Loterie Nationale Welcomes New Addition to the Cash Family of
Games
WINNIPEG, Manitoba, Canada (July 18,
2018) -- Pollard Banknote Limited (TSX: PBL) (Pollard Banknote)
congratulates the Loterie Nationale (the National Lottery of Belgium) on the
outstanding success of its 20 Cash instant ticket, launched on March 17,
2018. Originally planned as a limited addition to its Cash family of games,
Loterie Nationale has decided to make 20 Cash a permanent part of the
family based on its overwhelming popularity.
Families of games are a major
contributor to Loterie Nationales instant ticket sales, traditionally
making up about 50% of total sales. The Win for Life family, which has been on
the market continuously since 1998, has long held the position of top selling
family in the country. Introduced in 2016, the Pollard Banknote printed Cash
family of games has consistently occupied second place, averaging more than 20%
of overall instant ticket sales. However, since the launch of 20 Cash,
the Cash family has accounted for an incredible 34% of total instant ticket
sales, becoming the first family to succeed Win for Life as the top selling
family of games. Not only are Cash family sales up, but overall family sales
have increased to account for more than 80% of instant sales.
 |
Loterie Nationales 20 Cash
ticket |
Following the theme of the Cash
family of games, 20 Cash combines Pollard Banknotes patented
Scratch FX® innovation with vibrant purple ink in a radiant swirling design
to amplify visual appeal and excitement at retail. The strong cash theme, laden
with euro symbols, stacks of cash, and call-outs emphasizing the magnitude of
potential payouts, commands player attention and intensifies anticipation. The
call-outs reflect the tickets higher than average prize payout and
special prize structure, loaded with mid-tier prizes that create memorable wins
and shareable moments.
Win for Life has been the
strongest brand since before I began working in instant tickets, and I have
always joked that I would retire when another family outsold it. In 2016, we
introduced the Cash family and it helped boost overall instant ticket sales
after a period of declining sales; but Win for Life remained the top
seller, said Wim Schoolmeesters, Business & Product Management,
Instant Games, Loterie Nationale. I am thrilled to see that the latest
addition, 20 Cash, has not only helped continue instant sales growth, but
has helped the Cash family out sell Win for Life! This feat comes quicker than
expected, so rather than retire, I will help the Lottery find new ways to
optimize its portfolio of instant games.
We worked closely with
Loterie Nationale to develop the design and prize structure of the Cash family
of games, including the use of our eye-catching Scratch FX® innovation, at
each of the 1, 3, 5, and 10 price points,
said Michelle Annandale, Director, Sale & Marketing, Pollard Banknote.
We are delighted to see the latest addition to the family driving
sales at retail and delighting Belgiums players with its strong value
proposition.
Established in 1934, Loterie
Nationale is state-owned, and aims to offer entertaining, accessible, and
socially responsible games that appeal to a broad audience. The Lottery prides
itself on being a modern, high-performing, cost-conscious, and sustainable
organization in all aspects of its business. Loterie Nationale directs a large
portion of its profits, totaling more than 185 million in 2017, to
support a variety of public programs and good causes in Belgium, such as
poverty reduction, scientific research, sport, culture, and local social
projects.

Gaming
Authority Considers Measures to Limit the Risks of the Increasing
Interconnectedness of Gaming and Gambling
The HAGUE (July 18, 2018) --
Separate the online offer of games and games of chance. Limitations of the
possibilities of advertising for games containing game elements. Setting age
requirements for such games.
De Kansspelautoriteit (The Gaming
Authority) thinks of these measures to limit the risks of the increasing
interconnectedness of gaming and gambling. That said Joop Pot, director of the
regulator of the games of chance market today (July 18, 2018) during IGB Live
at the RAI in Amsterdam, a fair and conference for igaming , playing games via
the internet (see also the integral speech ( pdf, 133 kB) ).

 |
Feasibility
The Gaming Authority wants to
discuss the feasibility of these measures with providers of games of chance and
games in September during a meeting. This meeting, for which the exact date has
yet to be determined, is organized by the Gaming Authority. Joop Pot called on
the providers of games of chance and games to participate in this meeting: 'The
best solutions always come from joint efforts. A multidisciplinary approach
provides for measures that are good for consumers, gaming providers, gambling
and supervisory authorities. '
More insight
The reason for raising this issue is
that games and games of chance become increasingly intertwined. This way, game
elements appear in games of chance and gambling elements in games. The Gaming
Authority published two studies on this subject last month , a literature study
and a quantitative study.
The interweaving of gaming and
gambling keeps regulators around the world busy, because it is becoming less
clear where games stop and gambling begins. It is very important for
supervisors to gain more insight into this, if only because they are only
authorized to supervise games of chance. Another important reason is that the
prevention of gambling addiction is an important public goal of the Gaming
Authority. The Gaming Authority is concerned that young people in particular,
especially if they exhibit risky and / or problematic gaming behaviour, cannot
easily distinguish between gaming and gambling.

