Lottery, as it looks to firmly establish playing the lottery as something
everyone in the country can feel great about.
The new strategy and strapline,
Amazing Starts Here, which has been created by adam&eveDDB and
which will be rolled out across all of The National Lotterys games and
brands, aims to bring the purpose of The National Lottery to life by
highlighting the fact that it makes amazing happen for people
for the winners of prizes of all sizes and the Good Causes that The
National Lottery supports, such as charities, museums, the British film
industry and grassroots community projects.
The new campaign will break this
Saturday, 15th September, with a two-minute film during The X Factor on ITV.
The film tells the story of a hardworking fisherman whose wife strikes it lucky
with a winning ticket.
The ad, which was shot by the
director Mark Molloy in Macduff in Scotland, will be supported by a
multi-channel campaign with a series of TV, online, social and outdoor
ads featuring people at the moment they realise they are winners.
This will be quickly followed by
newly-created TV spots to promote Lotto Rollovers, which will feature
newsagents around the country in their shops celebrating the announcement of
the Rollover with everything from confetti canons to laser shows.
Further National Lottery ads will
air later this year, including a 60-second TV spot supporting a Good Causes
beneficiary and a new ad for EuroMillions, which will break in October.
The multi-channel campaign will also
encompass digital, social, print, cinema and radio activity with the new
Amazing Starts Here strapline also being rolled out across all
National Lottery touchpoints, from tickets and Scratchcards, through to
Hayley Stringfellow, Head of Brand

International Concern Over Blurred Lines Between Gambling and
BIRMINGHAM, U.K. (September 17,
2018) -- Global gambling regulators have teamed up to voice their concerns
about skins gambling and loot boxes in video games.
Fifteen gambling regulators from
across Europe, as well as Washington State Gambling Commission, have signed an
agreement to work together to address the risks created by the blurring of
lines between gaming and gambling.
Tackling unlicensed third-party
websites offering illegal gambling linked to popular video games is a priority
and the regulators are calling for the video games industry and technology
platforms to play their part in helping crack down on these websites.
Games providers must also ensure
that features within games, such as loot boxes, do not constitute gambling
under national laws.
Neil McArthur, Chief Executive and
signatory for the Gambling Commission on the declaration, said: We
have joined forces to call on video games companies to address the clear public
concern around the risks gambling and some video games can pose to children. We
encourage video games companies to work with their gambling regulators and take
action now to address those concerns to make sure that consumers, and
particularly children, are protected.
Neil adds: We want parents
to be aware of the risks and to talk to their children about how to stay safe

American Gaming Association Release New Research on Economic
Impact of Gaming Industry
Report shows 9.5 percent
increase in economic output; industry now supports 1.8 million jobs
WASHINGTON, DC (September 18, 2018)
-- Today, the American Gaming Association (AGA) released a
study examining the striking impact the gaming industry has on the U.S.
economy providing stable jobs to nearly two million Americans and
generating billions of dollars in tax revenue. This is the first comprehensive
report on the gaming industrys national economic impact since 2014.
Oxford Economics 2018 study
found that the U.S. gaming industry:
- Contributes $261 billion to the U.S. economy, a 9.5
percent increase since 2014;
- Supports nearly 1.8 million jobs, up from 1.7
million jobs in 2014; and
- Generates $40.8 billion in tax revenues to federal,
state and local governments.
Gaming companies across the
country are enabling long-lasting careers for their employees and making a huge
impact on their communities through innovative partnerships with local
nonprofits, volunteerism and the generation of revenue that supports critical
services. The industrys tax revenue alone provides enough funding to hire
692,000 new teachers, said Sara Slane, senior vice president of
public affairs for the American Gaming Association. Since our last
study in 2014, casino gaming has expanded into new markets, offered innovative
new entertainment options and enhanced its position as a key contributor to
local, state and federal economies.

Vice-Chair Hoscher Calls for Increased Action Against Unlicensed Online
Gambling Providers at National Level
BRUSSELS / Malta (September 17,
2018) -- On the occasion of the 12th Conference of the European Association of
the Study of Gambling (EASG) on Malta, ECA Vice-Chair Prof. Dietmar Hoscher
gave a keynote on the challenges of illegal online gambling and the need for
strong national actions.
As Hoscher highlighted, relevant
case law and secondary legislation at EU level clearly underline the principle
of subsidiarity and requirement for national licenses for the legal provision
of online gambling services without mutual recognition. Despite the successes
of some countries in stopping illegal gambling, the available data shows that
the provision of illegal online gambling is on the rise in many EU countries
where the issue is not yet sufficiently tackled.
The continued provision of
unlicensed online gambling services has led to an undermining of consumer
protection measures, regulatory efforts at national level and puts tax
contributions and funding for good causes at risk.
There is also a threat of links to
organised crime and money laundering in connection with illegal online
Reacting to these challenges,
Hoscher argued in his keynote that: Policy-makers, regulators and all
stakeholders involved need to join forces and stop the provision of illegal
online gambling. This requires strengthened enforcement of national gambling
legislation through blacklists, IP blocking and payment blocking, as well as
cooperation with online platforms and intermediaries. There is clearly a need
and willingness to cooperate between regulators, the licensed gambling industry
and other stakeholders to effectively tackle the issue.

the annual conference of the International Association of Gaming Regulators
