Record Illinois Lottery Sales Provides $762 Million To Illinois Schools

The Illinois Lottery Announces Fiscal Year 2021 Results

CHICAGO, Illinois (Sept. 16, 2021) – As most Illinois schools have headed ‘back to school’ in one form or another in the past few weeks, the Illinois Lottery is announcing returns of $762 million to the Common School Fund to support K-12 education across the state of Illinois.

“Schools across the state are facing unprecedented challenges, adjusting to both remote learning and in-person learning during a pandemic. Now more than ever, our teachers and students need resources, tools, and financial support,” said Acting Lottery Director Harold Mays.

“The Illinois Lottery, with the help of its players and retailers, generates essential funding to support education in Illinois, and I’m proud to announce returns of $762 million to the Common School Fund during the 2021 fiscal year.”

Despite the ongoing challenges faced by the pandemic, the Lottery experienced record-setting sales this fiscal year. Lottery players bought $2.2 billion worth of scratch tickets and over $1.2 billion in draw-based games.

With the addition of many new players, digital sales through the Illinois Lottery website and app doubled over the previous year and total lottery sales grew by 21%.

“Our retail network of over 7,000 stores continues to play a critical role in the Lottery’s success. With a historic Mega Millions and Powerball jackpot run in January leading to over $1.5 billion in jackpots, our retailers had their hands full keeping up with the demand for tickets,” said Mays.

During the year, Illinois Lottery players from Jo Daviess County to Alexander County won over $2.3 billion in prizes, including the largest prize claimed in Illinois since 2017 - a $56 million Mega Millions jackpot won by a lucky player in Crestwood.

In total, 52 players claimed prizes of $1 million or more during the year - that’s a new millionaire every week for a year, thanks to the Illinois Lottery!

“And our retailers are winners too, with retailers earning over $186 million in commission during the year – including a $500,000 bonus commission check to the retailer who sold the winning ticket for the $56 million Mega Millions jackpot,” said Mays.

Camelot Illinois, the private manager of the Illinois Lottery, paid tribute to key partners across the State that enabled these positive results.

“Thanks to the efforts of our retailers, the strength of our technology, and an expansion of game opportunities bringing new players on board, the Lottery delivered exceptional results for the State of Illinois,” said Keith Horton, Camelot Illinois General Manager and General Counsel.

“We’d also like to acknowledge the leadership of the team at the Governor’s Office and key State agencies for helping Illinois navigate through exceptionally challenging circumstances, providing support to residents and retailers. As a result, the Lottery was able to remain operational throughout, generating essential funding for education at a time when it is needed most.”

“With a focus on offering great games, compelling advertising, an expansive retail network, and a modern digital offering, the Illinois Lottery continues to be a stable and essential source of funding for schools and good causes across the State,” Horton added.

The 2021 Financial Year runs from July 1, 2020 to June 30, 2021. The Lottery’s final Net Income figure for FY21 is estimated to be $779 million, which is still to be audited and confirmed. Additional funding over the amount to the Common School Fund will be returned to the Capital Projects Fund.

One New York Ticket Wins $432 Million Jackpot

Two New Jersey Tickets Won $10,000

TRENTON, NJ  (Sept. 22, 2021) – One New York ticket matched all five of the five white balls and the Gold Mega Ball drawn winning the $432 million Mega Millions jackpot.

The estimated cash value was $315.0 million. The jackpot is the 12th largest jackpot win in Mega Millions history.

Two New Jersey players matched four of the five white balls and the Gold Mega Ball drawn winning the $10,000 third-tier prize.

Those tickets were sold at the following locations:

 

• Morris County: 7-Eleven #11465, 294 Route 206, Flanders; and,

• Union County: Wawa #8397, 855 US 22, North Plainfield.

 

In addition, 30 New Jersey players matched four of the five white balls drawn making each ticket worth $500. Six of those tickets were purchased with the Megaplier option, multiplying the prizes to $1,500.

Moreover, 58,339 other New Jersey players took home $240,526 in prizes ranging from $2 to $600.

The winning numbers for the Tuesday, September 21, drawing were: 36, 41, 45, 51, and 56.

The Gold Mega Ball was 13, and the Megaplier Multiplier was 03.

The jackpot resets to $20 million for the next drawing on Friday, September 24, at 11:00 pm. All New Jersey Lottery Mega Millions tickets must be purchased before 10:45 pm to participate in the drawing.

Mega Millions tickets cost just two dollars; by adding the Megaplier option for an extra dollar per play, players can increase their non-jackpot winnings up to five times.

Mega Millions tickets are sold in 46 participating jurisdictions. Drawings are held on Tuesdays and Fridays.

LOTTO Rheinland-Pfalz Presents Successful Results for 2020

 

• Total sales of 423.2 million euros

• 702,000 euros annual profit

• 196 million euros distributed to winners

KOBLENZ, Germany (September 17, 2021) -- The Koblenz-based gaming company LOTTO Rhineland-Palatinate closed 2020 with a turnover of 423.2 million euros and an annual profit of over 702,000 euros. The balance sheet profit from the annual surplus and profit carried forward amounts to a total of around 1.4 million euros. This was communicated via video conference at a balance sheet press conference.

"In the first year of the corona pandemic, we proved to be crisis-proof and reliable," said Managing Director Jürgen Häfner. The Rhineland-Palatinate luck smithy achieved total sales of 423.2 million euros in 2020, including the brokerage of sales from the sports betting ODDSET. That means an increase of 12.7 percent compared to the already very good result of the previous year. "We have consequently continued the continuous upward trend of the past few years", reported Jürgen Häfner.