COLUMBIA, SC (July 16, 2018)

The continued popularity of instant
scratch-off tickets and increased interest in local

for Powerball® and Mega Millions® were factors that contributed to

proceeds since the 2002 start-up exceeded $5 BILLION.
We are grateful to our
loyal players, hardworking retailers and dedicated staff whose contributions

Idaho
Lottery Delivers Historic Record Dividend; Surpasses $250 Million in Annual
Sales
BOISE, Idaho (July 17, 2018) -- The
single most successful sales year in Idaho Lottery history translated into the
largest dividend ever returned to the People of Idaho. During a
presentation in the Governors Ceremonial Office at the Idaho State
Capitol this afternoon, Governor C.L. Butch Otter accepted a
record-setting dividend check from the Idaho State Lottery Commission for $53.5
million on behalf of the citizens of Idaho. This years dividend is
$5 million more than last years dividend.
For nearly three decades,
the Idaho Lottery has been winning for our communities, our local businesses,
and certainly for Idaho Idahos public schools and the States
permanent buildings, Governor Otter said. Throughout my time
as Governor, the Idaho Lottery has maintained its focus on integrity, fairness
and fun while providing great benefits to the people of Idaho.
Todays dividend
announcement, and this past years achievements are the result of great
work from a devoted team of professionals at the Idaho Lottery, said
Jeff Anderson, Idaho Lottery Director.
Our success is made
possible by the continued support from our players and the collaborative
partnership of our valued retailers, 1,200 brick and mortar establishments who
sell our products every day of the year.
For the seventh consecutive year,
Idaho Lottery sales have increased, eclipsing the $250 million mark in a single
year for the first time in Idaho Lottery history. This years sales
record of $265 million is an increase of 10% over last years record sales
amount.
This years dividend also
increased by 10% over the previous year. At $53.5 million, it is the first time
the Lottery dividend has exceeded $50 million in a single fiscal year.
During the ceremony, Governor Otter
and Lottery Commission Chairman Mel Fisher presented Superintendent of Public
Instruction Sherri Ybarra with a record-setting, $33,437,500 dividend
check. Of that, $20,062,500 is earmarked for the Department of Education
for use by the districts in their public schools and the remaining $13,375,000
goes to the Departments Bond Levy Equalization Fund. Since inception, the
Idaho Lottery has contributed $466.5 million to these accounts in support of
Public Education in Idaho.
A well maintained school
supports a positive learning environment for students and the Lottery funding
helps support that by providing dedicated funding to tackle improvement
projects, Superintendent Sherri Ybarra said.
Governor Otter and Commissioner
Fisher also presented a record dividend check for $20,062,500 to the Department
of Administrations Permanent Building Fund Advisory Council Chairman Dee
Jameson. This is the single largest dividend provided to the Permanent
Building Fund in Idaho Lottery history.
The permanent Building Fund
is pleased and thankful to receive the largest proceeds check ever presented in
the history of the Idaho Lottery, said Permanent Building Fund
Advisory Council Chairman Dee Jameson. These funds will be applied to
a growing backlog of needs to our universities and colleges as well as our
other State agencies. The Permanent Building Fund Advisory Council will put
these funds to the best benefit for the citizens of Idaho served by those
schools and agencies. Thank You.
Being the last dividend presentation
Governor Otter will officially participate in with the Lottery, Director
Anderson presented the Governor with his own personal honorary
Scratch Ticket: Butch Cashidy. During Governor
Otters tenure, the Idaho Lottery has returned $512,450,000 over
61% of the Lotterys historical total.

