Mifal Hapais Launches New Global Brand: Double Lotto

Double the Investment, Double the Winnings

TEL AVIV, Israel (August 6, 2007) -- After 3 years of quiet in the field of new lottery games, Mifal Hapais is now launching a worldwide first - a sub-brand of the Lotto brand, invented in Israel under the name of “Double Lotto.”

Double Lotto, as aforesaid, is a development of Mifal Hapayis and is aimed at a young audience which likes to takes chances and wants to make decisions and decide how much money it wants to invest in games, and also how much it wants to win.

Double Lotto offers twice the winnings! Customers can double their investment and win a double prize, at all prizewinning levels.

For example: the first prize is NIS 10 million. A customer who plays Double Lotto and won first prize will double his or her earnings to NIS 20 million.

Winnings can be doubled at all prize levels, from the first prize announced for a particular draw, to the level of the smaller prizes.

Mifal Hapais's Chairman Shimon Katznelson says that the new game will enable Mifal Hapais to access new audiences, youngsters, who are willing to take a chance, and will also increase the investment level of many players who fill out Lotto forms with minimal investment. This will allow them to continue playing for small amounts but will double their winnings potential.

Mifal Hapayis director general, Shaul Sotnik, says that development of the new game has been in progress for some years and that, in contrast with other games, it has never been played before anywhere in the world. “Lottery organizations around the world share information and learn from each other’s experience. Similar lottery games are played in most countries, with slight adjustments, according to the audience. This time, we are going for something new, which offers a slight risk and a great chance. We invented, developed and examined the game, and we are the first to launch it.

We presented the game at a world conference and the responses were very positive. It is an intriguing game and many lottery organizations are now looking towards Israel, to see how the game works and to adopt it. In the last few years, since the new Lotto was launched in 2004, we have been delighted with the lottery. The brand sales increase constantly (by 7% in 2006 and 6% more in 2007), and there has been a two figure rise in revenue on the brand (about 30%) since the launch in 2004. This makes Israel an exception in the world and is one of the few countries where sales have risen. The revenue from Double Lotto is designed to maintain the pattern of improvement in performance levels.

Lotto is Mifal Hapayis’ most popular game. In 2006, Lotto sales reached close to NIS 1 billion, with total annual sales at NIS 3.6 billion - a rise of 9% compared with the previous year.

Doron Angel, director of marketing, advertising and sales, says that Mifal Hapayis is aiming to achieve Double Lotto revenue of about NIS 60 million a year, which will help the company achieve its total revenue goal of NIS 4 billion a year.

Revenue from the new Lotto product also allows the organization to renew and overhaul its Lotto super brand. Since it was launched in the late 1960s Lotto has undergone many changes which mainly related to the numbers of the game. However, the consumer was never previously allowed to set the level of the first prize he or she could win.

The introduction of the element of control and choice to Lotto is a worldwide innovation which is being launched by Mifal Hapayis for the first time. The element of control and choice is offered by Chance and games with low level prizes but nowhere in the world offers a choice of winnings levels in lotteries with such high earnings as Lotto.

Analysis of consumer preferences indicates that over two thirds of Lotto customers consider the choice of prize level an important factor in their choice of purchase.

The income from Double Lotto allows Lotto to continue strengthening its position as the most popular lottery product in Israel, and which offers the highest prize in the world of lottery products.

The launch of Double Lotto will be supported by a campaign, managed by Adler, Homsky and Vershevsky on television and the radio, street posters and the press at a total cost of about NIS 4 million. The campaign will begin in 8.8.07 and run for two and a half weeks.

Virginia Lottery Launches New Pink Panther Scratcher Game - “Suave Spokes-cat” will appeal to Broad Spectrum of Virginians

PP

VIRGINIA, USA (August 9, 2007) -- Da-dum-ta-dum…The Virginia Lottery has released a Scratcher game based on one of the world’s coolest cats, beloved icon, The Pink Panther. The game will offer players the opportunity to relive their favorite memories of the debonair feline while scratching for cash.

We think the Pink Panther will appeal to both regular Lottery players and those who only occasionally buy a ticket,” said Virginia Lottery Executive Director Sheila Hill-Christian. “When our partnering licensing company provided him at no extra cost, we jumped at the chance to offer this game to Virginians. The Pink Panther is fun, witty, sophisticated and instantly recognizable. We think people will be very excited about the game.

The game is simple and fun to play, and there’s no need to worry about being ambushed by Cato or spooked by the Phantom. Simply match your numbers to the winning numbers shown on the $2.00 ticket. The game has six top prizes of $12,000, and more than one million smaller prizes ranging from $2 to $3,000. Players will also have the opportunity to double their prizes and can win as many as 11 times on the same ticket.

The Lottery’s advertising for the game includes an ad starring the 1964 Academy Award™ winning character. This marks the first time animation has been used for the Pink Panther game; which has also been offered by lotteries in several other states. It features a mustachioed museum guard who stands at the ready to protect the Virginia Lottery ticket on display. The Pink Panther, camouflaged by the gallery’s pink walls (an homage to one of the first Pink Panther cartoons), steals his cap, tosses it aside, and attempts to steal the ticket, setting off security alarms.  After hiding himself in the ticket, the unseen panther pulls a cap over the guard’s eyes and escapes with the ticket that boasts a top prize of $12,000.

Copies of the ad, as well as high resolution photos are available for download at FlickerLabs, the animation company that helped to produce the spot.

In addition, the Lottery is also supporting the game by providing retailers with new in-store materials, including a 6-foot-tall stand-up featuring the sophisticated cat. Also supporting the game will be radio advertising in both English and Spanish, another first for the Virginia Lottery.

