Maltco Lotteries in “2018 Year of Retail”

Maltco Lotteries Collaborates With GRTU, LRU, and Band Club Associations on a €400,000 POS Maintenance Financial Support Scheme

MALTA (March 15, 2018) -- Maltco Lotteries Ltd. dedicates the year 2018 to Retail. To this effect the Company launches a €400,000 POS Maintenance Financial Support Scheme, in collaboration with the GRTU Malta Chamber of SMEs (GRTU), Lotto Receivers Union (LRU) and the Malta Band Clubs Association, addressing all Agents.

The POS Maintenance Financial Support Scheme aims to upgrade the image of Maltco Lotteries Points of Sale network, operated by self-employed Agents under an Agency Agreement with the Company.

All Maltco Lotteries Agents will be able to participate in a POS upgrade process in which, Maltco Lotteries provides specific design guidance and financial support of up to 50% of the expenditure incurred by an agent, offering up to a €1,000 to every agent who invests in his/her Maltco Lotteries Point of Sale up to the same amount.

The Scheme will run from next week, whilst all Maltco Lotteries’ Agents will be able to submit their applications of interest. Maltco Lotteries Agents will participate on a first come first served basis from the date that their applications will be submitted to Maltco Lotteries offices in Iklin.


All entities involved, maintain that the Maltco Lotteries POS Maintenance Financial Support Scheme will provide a state-of-the-art entertainment environment for the player, a harmonised image across all Maltco Lotteries Points of Sale in the market, thus providing top notch service to all players.

Previously, Bouchot served as Business Development Manager for International Game Technology’s Multi-Player Series and Digi Deal product lines.

He also was the Executive VP and COO of TCS America, Inc. (dba TCSJOHNHUXLEY), where he was responsible for bottom-line operational management encompassing all aspects of manufacturing, sales, and finance. Bouchot also held several key management positions at Shuffle Master Gaming, including VP of International Sales, Director of Sales, and Regional Sales Manager.

He began his professional career at Tripp Plastics in Reno, Nevada, where he established the company’s casino sales division.

Lottery and Betting Operator OPAP’s Horse races SA in Strategic Partnership with Nicosia Race Club

Two additional horseracing meetings per week and common pool for players in Greece and Cyprus

ATHENS, Greece (March 12, 2018) -- The strategic cooperation of OPAP’s Horse Races SA and Nicosia Race Club was presented in a special event that was held on Friday, March 9 at Athens Hippodrome in Markopoulo. The event was attended by the Board of Directors of Horse Races SA and representatives of the management of Nicosia Race Club. The entire horseracing community, owners, Greek and Cypriot jockeys, as well as coaches, were also present at the event and expressed their optimism for the big step by Greek and Crypriot horse races.

In the context of the new partnership, which is already met with success during its first steps, players from Greece can bet on races conducted at the Nicosia racetrack every Wednesday at 15:30 and every Sunday at 15:00, and participate in a common pool.

OLG Selects Service Provider for Central Gaming Bundle

TORONTO, Canada (March 15, 2018) -- Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) has selected Gateway Casinos & Entertainment Limited (Gateway) as the service provider for the Central Gaming Bundle, following a competitive procurement process.

The Central Gaming Bundle includes OLG Slots at Georgian Downs and Casino Rama Resort. Gateway will have the opportunity to build a new gaming and entertainment facility in Wasaga Beach or Collingwood. The proposed new facility will be subject to all necessary approvals.


"Selecting Gateway is the latest step OLG is taking as we continue to bring new jobs and economic development to communities across Ontario," said Stephen Rigby, OLG's President and CEO.

"The investments Gateway will make in the central region will enhance the gaming experience for customers and help OLG increase its contribution to the Province of Ontario."

To OLG, the integrity of its procurement process is of the utmost importance. In order to ensure an open and transparent process for all proponents, OLG has engaged the services of an impartial Fairness Monitor to advise throughout the process and provide oversight on the fairness of the procurement.

While Gateway will be responsible for the day-to-day gaming operations in the bundle, OLG will continue to:

  • Provide strategic oversight of the Central Gaming Bundle and Ontario gaming marketplace -- including approvals related to material operational changes
  • Conduct and manage gaming in the bundle
  • Require compliance with applicable laws, regulations and standards
  • Be the owner of key player information
  • Require service providers to uphold the high standards of OLG's Responsible Gambling program, including the self-exclusion program
  • Make Municipality Contribution Agreement payments to host communities.


