Government Report Into Internet Poker:  Svenska Spel’s Measures for Responsible Gaming Reduce Risks

SWEDEN (April 8, 2008) -- The Government report into Svenska Spel’s Internet Poker was presented today. The report confirms that Svenska Spel’s tools for responsible gaming work well and are appreciated by the players. There are also proposals for further tools for responsible gaming – proposals that Svenska Spel considers to be good and which will be implemented during the year.

The report also suggests that it would be good for Svenska Spel to be given permission to cooperate with state-controlled, national gaming companies in other countries.

The Government’s report into Svenska Spel’s Internet Poker, which was presented today, clearly shows that Svenska Spel’s measures for responsible gaming have had an effect. The proportion of players with risky or problematic gaming habits is considerably lower among those who only play at Svenska Spel. The proportion of players with “more serious” problems is highest among those who only play with companies outside the Swedish regulatory framework.

The report also establishes that customers are positive to Svenska Spel’s measures for responsible gaming. Eight out of ten players think it is good that they have to set limits when they play Svenska Spel’s Internet Poker. Seven out of ten think it is positive that they have to put time limits on their playing.

The report also takes a positive view on the possibility of allowing Svenska Spel’s customers to play together with foreign Internet poker players on international networks. This would probably lead to a larger proportion of players playing on the best Internet site from the perspective of responsible gaming.

This proposal is completely in line with our channelisation philosophy that it is better to play on a responsible and controlled gaming site than to play for actors not covered by terms and conditions that protect the players,” says Svenska Spel’s MD Jesper Kärrbrink.

The report establishes that Svenska Spel has clearly complied with all the parts of the terms and conditions of the Government's licence in line with the high ambitions for gaming responsibility.

The report also establishes that Svenska Spel has been successful in its assignment to channel the gaming interest, with the help of measures for responsible gaming, to more than a third of the market.

New “play-in-moderation tools” introduced

By the beginning of May, a deposit budget will be introduced for all games at svenskaspel.se. This means that the player must always decide on a maximum amount of money he/she wants to play for per month. It is not possible to play for more money than a player states in his/her personal budget. The deposit budget function has been available since the start on Svenska Spel’s Internet Poker. Now, all of Svenska Spel’s Internet customers will have access to tools that give them an even greater opportunity to play in moderation and thereby keep their playing under control.

Shortly thereafter, it will be time to introduce the “play-in-moderation tool” proposed in the report, i.e., regular information for the poker players on their own accumulated winnings or losses calculated in SEK.

Scientific Games Awarded 4-Year Paragon Casino Race Book Contract

NEW YORK, USA (April 22, 2008) -- Scientific Games (Nasdaq: SGMS) announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary Autotote Enterprises, Inc. has signed a four-year deal to supply race book venue management services to the Tunica-Biloxi Tribe of Louisiana for the Paragon Casino Resort in Marksville, Louisiana. The Paragon Casino Resort has more than 2,000 slot machines, 46 table games and poker. The Tunica-Biloxi Tribe of Louisiana is the owner and operator of the Central Louisiana destination resort and convention, which opened in 1994.

Georgia Lottery Lets Fans Vote For Most Aggressive Rider at 2008 Tour de Georgia

ATLANTA, Georgia, USA (April 17, 2008) -- Georgia Lottery Corporation announces today that it will continue sponsorship of the 2008 Tour de Georgia presented by AT&T. As part of its support of North America’s premier cycling event and rolling festival (April 21-27, 2008), the Georgia Lottery will sponsor the Tour’s Most Aggressive Rider jersey. And they will create a first in the six years of the Tour by involving fans in the voting process for this award jersey.

The Georgia Lottery is putting an interactive twist to the Most Aggressive Rider competition. Missouri Lottery Spring Promotions Pump Up the Muscle and the Power

JEFFERSON CITY, Missouri, USA (April 21, 2008) - The Missouri Lottery is showing some muscle with two upcoming promotions - the "Muscle Up" Scratchers promotion and the Powerball Power Play 10X promotion.

The "Muscle Up" promotion, beginning March 29, offers three grand prizes of a 2008 Dodge® Viper® SRT10 Coupe plus $500, a prize valued at approximately $90,845.  Also during the promotion, 15 players will win a trip to the beach of their choice and 90 players will each win $500 cash.

"This is the first time we’re offered a vehicle of this class in a promotion," said Nicole Baldwin, promotions manager for the Missouri Lottery.  "We’re excited to be kicking off spring with this promotion that offers a different prize to our players."

To enter the promotion, players need to submit $10 worth of any combination of the three eligible Scratchers tickets for this promotion.  The eligible games are: "Big Money," a $5 game; "Winning Fever," a $2 game; and "Cold Hard Cash," a $1 game.

Three drawings will be held during the promotion to award the prizes.  One 2008 Dodge® Viper® SRT10 Coupe, five beach trips and 30 $500 cash prizes will be awarded in each drawing.  The Missouri Lottery will pay standard federal and state taxes for the vehicle and trip prizes based on the total prize values.

The Lottery is also turning up the power with the Powerball Power Play 10X promotion.  Missouri Powerball players who use Power Play will have the chance to multiply their winnings up to 10 times during the Power Play 10X promotion, which runs from March 30 through April 30.  This means players who win the second-level $200,000 prize could win $2 million, and the third-level prize could go from $10,000 to $100,000.

