Camelot Named as One of the 10 Best Large Companies & Picks Up Coveted Wellbeing Award in The UK’s Best Companies to Work for 2021

Camelot beats all other large companies to wellbeing special award, which recognises companies with outstanding employee wellbeing initiatives

U.K. (May 22, 2021) -- Camelot UK Lotteries Limited (‘Camelot’), the operator of The National Lottery, today officially placed 10th in Best Companies’ 100 best large companies 2021 and was the only large company to receive a wellbeing special award – celebrating the commitment Camelot has made to looking after its people. On top of this, Camelot took home an incredible three further accolades – placing 3rd in the ‘East of England’ list, 3rd in ‘Leisure & Hospitality’ and 1st in ‘London’s 75 Best Large Companies’.

Compiled by Best Companies, positions on the lists are awarded to organisations reaching some of the highest overall scores of engagement generated by employee feedback.

Camelot’s CEO Nigel Railton said: “I’m absolutely delighted that Camelot has been recognised on an incredible four Best Companies lists this year, and has moved up 25 places on the main list from last year. Of course, this hasn’t happened by chance. A great deal of work has gone in around the business over the last few years to make it one of the best places to work in the UK. And the fact that we were the only large company to receive a special wellbeing award this year just goes to show the positive impact our many employee initiatives are having on our Camelot people. I’d like to say a massive thank you to our superb People Team and the many advocates around the business, whom we’re fortunate to have working for us.”

Camelot’s People Director, Rachel King, said: “I’m so honoured to pick up this wellbeing special award at this year’s Best Companies awards. The wellbeing of our employees is a top priority for us, and has been even more so in the ongoing challenging circumstances. A number of initiatives are behind this award win, including our concept of ‘Camelot: A place to be you’ – which upholds one of our key principles that it’s important for people to be working in an organisation that not only allows you to be yourself, but also supports you in that quest.

“Unsurprisingly, we’ve also massively prioritised employee wellbeing during the pandemic – with an additional 15 days’ leave for parents to better help them manage the homeworking/homeschooling balancing act, and through access to a digital GP for all our Camelot people. The mental health of our employees is also incredibly important to us, which is why we had 16 employees formally trained to become Mental Health First Aiders. And there’s much more that we do and have planned, so it’s a real credit to have been presented with this award for all of our hard work – and I’d like to thank everyone involved in helping to make Camelot such a special place to work.”

Camelot has been the sole operator of The National Lottery since 1994. Under the company’s stewardship, The National Lottery raised more than £42 billion for Good Causes over the last 27 years. Camelot employs around 900 people across five sites in the UK, with its head office based in Watford.

To join the ‘large’ category list, an organisation must employ at least 200 full-time employees and achieve one of the 100 highest Best Companies Index scores in the category. Camelot has been awarded a 3 Star accreditation – which is Best Companies’ highest standard of workplace engagement, representing organisations that truly excel and have ‘extraordinary’ levels of workplace engagement.

Florida Lottery Reaches Landmark Milestone of $2 Billion in Education Contributions in A Single Fiscal Year

Largest Single-Year Contribution in the Lottery’s 33-Year History!

TALLAHASSEE, Florida (May 24, 2021) – Today, the Florida Lottery (Lottery) announced another record reached – $2 billion in contributions to the state’s Educational Enhancement Trust Fund (EETF) during fiscal year 2020-21! This milestone marks the first time in the Lottery’s 33-year history that education contributions for a single fiscal year have reached $2 billion. Additionally, the Lottery reached the $1 billion mark for this fiscal year in December 2020, one month earlier than any other year in Florida Lottery history.

“This is a tremendous accomplishment for the Lottery, but more importantly, for students and schools in our great state,” said Florida Lottery Secretary John F. Davis

Schafer Systems Inc.

“For the past three decades, the Lottery’s core focus has been to maximize revenues for the enhancement of education in Florida, and this year is certainly one for the record books, marking our largest contribution yet!

This historic milestone would not have been possible without the support of our loyal players, committed retail and vendor partners, and hardworking employees.”

The Lottery has experienced double-digit growth for ten consecutive months this fiscal year, with total sales to date 23%, or $1.52 billion, higher than the same period last year. In February, the Lottery set a national single-week Scratch-Off sales record of $193.5 million, driven in large part by the newest $30 Scratch-Off ticket, BILLION DOLLAR GOLD RUSH SUPREME.

These increased sales translate into record education contributions. In January, the Lottery’s EETF transfers exceeded $269 million – the largest contribution to the EETF in the Lottery’s 33-year history, beating the January 2016 transfer during the world-record $1.58 billion POWERBALL jackpot series by $31 million! This fiscal year, the Lottery has averaged approximately $6 million a day to benefit education.

The benefits of these Lottery dollars flow from community to community – from the Panhandle to the Keys. Since 1988, the Lottery has established itself as a committed and dependable funding source for public education, contributing more than $1 billion annually for the past 19 consecutive years while remaining one of the most efficiently operated Lotteries in the country.

The Florida Lottery is responsible for contributing more than $39 billion to education and sending more than 880,000 students to college through the Bright Futures Scholarship Program. The Florida Lottery reinvests 99 percent of its revenue back into Florida’s economy through prize payouts, commissions to more than 13,000 Lottery retailers, and transfers to education. Since 1988, Florida Lottery games have paid more than $75.6 billion in prizes and made more than 3,000 people millionaires. For more information, please visit