Kentucky Lottery Again Breaks Sales and Dividend Records in
FY18
LOUISVILLE, Kentucky (July 17, 2018)
-- For the second year in a row, sales of Kentucky Lottery tickets have
exceeded a billion dollars in a single fiscal year.
For FY18 which ended June 30,
overall lottery sales were $1,042,512,000. This is the largest sales figure in
Kentucky Lottery history, and is a $42 million (4.2%) jump over last
years record-breaking number.
Scratch-off tickets once again were
the largest individual game category, finishing the year at $613.1 million.
This is a $9.3 million (1.5%) increase from the previous year.
Mega Millions saw the largest
percentage increase of any game, rising 36.9% ($10.7 million) to $39.8
million.
 |
The increase was due in large part
to several large jackpot runs over the course of FY18. Powerball also saw solid
jackpot performance, helping that game realize $77.9 million in sales (up
8.0%).
Daily draw games continued to
perform strongly, as Pick 3 sales rose to $149.7 million (up 3.0%) and Cash
Ball 225 sales rose to $11.5 million (up 10.7%). Pick 4 sales declined slightly
to $43.5 million (down 2.6%).
Keno continued its positive growth
trend, ending the year with $82.8 million (up 9.3%). iLottery internet sales
also rose from $5.2 million in FY17 to $10.2 million in FY18.
Several new initiatives really
helped push sales to this record-breaking level, said KLC President and
CEO Tom Delacenserie. An increased emphasis on marketing and in-store
messaging, changes in prize structures that players really liked, and new
measures implemented by our outstanding staff and retailers are the reason for
this increase. FY18 was a year where we laid the groundwork for continued
success, so we look to continue this growth pattern into FY19.
Transfers to the Commonwealth were
also at a record level - $262.8 million, an increase of $11.2 million.
The Kentucky Lottery has earned more
than $5.1 billion for the Commonwealth since 1989. KLC dividends pay for
college scholarships, grants and literacy programs. Visit

"Mobile First was not just a
thought of us, but a consistent commitment. Each design step was initially
accepted exclusively in the mobile version. Switching from small to large is
not a problem, but not the other way around, "says management spokesman
Axel Holthaus.
LOTTO. de is the service and
information platform of the 16 state lottery companies. In 2012, it was
established. It received its first relaunch in early 2015. Right from the
start, LOTTO Niedersachsen is the leading lottery company for the website.
About LOTTO. de may be filled out on the website of the respective
Landlotteriegesellschaft - after all, gambling is a matter of country.
"We wanted to relaunch LOTTO. de

Sven Osthoff.
The site was developed as a
so-called Progressive Web App, so that the website behaves much like an app and
most functions are also available in offline mode - for an optimal app feeling.
The loading times are very fast. Furthermore, the design has been completely
redesigned to present each of the individual products such as LOTTO 6aus49 or
Euro Jackpot as an independent lottery brand emotionally - because LOTTO is
more than the traditional LOTTO 6aus49.

Revised Draft Online Gambling Ad Rules Released for
Comment
SYDNEY, Australia (July 12, 2018) --
Amended restrictions aimed at protecting Australian children from gambling
promotional content during live sport that is streamed online have been
proposed by the Australian Communications and Media Authority.
The proposed restrictions require a
safe zone across traditional and new media platforms during times
when children are more likely to be a part of the audience.
The revised draft rules, which are
being developed by the ACMA, prohibit gambling advertising during live sport
that is streamed online between 5.00 am and 8.30 pm and restrict gambling
advertising at other times. Similar rules have been in place across
broadcasting platforms since 30 March 2018.
The revised draft rules take into
account stakeholder comments received during a consultation on an earlier draft
released in April 2018. Areas of proposed change include the following:
- enhanced flexibility for providers in notifying
end-users of the scheduled start of a sporting event
- removal of a previously proposed class exemption
for small online content service provider
- restriction of a proposed exemption for
age-restricted services to providers that are Australian-licensed wagering
operators
- a new exception from breach in certain
circumstances that are beyond the control of a service provider
- an extended 30-day implementation period before the
new rules come into force
Submissions on the revised draft
rules will be accepted until 26 July 2018.

Statement on Italys Proposed Gambling Ban
BRUSSELS, Belgium (July 16, 2018) --
One of the important benefits of gambling advertising is that it directs
Italian customers towards those gambling operators who are licensed to operate
and comply with the rules in Italy.

Without advertising black market
gambling will increase with customers accessing websites which are not
licensed in Italy and operate outside the regulated framework, including the
legal protective safeguards for consumers.
No other country in Europe currently
bans gambling advertising precisely for this very reason.
A ban on advertising will badly
affect Italian sports. Each year gambling operators contribute about 120m
to sponsor sports teams and leagues in Italy, including several teams in Serie
A.
This sponsorship is important to
these teams and will be put in jeopardy. That is why we have already seen a
strong reaction from the Serie A to the proposal
We would also question the
practicality of introducing a total ban on advertising as a result of the
cross-border nature of the internet and television. Italian citizens will
continue to see gambling advertising, except that those ads will advertise
websites that are not licensed in Italy.
We strongly support measures to
clamp down on irresponsible gambling advertising in order to protect consumers
but a total ban on advertising is counterproductive to this.
The Government should instead focus
on encouraging responsible gambling advertising which sufficiently directs
consumers to the regulated operators and at the same time does not entice
problem gamblers or young people to gamble.
