LITTLE ROCK, Arkansas (October 3, 2019) -- Camelot Lottery Solutions’ annual 5km walk at the North American Association of State and Provincial Lotteries 2019 conference in Little Rock, Arkansas, saw delegates flock to support local charity Easterseals Arkansas.

The annual 5km walk, that builds on the positive legacy of the lottery industry in supporting good causes in local communities, took place on the morning of 18 September and followed a winding path along the Arkansas River Trail.

Camelot Lottery Solutions pledged to donate $100 to Easterseals Arkansas for each conference attendee who joined the walk. The total funds raised of $10,000 will benefit the local Little Rock community through Easterseals’ vital work.

For more than 75 years, Easterseals Arkansas has been a resource for people with disabilities and their families. Its mission is to provide exceptional services to ensure that all people with disabilities or special needs have equal opportunities to live, learn, work and play in their communities.

Montana Lottery Sets New Sales Record

HELENA, Montana (October 3, 2019) --The Montana Lottery had a record-breaking $60 million sales year last year – and paid out a record-breaking amount in commissions to Montana small businesses, too.

Preliminary figures from the recently completed 2018-2019 fiscal year show the Lottery earned $60.2 million in revenues last year, an increase of 6.7 percent over the previous year.  In addition, the more than 1,000 Montana businesses who sell Lottery products also earned a record-breaking $3.6 million in commissions during that time, an increase of 12.5 percent over the previous year.

The Montana Lottery is a Montana-only business. Everything we do – from the design of our Scratch tickets to the commissions we pay – begins and ends in the state we love,” said Montana Lottery Director Angela Wong.

This year shows that the efficiencies and fun we’ve incorporated into the products we sell are paying off.

The Montana Lottery was created by referendum in 1986. Since then, it has paid over $590 million in prizes and returned approximately $259 million to the State of Montana.

$11.9 Million in Prizes Won on Kansas Lottery Games in September

TOPEKA, KS (October 2, 2019) -- The Kansas Lottery announced $11.9 million in prizes were won on Lottery games throughout September. Of that, $9.8 million was won on instant scratch games, $1.2 million was won on draw games, and $857,280 was won on monitor games.

On instant scratch games, the Lottery had a handful of big winners who claimed top-tier prizes worth $10,000 or more anonymously. Two people won $250,000 on the new $30 Money instant ticket. One person claimed $50,000 on the $5 Super Red Hot Crossword ticket, and one person won $77,777 on the $10 Emerald 7s ticket.

However, a few big winners did decide to share their stories. Late in September, Alden Allen, known to many in his community as Santa Claus, won $10,000 on the $30 Money instant ticket and when Kylee Nikkel took her family out for ice cream, she ended up winning $20,000 on the $2 Double Bonus Crossword.

While September was a month of watching the jackpots grow, the Lottery had several winners on each game take home top-tier prizes of $1,000 or more. 

Powerball had $228,352 in overall prizes won, with two top-tier winners.

The monitor game Keno had $556,975 in prizes won across the state, and the game Racetrax had $300,305 in prizes won. 

Players have 365 days from the date of a drawing to claim their prize. For instant games, players have 180 days from the date a game ends to claim their prize.

Innovative New Lottery Games Now on Sale in Kentucky

Fast Play is a new series of games that are printed from a lottery terminal (like a Powerball or Pick 3 ticket), yet instead of waiting for a drawing to take place, players immediately know if they’ve won a prize.

With Fast Play, there is no playslip to fill out or numbers to pick – players just let a clerk at their local Lottery retailer know they’d like a Fast Play ticket, and it’s immediately printed at the terminal.

The first series of Fast Play games available for purchase is the Times the Cash family, offered in a $1, $2, $5 and $10 price point.

To play, simply match your numbers to the winning numbers printed on the ticket and instantly win the prize below that match. Win the rolling jackpot by finding the word “Jackpot” under one of your matches.

The rolling jackpot starts at $10,000, grows with every Fast Play ticket sold, and has the current jackpot amount printed on each ticket.

Unlike draw games that can only be won at specific times when drawings take place, Fast Play jackpots can be won as soon as a ticket is purchased. The Fast Play jackpot is only winnable in Kentucky and unlike the Powerball and Mega Millions jackpot, is not shared with other states.

The amount of the jackpot to be won depends on the price point purchased by the player – the $1 ticket wins 10% of the jackpot, the $2 wins 20%, the $5 wins 50%, and the $10 wins 100% of the jackpot.

Illinois Lottery Launches 2019 Carolyn Adams Ticket For The Cure

Specialty game has raised more than $13 million in the fight against breast cancer

CHICAGO, Illinois (October 7, 2019) -- October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and the Illinois Lottery has launched the newest edition of the Carolyn Adams Ticket for the Cure instant game, which helps raise funds in support of the fight against breast cancer in Illinois.

"Since its inception, this ticket has raised more than $13 million to support breast cancer research, awareness and education in Illinois," Illinois Lottery Acting Director Harold Mays said.  “The Illinois Lottery is committed to supporting good causes like this, and the Carolyn Adams Ticket for the Cure gives players a unique opportunity to join the fight.

