway capabilities.

On completion of the deal, the SafetyPay team will transition into Paysafe’s expanding eCash and online banking solutions’ team which is headed up by Paysafe eCash CEO, Udo Mueller. At that time, SafetyPay’s CEO, Gustavo Ruiz Moya, will become CEO, eCash for Latin America and Global Head of Open Banking, reporting into Mueller. The enlarged Paysafe eCash business will be able to offer eCash and open banking solutions in over 60 countries with over one million distribution points.

“We are very excited to welcome SafetyPay into the Paysafe family. The team has successfully built a market-leading payment platform that has become the de facto open banking solution for Latin America. We look forward to partnering with Gustavo and the team to continue to build eCash and online banking solutions across LATAM and beyond. Furthermore, by combining the capabilities and open banking network of both SafetyPay and PagoEfectivo with our existing solutions in processing, digital wallets and eCash, along with our deep expertise in specialized verticals such as iGaming, travel and digital goods, we can become the true market leader in the region and provide merchants with unique and powerful combinations to grow their business,” commented Philip McHugh, CEO of Paysafe.

“We are really pleased to see SafetyPay and PagoEfectivo become part of Paysafe and expand our payment solutions across card payment processing, digital wallets, eCash and online banking payments with a strong foothold in high growth Latin American markets. We see exciting synergies in key industry verticals like iGaming where we want to win. From the start, we have had a plan to grow in areas where we can achieve scale through operational efficiency. It is great to see the team execute and create more opportunities for growth,” commented Bill Foley, Chairman of Paysafe’s Board of Directors.

The SafetyPay transaction is expected to close in the fourth quarter, 2021. Paysafe’s banks have provided financing commitments and Paysafe intends to refinance these bridge facilities with new debt contemporaneously with the completion of the acquisition.

RBC Capital Markets, LLC served as exclusive financial advisor and Greenberg Traurig, LLP served as legal advisor to Paysafe. PJT Partners served as exclusive financial advisor and Quarles & Brady served as legal advisor to SafetyPay.