“In what is still a challenging environment, Lotto Rheinland-Pfalz is continuing on its way, strengthening the tried and tested and establishing new things with a sense of proportion. As a result, the company stands for the common good-oriented gaming industry in Rhineland-Palatinate and continues to fulfill the overriding state channeling mandate,” stated the Chairman of the Supervisory Board, State Secretary Dr. Stephan Weinberg. It is therefore to be welcomed that the State Lottery Monopoly will be secured and strengthened with the State Gambling Treaty 2021, which came into force on July 1, 2021. "During his term of office as the leading block partner in the German Lotto and Totoblock, Lotto Rheinland-Pfalz set the decisive course for this state treaty," emphasized the chairman of the supervisory board.

Product development

Particularly noteworthy is the positive development of the traditional LOTTO 6aus49 with an increase in sales compared to the previous year by around 16 percent to over 200 million euros. In addition to a few jackpot phases, Häfner named the successful product change as the main reason, which has been in place since September 2020: "By strengthening all prize categories, we have further developed our long-running favorite for the future."

The Eurojackpot lottery, which is offered in 18 European countries, also increased in 2020 and rose by around 18 percent to over 80 million euros in sales in Rhineland-Palatinate. "Here, too, we benefited from the fact that there were several high jackpots over a long period of time," said Häfner.

Distribution of profits

The total profit distribution from Lotto Rheinland-Pfalz in 2020 was around 196 million euros. A total of 69 players from Rhineland-Palatinate won amounts of 100,000 euros and more last year. Nine of them even won a million euros and more. A player from Koblenz secured the highest win with 8.1 million euros in LOTTO 6aus49.

Charges for the common good

Lotto Rhineland-Palatinate was able to make an enormous contribution to the common good again in 2020: the state of Rhineland-Palatinate received almost 143 million euros from taxes and income from the organization of state lotteries. "That is around 392,000 euros every day - money without which the implementation of many projects that are fundamentally important to society as a whole would not be possible," emphasized Managing Director Jürgen Häfner. Many organizations for the common good in Rhineland-Palatinate were also winners. The revenue from the lotteries, GlücksSpirale, Sieger-Chance and BINGO! a total of around 5.2 million euros directly to numerous beneficiaries.

At GlücksSpirale, in addition to the representatives from sport (German Olympic Sports Association, German Sports Aid Foundation, State Sports Association Rhineland-Palatinate and Sporthilfe Rhineland-Palatinate Foundation), these are the Federal Working Group for Free Welfare, the German Foundation for Monument Protection, and the Rhineland-Palatinate Nature and Environment Foundation and the State Music Council of Rhineland-Palatinate. Future-oriented sales channels

Lotto Rhineland-Palatinate proved to be stable in the past year primarily through the two central pillars of its sales success: the nationwide sales network with over 900 retail outlets as well as the further strengthening of its own Internet offer.

Terrestrial sales remain the strongest pillar of sales. Around 80 percent of the stakes are made there. "Our acceptance points make an enormous contribution to channeling in rural areas," said Jürgen Häfner, who rightly pointed out that Lotto Rhineland-Palatinate is the largest chain store in the state and is therefore represented in almost every fourth local community.

The rising trend in the Internet offer continued in 2020. Almost 32.6 million euros in stakes were generated via the website www.lotto-rlp.de - an increase of 32 percent compared to the previous year. A total of 200,000 customers have now registered for the Internet game with Lotto Rheinland-Pfalz.

"We know about the importance of the Internet area, especially about the importance of placing bets on mobile devices, and have taken numerous structural measures here," explains Jürgen Häfner.

"Above all, it is important to the company to coordinate the terrestrial offerings and the Internet offerings in such a way that all people who are determined to play can alternatively choose which distribution channel they would ideally use in which life situation," added the chairman of the supervisory board, Dr. Stephan Weinberg.

Help in the flood disaster

Managing Director Jürgen Häfner also briefly discussed the current situation in the current year at the balance sheet press conference. The flood disaster in the Ahr valley and the Eifel also deprived retailers of their business base. Here, the company was able to ensure that most acceptance points can continue their operations through unbureaucratic and fast assistance.

New York Jets Join AGA’s Have A Game Plan® Bet Responsibly™ Campaign

Team Will Promote Responsible Sports Betting In-Stadium and Through Digital Channels

(September 17, 2021) – Ahead of Responsible Gaming Education Week 2021, the New York Jets have joined the American Gaming Association’s (AGA) Have A Game Plan® Bet Responsibly™ public service campaign. The Jets will encourage their fans to “Know When to Huddle Up” through in-stadium and digital content that promote responsible sports wagering.

Recent AGA research found that due to expanded sports betting legalization and high fan enthusiasm for the season, a record 45.2 million Americans (18%) will wager on this year’s NFL season, a 36% increase from the 2020 NFL season. Among NFL fans, 37 percent plan to wager on the 2021 NFL season, including 47 percent of self-described avid NFL fans.

Skilrock Technologies’ LATAM Foray Gets a Boost with GLI Certification

Skilrock Technologies submitted documentation and full source code which pertains to the generation of random numbers. GLI inspected the source code for randomness and fair play. The Random Number Generator source code was found to be compliant with requirements for randomness and fair play. ST had obtained certification from iTechlabs way back in 2011 and obtained several certifications thereafter. Sazka Has Become Part of the Responsible Gaming Project