One hundred percent of the profits from the Carolyn Adams Ticket for the Cure go to organizations throughout the state that help fight breast cancer in Illinois in the form of Illinois Department of Public Health grants. These grants help fund medical research, increase breast cancer awareness and aid organizations fighting breast cancer across the state.

As the fight against breast cancer continues, it’s important to note the strides we have made in raising awareness and providing support to those affected.” said IDPH Director Ngozi Ezike, M.D. “This program has benefitted so many of our most vulnerable communities in the fight against breast cancer, and we are excited to continue to be able to serve these communities with the proceeds from this Ticket for the Cure.

"On average, a woman is diagnosed with breast cancer every two minutes," said Sue Armato, Executive Director at The Cancer Support Center, a Mokena-based center that provides support and guidance to those living with a cancer diagnosis in the form of therapeutic and wellness programs. “Our programs, resources and services are invaluable to those we serve in the cancer community, and the funds we have received from the Ticket for the Cure help support those efforts.

Ticket for the Cure

The first Ticket for the Cure launched in 2006. It was renamed the “Carolyn Adams Ticket for the Cure” in 2011 in honor of former Illinois Lottery Superintendent (2003-2007) Carolyn Adams, who lost her battle with breast cancer in 2007. Adams was instrumental in helping write legislation that led to the Ticket for the Cure.

Each Carolyn Adams Ticket for the Cure costs $3. The ticket features a top prize of $50,000, and it is available for purchase at the more than 7,200 Illinois Lottery retailers across the state.

Dan is responsible for leading strategic relationships with some of IGT’s largest customers across the entire business, and he has consistently driven growth year over year. Prior to this role, he held numerous leadership positions in the Company, such as Director of Strategic Business Development, where he was responsible for P&L leading inside sales, business development, and casino operations. He began his career in gaming nearly eight years ago when he joined IGT as a Financial Analysis Manager for EMEA.

Dan recently completed a highly competitive MBA program at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, where he was the youngest business leader to be accepted into the two-year program. He continued to work at IGT while traveling to and from Chicago nearly every weekend to complete his studies. He received the university’s Thomas Covert Award for being voted ‘Youngest and Brightest’ in the program.

Gambling Commission Links Up with Birmingham Charity LoveBrum

BIRMINGHAM, U.K. (October 8, 2019) -- The Gambling Commission has announced a new partnership with popular Birmingham charity LoveBrum.

The Birmingham-based gambling regulator, which employs more than 300 staff at its Victoria Square headquarters, has become one of the charity’s patrons with staff now having the opportunity to volunteer for a variety of LoveBrum-supported causes in the city.

LoveBrum, which was established in 2015, benefits from funding through the National Lottery Community Fund which helps the charity to support good causes, volunteer-led initiatives and help projects across the second city reach funding. Charities it supports include Solihull-based Birmingham Dogs Home and mental health cause, Sikh Your Mind.

Sarah Gardner, executive director at the Gambling Commission said: “As an important employer here in Birmingham it is vital that we do all we can to support the local community.

We know the difference charities like LoveBrum can make to people’s lives so we are delighted to be involved and to ensure our employees can experience volunteering with a range of different charities and causes across the Birmingham area.

Sarah added: “Part of our role at the Gambling Commission is to regulate the National Lottery and help to maximise returns to good causes. Since its creation in 1994 the National Lottery has gone on to raise over £40bn for good causes across Britain, including the National Lottery Community Fund which supports the work of LoveBrum. We see it as the perfect link-up, not least because it is great to see how National Lottery proceeds are spent on good causes like this.

GambleAware Appoints New Chief Financial Officer

LONDON, U.K. (October 7, 2019) -- Peter Holt has been appointed as GambleAware’s new Chief Financial Officer. Peter was recently London and South East finance director at Health Education England, responsible for a £1.2bn budget.

Peter has extensive experience of working in the health sector having held this London and South East board level position at HEE for nearly ten years. Before this he was Director of the Supply Chain Transformation Programme at the Department of Health, responsible for delivering significant procurement benefits to the NHS.

In his role at NHS Health Education England, Peter was responsible for developing a financial strategy to ensure long term financial health, enabling HEE to continue to invest in workforce planning and the education and training of doctors, nurses and allied health professionals. Peter also led on the development of a new national education tariff, both regionally and nationally, sitting on the DH national tariff board.

Such knowledge and proficiency will complement the existing expertise and breadth of experience held by trustees and management, with regard to public health, the NHS and the commissioning of prevention and treatment services.

Peter’s health background also supports GambleAware’s ongoing collaborative relationship with the NHS and other statutory health bodies to ensure gambling is regarded as an important health and wellbeing issue.

This relationship is underscored in the recently published NHS Mental Health Implementation Plan, 2019-24 by the recognition of GambleAware as a key partner for NHS England and NHS Improvement in establishing a total of 15 new NHS specialist problem gambling clinics by 2023/24. Peter will initially work to prioritise the development of a long-term business plan to underpin the ongoing commissioning of the National Gambling Treatment Service, triaged by the National Gambling Helpline.