FLUXX Steps Up Independence From German Market

High growth for FLUXX AG international subsidiaries

First-half revenues rise by 33 percent to EUR 31.3 million

EBITDA reaches record level, EBIT diminished by investment

ALTENHOLZ, Germany (August 9, 2007) -- The gaming specialist FLUXX AG (ISIN DE000A0JRU67) today publishes its report on the first half of 2007. The FLUXX Group has nevertheless already successfully stepped up its activities in other European countries. A significant proportion of sales, e.g. by the group's Maltese subsidiary QED Ltd., which operates the sports betting service myBet.com, is now generated outside Germany. FLUXX has moreover established highly promising subsidiaries in attractive, regulated markets in the guise of its Spanish subsidiary DigiDis S.L. and also JAXX UK Ltd., which was established in the UK at the end of 2006.

The successful shift in strategy is also reflected in the sales and cash inflow structure of the FLUXX Group. Strong growth in the sports betting and lottery syndicates product areas boosted revenue by 33 percent compared with the first half of 2006, from EUR 23.5 million to EUR 31.3 million.

Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) consequently showed an markedly overproportional rise of 227 percent, from EUR 1.2 million to the record level of EUR 3.9 million. On the other hand depreciation and amortisation of EUR 6.0 million, predominantly as a result of focused investment in the much-expanded syndicate contracts portfolio, diminished earnings before interest and tax (EBIT), which was around 40 percent down on the prior-year figure of EUR -1.6 million at EUR -2.2 million. The doubling in the level of contracts compared with the previous year assures future earnings and a high cash flow running into the double-digit millions. The consolidated result in the first half of 2007 amounted to EUR -1.7 million, as against EUR 0.7 million in the first half of 2006. Earnings per share fell from EUR -0.05 to EUR 0.12.

OUTLOOK

The possible introduction of controversial draft legislation taking effect from January 1, 2008 for a new State Treaty on gaming - which is both unconstitutional and in conflict with European law - has prompted FLUXX to focus on intensively expanding its business activities in other European markets.

Initial infringement proceedings from German courts on the legal situation in Germany have already reached the European Court of Justice (ECJ). FLUXX believes that the ECJ will overturn the monopoly in 2009 at the latest.

Until the situation in the German market has been definitively clarified, FLUXX will be reviewing its domestic activities in the light of the new legal situation and holding back with their expansion. However, FLUXX will be devoting most of its capacity to pan-European expansion. The process of development that was already embarked on last year for the sports betting brand myBet.com and the Spanish subsidiary DigiDis is to be further accelerated.

The subsidiary JAXX UK Ltd. is about to enter the British betting market in partnership with the leading online marketer AOL, offering a competitive product range. An additional sales volume of between EUR 20 and 30 million would appear to be possible over the next two years as a result of JAXX UK's entry into the British market. UK business should be making a positive contribution to the result by the start of 2009 at the latest.

FLUXX is furthermore currently conducting specific negotiations with a number of interesting and profitable companies in the European gaming market that would represent useful strategic additions to FLUXX AG's investment portfolio. FLUXX's priority here is to realise additional potential for profit in the short term and to appreciably improve the price earnings ratio for FLUXX shareholders through such acquisitions.

In terms of revenue and earnings, FLUXX still expects double-digit growth that will enable it to break even for 2007 as a whole.

"The developments of the first half of the 2007 financial year prove that we are on the right track," remarked Stefan Hänel, Finance Director of FLUXX AG. "We have paved the way for expanding our business successfully in the face of a more challenging regulatory framework in Germany. By securing access to new markets elsewhere in Europe, we are gradually gaining independence from the legal chaos that has broken out in Germany."

Need 2 Million Frequent Flier Miles?

Washington’s Lottery Launches New Ticket Featuring Alaska Airlines Travel Prizes, And Two Million Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan Miles!

OLYMPIA, Washington (August 2007) -- Washington’s Lottery today launched an innovative new Scratch ticket that features Alaska Airlines prizes in celebration of the airline’s 75th anniversary. The new ticket offers some of the most exciting Lottery prizes to date - cash, instant discounts on Alaska Airlines Vacation packages, and 2 million Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan miles that may be used to fly anywhere Alaska Airlines or its 11 airline partners fly. The $2 Scratch ticket goes on sale today at all Washington’s Lottery retailers. The ticket is the first of its kind in the nation to offer Mileage Plan miles as prizes from a major airline.

The Scratch ticket featuring Alaska Airlines is particularly rewarding – EVERY ticket is a winner! The top cash prize is $20,000, but the winning doesn’t stop there. Each ticket features a “Bonus Spot” customers may scratch off to reveal which prize they’ve won: 750 or 75,000 Alaska Airlines miles, or a 10% discount on select Alaska Airlines Vacation packages. But even after players have scratched off both areas of the ticket, they still have one more chance to win! The “Second Chance” mail-in drawing offers what many travelers would consider the most exciting prize of all – 2 million Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan miles!

The new Scratch ticket is being launched as both Alaska Airlines and Washington’s Lottery celebrate anniversary years. This year marks Alaska Airlines’ 75th Anniversary, and Washington’s Lottery has been rewarding winners for 25 years.

The Lottery has offered extreme vacation trips as prizes before, but this is the first time we’ve been able to offer extreme Mileage Plan miles on a airline that is synonymous with the Northwest – Alaska Airlines,” said Christopher Liu, director of Washington’s Lottery. “Two million Mileage Plan miles would allow you to travel to practically anywhere for a very long time, and go first class on a great carrier known for customer service!

A portion of funds raised by the new Scratch ticket will benefit education construction projects in Washington State. Washington’s Lottery contributed $102 million to education construction in fiscal year 2007.