Gateway will be required to retain employees for a period of no less than 12 months in their current position and geographic location. Unionized employees will transfer to the service provider under the terms and conditions of their current collective agreement. Gateway will also be required to provide eligible employees with benefits and a registered pension plan.

OLG has entered into a Transition and Asset Purchase Agreement with Gateway for the Central Gaming Bundle, which sets out the customary closing conditions to be satisfied for OLG and Gateway to enter into a Casino Operating and Services Agreement (COSA).

OLG expects that the service provider will take over day-to-day operations in summer 2018.

Fortuna Entertainment Group Report Net profit in 2017 Increased by 86.4%

AMSTERDAM (March 15, 2018) -- Fortuna Entertainment Group N.V. announces its preliminary unaudited consolidated financial results for the fiscal year to 31st December 2017, prepared according to International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).

  • Total Amounts Staked in 2017 increased by 93.1% to EUR 2,007.1 million
  • Total Gross Win in 2017 increased by 87.4% to EUR 305.4 million
  • Total EBITDA amounted to EUR 55.0 million up 148.1% y-o-y
  • Net profit in 2017 increased by 86.4% to EUR 15.4 million


The strong preliminary financial results for 2017 reflect our growth strategy with investments into operational excellence, new platforms and regional expansion. Thanks to that, we recorded a substantial growth in all reported key indicators.

Our Amounts Staked increased by 93.1% yoy to EUR 2 billion, Gross Win amounted to EUR 305.4 million and EBITDA reached EUR 55.0 million a yoy increase of 87.4% and 148.1% respectively.

If we adjust for one-off costs related to M&A and Integration, the EBITDA increased 169.0% y-o-y,” said Per Widerström, CEO and Chairman of the Management Board of Fortuna Entertainment Group.

Fortuna, the leading Central Eastern European regulated fixed-odds sports betting and gaming operator present in the markets of Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Romania and Croatia recorded in 2017 total Amounts Staked figure of EUR 2,007.1 million, 93.1% more than in 2016. This increase was driven primarily by the growth in online, particularly in fixed-odds betting in all original countries, by online gaming in the Czech Republic and consolidation of new acquisitions of Hattrick Sports Group and Fortbet Romanian entities.

In 2017, total Gross Win reached EUR 305.4 million, an increase of 87.4% compared with 2016. The Gross Win increase was driven by Amounts Staked growth and improved profitability of retail sports betting channel as well as by the continuous strong performance of underlying key indicators. Gross Win margins improved in the second half of 2017 and especially in December 2017 thanks to favourable sport results and partially offset low margins in the first half of 2017 which were below average resulting in total Gross Win margin for 2017 of 15.2%.

Total consolidated EBITDA recorded in 2017 was EUR 55.0 million, up 148.1% yoy. EBITDA adjusted by one-offs related to M&A and integration costs was EUR 57.4 million, up 169.0% yoy.

In 2017 the Company recorded Net Profit for the period of EUR 15.4 million, 86.4% more than in the previous year. If adjusted by one-offs related to M&A and integration costs, the Net Profit would be EUR 20.3 million.

INTRALOT Receives Anti-Bribery Management Systems Certification ISO 37001

Playtech BGT Sports Unveils Retail Cash-Out Improvements

LONDON, U.K. (March 21, 2018) -- Playtech BGT Sports (PBS) has introduced several significant improvements to its unique retail cash-out tool.

Shop customers will now experience cash-out for a longer period, across more events and with improved margins on PBS’ proprietary self-service betting terminals (SSBTs).

The cash-out option will stay open for longer on matches with strong favourites, increasing the availability of the tool in multiple bets. Previously, players had to wait until traders had settled results, but the favourites price will now be factored in while the match is live, even if it’s not available as a selection.

Suspension times in-play have been reduced, significantly lengthening the time available for customers to both place and cash-out bets, driving stake turnover and operator revenue.

Tennis matches no longer suspend while players change ends and football matches go live much sooner after the occurrence of a match-changing event like a goal or penalty.

A further improvement will see margins now more consistent across market type and length of price. Overrounds are now shared equally across selections, allowing for more competitive pricing and a better user experience for bettors.

It’s expected the upgrades to the PBS cash-out tool will further enhance retail customers betting experience, while bringing the high street shop in-line with its online counterparts.

