IGT and Scientific Games Corporation Sign Cross-Licensing Agreement

LONDON and LAS VEGAS (September 5, 2017) -- International Game Technology PLC ("IGT") (NYSE: IGT) and Scientific Games Corporation ("Scientific Games") (NASDAQ: SGMS), holders of the two largest slot game feature patent portfolios in North America, today announced that they had signed a patent cross-licensing agreement. Under the agreement, Scientific Games and IGT will be able to offer games using patented game features from each other's portfolios, as well as those of other members of the IGT slot game features pool. Financial terms of the agreement have not been disclosed.

The Florida Lottery Kicks Off Football Season With The Launch Of The Gameday Cash Promotion!

Registration for the 16th CIBELAE Congress in Panama is Now Open

PANAMA (September 1, 2017) -- The event will take place this next October 10-13 at the Hard Rock Hotel Panama and will be hosted by the National Charitable Lottery of Panama and CIBELAE.

This is the 16th CIBELAE Congress called “The Game is Lived without Borders.” Anyone interested in attending can register and see the agenda of activities at www.cibelae2017.com.

This time not only will attendees be offered two days of training, but they will also be able to walk around a major trade show area and meet the authorities who operate and regulate gaming activities in the region, since CIBELAE will hold its biennial Meeting of Members with all its members in order to decide who will be the new authorities in the Board of Directors that will govern during the 2018-2019 period.

Next to the Hard Rock Hotel Panama Megapolis is the Megapolis Convention Center in the Multicentro Shopping Mall, which is directly connected through high walkways. An area has been reserved there for the trade show area located in front of the access to the conference rooms.

FY 2017-2018 - Loto-Québec Ends Another Quarter with Good Results

MONTRÉAL, Quebec, Canada (September 1, 2017) -- FY 2017-2018 started off well for Loto-Québec. First quarter results show that consolidated revenue reached $882.4 million, up by $51.8 million (+6.2%) compared to the same quarter last year. Net income was $325.1 million, or an increase of $26.6 million (+8.9%).

LOTTERIES

  • The Canada-wide Grande Vie (Daily Grand) lottery, launched in October 2016, has been very popular in Québec, with sales of $18.0 million during the first quarter. Québec's 34.5% market share is particularly impressive.
  • Lotto Max and Lotto 6/49 have performed very well thanks to the greater number of major jackpots offered and higher sales volumes for each prize level, which also resulted in more winners.
  • Scratch tickets (+8.6%) and event betting (+20.3%) generated considerably more sales.
  • Some 4,600 prizes or prize shares worth over $1,000 were paid to lottery winners, including 31 prizes worth over $1 million.

 

CASINOS

  • Casinos report higher revenues and patronage, and clientele is expanding.
  • Patronage has markedly increased at the Casino de Charlevoix, where 28,000 more visits (+14.9%) were recorded than during the first quarter of 2016-2017.
  • Initiatives to promote and renew gaming and entertainment offerings continue to pay off in casinos and online.

 

GAMING ESTABLISHMENTS

  • The sector – which includes video lottery terminals in bars and brasseries as well as gaming, bingo and Kinzo halls – reported higher revenues, thanks mainly to excellent performance in gaming halls.
  • The reconfiguration of the video lottery terminal network is ongoing.

 

ONLINE GAMING

  • Revenues from Loto-Québec's online gaming site, all games combined, reached $24.5 million, or an increase of $7.3 million (+42.3%).
  • Work to improve navigation flow between product families continues.

 

Finally, Loto-Québec is proud to announce that the World Lottery Association (WLA) has renewed its Security Control Standard Certification this spring. Valid until June 2020, the certification confirms that the Corporation rigorously applies internationaly-recognized best practices relating to gaming activity security and integrity.

The updated Mega Millons game is $2 for a single wager. This is the first price adjustment since the first ticket was sold in 2002, more than 15 years ago. Sales of the Mega Millions game started in Kansas in January 2010.

New wager type – “Just the Jackpot”

Jackpot players will love this exciting new wager type that allows them to play specifically for the jackpot only. At a price of $3, the player will receive two plays for a chance to win the jackpot only. That’s two plays for $3.

The enhanced Mega Millions game is designed to bring more value and excitement to players,” said Kansas Lottery Executive Director Terry Presta. “They will see Mega Millions jackpots start higher and climb faster, and the ‘Just the Jackpot’ option gives players a brand new way to play they’ve never had before.”

In the enhanced version of Mega Millions, players will pick (or have the computer pick) five numbers out of 70 and one number (the Megaball) out of 25.  In the current Mega Millions game, players pick five numbers out of 75, and one number out of 15.

Mega Millions will continue to have two drawings per week on Tuesdays and Fridays in the 46 lottery jurisdictions that offer Mega Millions to their players.

The last time the Mega Millions game was changed was October 2013. This game change will affect Kansas players who like to purchase tickets for multiple consecutive drawings. To prepare, the Kansas Lottery is “stepping down” the number of consecutive Mega Millions drawings players can purchase after the September 8 drawing until October 28 when sales begin for the new Mega Millions game.