For an extra $1 per play, Powerball’s Power Play feature offers the chance to multiply prizes other than the jackpot by two, three, four or five times their normal value.  Before each Wednesday and Saturday Powerball drawing, a wheel is spun to select the draw’s Power Play number.  The wheel has 16 spaces that are labeled as follows:  2, 2, 2, 2, 3, 3, 3, 3, 4, 4, 4, 4, 5, 5, 5 and 5.

During the promotion, one of the "5s" will be removed from the Power Play wheel and replaced with the number "10."  This allows players the chance to multiply the prize 10 times its normal value during the promotion, whenever the "10" is selected as the Power Play number.

Lottery Makes Largest Quarterly Transfer To Date - $97.8 Million

Transfer Brings Education Lottery Fund Tally To Over $628 Million!

RALEIGH, North Carolina (April 22, 2008) – $628 million! That is the latest tally for the Education Lottery Fund after the North Carolina Education Lottery (NCEL) made its third transfer for Fiscal Year 2007-2008.

The NCEL transfer of $97.8 million to the State Education Lottery Fund is for sales for the 3rd quarter (Jan. 1 – March 31) of the fiscal year. This is the largest quarterly transfer

since its inception. Gross sales for the quarter were $315 million, making this the highest

quarter gross sales to date.

We are incredibly proud to have raised this amount of money for education in just two

years of operations,” said Tom Shaheen, NCEL executive director. “All of us at the lottery are ecstatic that our efforts to increase sales are really starting to pay off, but the real payoff that all North Carolinians should be happy to see is the return to education.”

The NCEL made the electronic transfer to the Office of State Budget and Management

(OSBM) to be disbursed to these beneficiary programs: More at Four; class size reduction; school construction; and college scholarships for need-based students. The Department of Public Instruction will manage the distribution of the funds for all the beneficiary programs except the college scholarships, which will be handled by the North Carolina State Education Assistance Authority.

Since inception (March 30, 2006) through April 21, 2008, the NCEL has surpassed

$1.9 billion total gross sales. To date, FY08 sales are over $114 million ahead of this same time last year.

Atlantic Lottery Acting On Shareholder Review

MONCTON, New Brunswick, Canada (April 23, 2008) – The Atlantic Lottery Corporation (ALC) welcomed the Shareholder Controls Review conducted by KPMG Forensic Inc. released today. 

Through this comprehensive review KPMG noted that ALC already had strong internal controls and sound business measures in place to mitigate potential risks and manage operations.  The report offers additional enhancements to ALC’s business environment, and draws upon the best practices of many global organizations. Close to 90 per cent of KPMG’s recommendations have already been implemented.  The remaining recommendations will be completed by the end of the 2008/09 fiscal year.

North Carolina Education Lottery Teams-Up With Lowe’s Motor Speedway

RALEIGH, North Carolina, USA (April 22, 2008)- The North Carolina Education Lottery (NCEL) is showing its racing spirit by partnering with Lowe’s Motor Speedway for two exciting weekends of racing action in May. Multiple events and promotions will give race fans the opportunity to interact with the NCEL and learn about how the lottery education money has been distributed, and help raise more money for education through ticket purchases!

The North Carolina Education Lottery 200.  On Friday, May 16, the North Carolina Education Lottery is proud to sponsor the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race, which will kick off the NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race Weekend.

Super Fan Promotion with WCNC-TV. The top two scorers in WCNC-TV’s online Weekly Race Challenge will have the opportunity to serve as Grand Marshall and Honorary Starter at the North Carolina Education Lottery 200 on May 16.  The Weekly Race Challenge involves players selecting the top 10 finish for any given race. Points are awarded based on the number of drivers selected correctly and in which position they finish. In addition to dropping the green flag to start the race and saying the most famous words in racing, “Gentlemen, Start your engines,” the winners of the Super Fan Promotion will receive race tickets for both the All-Star weekend and the Coca-Cola 600 weekend, a pre-truck race pit tour with WCNC’s Greg and Ira, and a live appearance on WCNC-TV as they make their Craftsman Truck Race winner prediction.

Speedway Riches Scratch-off Ticket Promotion. To help promote the NCEL’s

partnership with Lowe’s Motor Speedway, a scratch-off ticket was created that

incorporates the Lowe’s Beast of the Southeast logo and offers players over $4.5 million

in cash prizes!

On May 15 and 16, race fans can receive a free pair of tickets to the North Carolina Education Lottery 200 by bringing five (5) non-winning “Speedway Riches” instant scratch-off lottery tickets to Lowe’s Motor Speedway. Five hundred pairs of tickets will be given away. Offer is good while supplies last. Must be 18 years of age or older to participate.

Live Powerball Drawing. On Saturday, May 17, at 10:59 p.m., the nationally viewed Powerball drawing will be broadcast live by WCNC-TV nationwide from the vendor/hospitality area near the Avenue of Flags (the main entrance to Lowe’s Motor Speedway). The drawing will be open to all fans to watch.

On-Site Lottery Ticket Sales. The NCEL will sell lottery tickets at Lowe’s Motor

Speedway during the NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race weekend May 16-17 and the Coca-

Cola 600 race weekend May 22-25. Race fans who purchase tickets can spin the prize wheel to win fun lottery merchandise.

Responsible Gaming Day

EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT, Brussels (April 17, 2008) -- Mr. Mario Galea, Chief Executive Officer of the Lotteries and Gaming Authority, was one of the main speakers during the Responsible Gaming Day, held at the European Parliament on 17th April, 2008.

The Responsible Gaming Day was organised with the aim to initiate the first broadly-based EU political discussion on responsible gaming.

Mr. Galea in his speech addressed the issue of consumer protection in online gaming.