Realistic Games Adds New Account Managers

Supplier bolsters client support with double signing

READING, U.K. (March 21, 2018) -- Award-winning casino supplier Realistic Games has moved to bolster its client support services with the appointment of two new account managers.

Colin Weaver and Lidia Suero started their roles last week and will be based in the provider’s office in Gibraltar to help their operator partners on the Rock.


Weaver joins the team from Betsson, where he was Casino Insight Manager, after previous roles at Bet365, whilst Suero leaves an account manager role at Optima over the border in Spain.

PA Gaming Control Board to Accept Interactive Gaming Petitions By Casinos Starting April 16th

HARRISBURG, Pennsylvania (March 14, 2018) -- The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board today announced that beginning on April 16, 2018, and for a period of 120 days, licensed Pennsylvania Casinos can petition the Board for an “Interactive Gaming Certificate.”

If approved, a Certificate Holder may be authorized to offer interactive gaming in three categories:

  • peer-to-peer interactive games where players compete directly against other players, like poker
  • non-peer-to-peer interactive games where players compete against the dealer’s hand, which simulate table games
  • non-peer-to-peer interactive games which simulate slot machines


With this announcement, the Board’s process of issuing Interactive Gaming Certificates will begin as follows:

  • In the first 90 days, only existing Pennsylvania casinos may petition to offer all three categories; at an authorization fee of $10 million
  • From 91-120 days, existing Pennsylvania casinos may petition to offer one or more categories; at an authorization fee of $4 million per category


At the conclusion of the 120-day period, the Gaming Control Board may authorize a qualified gaming entity to file a Petition with the Board for an Interactive Gaming Certificate upon a finding of suitability.

Act 42 of 2017 allows for a total of 13 Interactive Gaming Certificates for each type of online gaming for a total of 39 certificates.


The next meeting of the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board is scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 21, 2018 in the PGCB’s Office of Hearings and Appeals located on the second floor of Strawberry Square Complex in Harrisburg.

Online Lottery Wagers to More than Double, Reaching $76 Billion by 2022, as Mobile Drives Demand

HAMPSHIRE, U.K. (March 21, 2018) -- A new study from Juniper Research has found that online lotteries will be disrupted by the opening up of markets coupled with a drive towards mobile offerings. Wagers placed on online lotteries will increase from $29 billion in 2017, to $76 billion by 2022 with mobile devices accounting for more than half of this by 2022.

Mobile & Online Gambling: Casinos, Lotteries, Betting & VR 2018-2022, found that there will be a doubling of digital lottery users, from 317 million in 2018, to 624 million by 2022, driven largely by the Far East & China. The research anticipates that the considerable Chinese online lottery industry will re-emerge during the period, alongside the launch of a South Korean digital lottery this year.

Western markets face disruption too. Juniper believes that the US is on the cusp of a wave of legislation that will facilitate online gambling, following Pennsylvania's landmark decision to allow such activities in October 2017. Juniper also identifies New Jersey, New Hampshire, West Virginia, and Illinois as those set to follow. For state-run lotteries, legalisation will likely allow online delivery, as well as pools between states, further driving participation.

Disruptors Challenge Traditional Players

However, the research found constraints, with traditional lottery providers, often monopolies in their home markets, now facing increased competition. Research author Lauren Foye explained:

"The rise of lottery betting providers will concern traditional players; Juniper calls attention to Lottoland, which saw revenues of $320 million in 2016. The company enables users to effectively 'bet' on a range of lotteries globally, users pay to enter and pick the required numbers. Whilst customers do not buy a physical ticket, Lottoland's insurance model pays out on any wins, should they occur."

Juniper found that these activities are a draw for consumers seeking better odds or jackpots from international games, and as such, advises traditional providers to re-evaluate prize structures and entry fees.

New Hampshire Lottery Will Not Appeal Powerball Ruling

CONCORD, N.H. (March 19, 2018) -- The New Hampshire Lottery will not ask Hillsboro Superior Court to reconsider findings or file an appeal in the Jane Doe v. New Hampshire Lottery Commission case, which allows for a $559.7 million New Hampshire Powerball winner to maintain her anonymity.

The New Hampshire Lottery issued the following statement:

"We respect the Court's decision and are satisfied to have a resolution. We are pleased that our winner has claimed her prize money and that she has already shared a substantial amount of her winnings with New Hampshire non-profit organizations-and has indicated plans for future donations. It is gratifying and humbling to see her commitment to the Granite State. We wish her and her family all the best.