West Virginia Lottery Signs Seven-Year Contract with IGT

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (August 31, 2017) --The West Virginia Lottery and IGT Global Solutions Corporation have entered into a seven-year contract which will provide the West Virginia Lottery with a new traditional-lottery central system, new lottery retail and self-service customer terminals, a redundant, multi-technology communications network, a Lottery mobile convenience app, and ongoing services.

The contract, which is slated to start on June 28, 2018, allows for three one-year renewal options and is the result of a recent procurement process.

We are excited about our continued partnership with IGT. The new mobile convenience app, technology and services that this agreement will bring to all of our stakeholders is tremendous,” West Virginia Lottery Director Alan Larrick said. “This agreement will allow us to improve our operations, improve the player experience, and maximize our return from traditional lottery to the people of West Virginia.”

The convenience app for mobile phone and tablet users will provide a variety of services to West Virginia Lottery players, and will be both developed and maintained by IGT.

The Mobile App will be launched in conjunction with the Lottery gaming system conversion next year. 

This new mobile solution will provide Lottery players with an easy and convenient platform to obtain game information, check tickets for prize redemption at retail, create digital play slips that generate QR codes to help speed transactions and ease of play, as well as provide the Lottery with seamless integration into IGT’s new Aurora gaming system platform.

The Lottery will receive several components of IGT’s Aurora™ platform including Aurora Navigator back-office applications, IGT’s Aurora Performance Intel solution, comprehensive business intelligence and analytics tool that provides detailed insights, and IGT’s Aurora Retailer Wizard solution that will help West Virginia Lottery retailers more effectively manage their businesses, interact with the Lottery, and drive results.

The West Virginia Lottery will also have Aurora OnePlace that will provide Lottery field sales personnel with updated tools for sales and inventory management at retail locations across the State.

The Lottery will also receive new equipment at retail, including IGT’s full function Altura™ Flex draw-based lottery terminal offering a smaller footprint to optimize retail space and functionality for retailers, and IGT’s Aurora™ MultiMedia in-store signage.

The Lottery will also benefit from an enhanced communications solution for more than half of its retailer network with IGT’s patented Dual Comm Inside, an innovative pairing of next-generation VSAT technology with 4G cellular, to offer the highest network availability in the lottery industry.

IGT will maintain its primary and backup data centers in West Virginia, providing services to the West Virginia Lottery including installation and maintenance of the new system platform, terminals, and communications network; retailer training; field services; telemarketing sales and services; and instant ticket warehousing and distribution.

IGT also recently signed a four-year contract with the West Virginia Lottery to provide all of the Lottery’s instant ticket printing business, following a separate competitive bid process.

IGT has partnered with the West Virginia Lottery to provide services since 2009.

Fortuna Reports EUR 720.7m in Amounts Staked in H1 2017, Up 40.9 Percent

AMSTERDAM/WARSAW/PRAGUE  (September 1, 2017) -- Fortuna Entertainment Group N. V., the leading Central European regulated multi-channel fixed odds betting and gaming operator, has announced preliminary unaudited consolidated results for the first half of 2017.

  • Total Amounts Staked increased by 40.9 percent to EUR 720.7m in H1 2017
  • Total Gross Win for this period grew by 24.5 percent to EUR 100.2m
  • Total EBITDA decreased by 22 percent to EUR 7.6m

 

During the first half of the year, the volume of bets accepted by the Group continued to grow rapidly, reaching EUR 720.7m, up 40.9 percent compared to the same period the previous year. This strong growth was the result of solid performances in all traditional markets where Fortuna operates. The recently acquired Hattrick Sports Group Ltd., operating in Romania, Croatia and other countries, also contributed. Our operating profitability, as measured by EBITDA, was mainly influenced by the one-off costs associated with our expansion across the CEE region, coupled with integration into the Group of recently acquired business operations,” said Per Widerström, CEO and Chairman of the Board, Fortuna Entertainment Group N.V.

In the first six months of 2017, Fortuna recorded total Amounts Staked of EUR 720.7m, which, compared with the same period the previous year, is an increase of 40.9 percent.

This strong growth in the volume of accepted bets was mainly driven by continued expansion in online betting across all markets, including online gaming in the Czech Republic.

It was also supported by the performance of Hattrick Sports Group Ltd., consolidated since the end of May 2017.

During the first six months of 2017 Fortuna’s Gross Win increased by 24.5 percent year on year to EUR 100.2m.

The growth in Gross Win was mainly driven by an expansion of the online side of the Group’s gaming business, which is characterised by a lower margin.

Fortuna Entertainment Group’s EBITDA for the first half of 2017 was EUR 7.6m, 22 percent lower than during the same period the previous year.

EBITDA was significantly affected by one-off costs associated with expansion across the CEE region and the integration into the Group of recently acquired business operations.

Excluding these one-off costs, EBITDA would have increased by about 8 percent year on year.

The Group’s total net profit for H1 2017 was EUR 2.5m, 53.1 percent lower than H1 2016 figures. This decrease was caused by the aforementioned one-off expansion and integration costs as well as one-off costs relating to the refinancing of the Group’s external debt.
