3 Year Pact to Supply Instant Ticket Cooperative Services

NEW YORK, USA (April 9, 2008) -- Scientific Games (Nasdaq: SGMS) announced that it has been awarded a contract with the Sachsen-Anhalt Lottery in Germany to supply instant tickets and cooperative services. The contract begins in July of 2008 and will run for three years, with options to extend for an additional two years. Florida Lottery & Lottery Dynamics Boost Florida Lotto™ Sales Through Jackpot Choices

TALLAHASSEE, Florida (April 1, 2008) – The Florida Lottery and Lottery Dynamics today announced positive early results from the recent enhancements to the Lottery’s flagship game, Florida Lotto™. Through a license agreement with Lottery Dynamics, on March 2, 2008, the Florida Lottery began offering its customers a customized version of Lotto Silver+™ – an “add-on” game within the Lottery Dynamics family of proprietary, patent-protected, lottery-enhancing products.

The enhancements to FLORIDA LOTTO offer players:

  • $1 play for the base jackpot;
  • $2 play for the base jackpot plus $10 million*; or
  • $3 play for the base jackpot, the additional $10 million plus $15 million – a total of $25 million added to the base jackpot.*

“Strategic alternatives for improving FLORIDA LOTTO were carefully evaluated,” said Florida Lottery Secretary Leo DiBenigno.Traditionally, lotteries have attempted to increase lotto jackpots by adding numbers to the game matrix. That approach, however, generally makes it harder for players to win jackpot prizes, often resulting in player disenchantment. We’ve learned from our players that they would instead prefer an approach offering more attractive jackpots on an optional basis for every drawing, without making the game harder to win. We believe this customized version of Lotto Silver+™ best provides what our players have asked for.

Approximately 60 percent of all drawings in the former version of FLORIDA LOTTO offered jackpots of $10 million or less. Although the former version produced more millionaires than most other lotto games in the U.S., larger jackpots – which spark player excitement and drive sales – occurred less frequently.

Total FLORIDA LOTTO sales for the first eight drawings of the enhanced game have increased approximately 11 percent over comparable pre-launch drawings. The new game boasts a play-through rate of 10 percent, with the $2 play as the slightly more popular add-on option so far.

One of the Lottery's first On-line games, FLORIDA LOTTO was originally introduced in April 1988 as a once-a-week, multimillion-dollar jackpot game. Minor changes to the game’s prize structure were made in 1993, followed by its first major overhaul in 1999 that included adding a second draw per week, changing the number matrix from 49 to 53, and substantially increasing the game's lower-tier prizes.

After more than 1,470 draws and more than 16 billion tickets sold, FLORIDA LOTTO is still the most popular game offered by the Florida Lottery and one of the strongest lotto games in the nation.  During fiscal year 2006-07, the game generated $736 million in sales and $294 million in transfers to the Educational Enhancement Trust Fund (EETF).

Since 1988, the Florida Lottery has contributed more than $18 billion to the EETF, benefiting Florida students and schools, as well as fully funding more than one million annual Bright Futures scholarships. By a two-to-one margin, Florida voters in 1986 approved a constitutional amendment authorizing the state to operate a lottery for the purpose of generating significant additional moneys for education.

* Estimated prize to a single winner, paid over 30 years. The game’s matrix and odds of winning remain the same.

3.1 billion to Share Out: Record Result From Norsk Tipping AS

HAMAR, Norway (April 9, 2008) -- Norsk Tipping AS achieved its best ever result in 2007. Sports & athletics and cultural activities each receive NOK 1.25 billions, while the profit from Extra generated NOK 219 millions for health and reconvalescence activities.  Organisations that had income from the gaming machine market in 2001 receive a total of 150 millions, while a further 12 millions are allocated to measures and initiatives to combat compulsive and habitual gambling.

219 millions were transferred to Norsk Tipping’s investment fund.

In 2007 we passed over the magic turnover threshold of NOK 10 billions for the first time. This is hard evidence that we have managed to achieve our objective of channelling Norwegian gaming in towards the responsible forms of gaming operated by Norsk Tipping. The record turnover also represents the best-ever result for the charitable and other organisations supported by our activities,” says Norsk Tipping’s Managing Director Axel Krogvig.

There are a number of factors behind the increase in turnover. Lotto, Viking Lotto and Joker are setting new records. Norsk Tipping has introduced Keno, which contributed further. The traditional football pools enjoyed the highest turnover for three years, and the improvements introduced in Oddsen have also resulted in healthy growth.

We are happy to have this kind of confirmation that the gaming entertainment provided by Norsk Tipping continues to have great appeal to the Norwegian public. This means that we can continue to develop the gaming market in a socio-political desirable direction”, says Axel Krogvig.
