Im delighted the WLA
could attract such a top-flight person as Hans who brings to the table a wealth
of international executive business experience, said Gleason.
Hans assuming the position as Executive Director marks the dawning
of a new era for the WLA. These are challenging times for our lottery sector as
our members must address the ever-changing global marketplace in which our
products are offered, and the corresponding changes in the legal and regulatory
environment in which we operate. Hans is well-suited to guide us through this
period of dramatic change.
While our WLA members face
significant challenges and increasing competition, they also have great
opportunities to offer new and innovative products and improved services to
their players, sales agents, and for the benefit of the citizens of their
sponsoring jurisdictions, states, or countries", said Savonije. "I look
forward to partnering with our members, continuing to build on past
accomplishments, and develop the Association to be an outstanding professional
platform, where all stakeholders find inspiration and knowledge with an

INTRALOT Expands In The Large Argentinean Lottery Market Through A
Significant Acquisition
ATHENS, Greece (January 14, 2007) --
INTRALOT acquired a majority stake in the
Argentinean technology company Techno Accion, a firm with a significant
presence in the local market through 7,500 terminals in 10 states throughout
Argentina. Through this acquisition, INTRALOT further strengthens its position
in Latin America, where it already has a presence in Chile, Peru and Colombia.
Techno Accion offers integrated
solutions for lottery organizations i.e. central systems and betting validation
terminals.
Techno Accion is the 2nd largest
company in the sector amongst 4 Argentinean companies that hold 100$% of the
local market. INTRALOT acquired a 50,1% stake in the company whereas the
remainder was acquired by the operator of the horse racing of Buenos Aires
HAPSA- and the Casino Club, the states casinos manager. Both
partners are considered to be very important due to their in-depth knowledge of
the local gaming market.
The acquisition cost reached 22
million USD for the whole company, while the company has a net cash position of
3.5 million USD, which shapes the 2006 EV/EBITDA ratio at 5.2x. This
acquisition is in-line with INTRALOTs strategy to acquire companies with
a solid presence in their counties and with sound perspectives for further
growth through new opportunities as well as by the synergies to be developed
with INTRALOT.
INTRALOTs CEO, Mr.
Constantinos Antonopoulos stated: INTRALOT, fully committed to its
vision and planning, by the acquisition of Techno Accion strengthens its
presence in the highly promising market of Latin America. Techno Accion s
technological base as well as its market insight together with the cutting edge
technology and services provided by INTRALOT such as the design of new
games, sports betting operation, etc. - will generate significant returns in
the coming years, as new tenders are expected to be launched in the country.
The gaming market of Argentina is very interesting as the projections for its
growth are optimistic given the relative low penetration of gaming and the
potential introduction of new games, such as numerical and sports betting
games.
Argentina has a population of 40
million people and a GDP per capita of 14,000 USD, which is expected to
continue to grow at high rates in the next years, and specifically more than 8%
in 2007. The countrys lottery market (including casinos) is estimated at
3.7 billion USD of which only 1.2 billion USD concerns sales of numeric games,
or 30 USD per capita or just 0.2% of GDP percapita.
About INTRALOT (www.intralot.com)
INTRALOT, a public company listed on
the ASE, is a leading supplier of integrated gaming and transaction processing
systems, innovative game content and value added services to state-licensed

Record Sales Year for Colorado Lottery
DENVER January 16, 2007)
Record Powerball jackpots fueled a record
sales year for the Colorado Lottery. For
the third consecutive year, the Lottery beat the previous years total and
achieved its highest sales to date.
Total sales in 2006 reached $454.2
million, which was an increase of 2.6 percent compared to last year's $442.6
million. The Lottery saw sales increases in Powerball and Cash 5, while Lotto
and Scratch games were down slightly.
A combination of
factors contributed to our success this year, said
Peggy Gordon, director of the Colorado
Lottery. Higher jackpots, loyal players and diligent retailers were
just a few vital elements that helped us attain our sales goals. We plan to use
this momentum to lead us through the upcoming year.
In 2006, Powerball sales had the
biggest jump, with a 15.6 percent increase. The game not only saw the record
jackpot amount of $365 million in February, but three other jackpots that
reached more than $200 million, which contributed to total sales of $111.6
million for the year.
The other winner was Cash 5, with
sales totaling $17.2 million, an 8.9 percent increase.
Seeing a slight decrease were
Scratch sales and Lotto. Scratch tickets totaled $288.7 million, which was 0.7
percent, or about $2 million, less than 2005. As for Lotto, sales were down
about 7.9 percent, or $3 million from the previous year, totaling $36.7
million.
To continue its success in 2007, the
Lottery has four goals. The primary one is recruiting more retailers with a
goal of 3,000 by June 30. At this time, the Lottery has about 2,900 licensed
retailers statewide.
Another objective is to better
manage Scratch ticket inventory by ensuring that more tickets are available and
existing ticket dispensers are filled. And the third goal is offering new games
that will excite loyal players while creating interest among new or infrequent
players. The Lottery also plans to continue maintaining strong partnerships
with proceeds recipients such as Great Outdoors Colorado, Conservation Trust
Fund and Colorado State Parks.
We have very
ambitious, but attainable, goals this year, said Gordon.
Were celebrating our achievements while working to strengthen
the Lotterys future, which will only benefit our proceeds recipients and
Colorado for years to come.
Proceeds from the Colorado
Lotterys games - Scratch, Lotto, Powerball and Cash 5 - stay in Colorado
to improve the quality of life in the state. In fiscal year 2006, more than
$125.5 million was returned to Colorado. Since the lottery started in 1983,
more than $1.7 billion has been returned to the state.

Camelot launches A Major TV Ad Campaign To Support Its Newest Premium
National Lottery Scratchcard Game
New Camelot Campaign Offers
£40,000 A Year For Life
UNITED KINGDOM (January 8, 2007)
Camelot launches a major TV ad
campaign next week to support its newest premium
National Lottery Scratchcard game
Rich For Life. Players of the £5 game have the chance of winning a
top prize of £40,000 a year for the rest of their lives the
biggest ever annuity prize offered by a National Lottery game.
 |
The TV ads will air for the first
time on 14 January and will run until late February. The airtime slots booked
were specifically chosen to help viewers imagine what £40,000 a year
could mean to them. The Rich For Life adverts will mainly appear alongside
property, holiday and lifestyle improvement programmes, with additional slots
booked around programmes filmed on location in airports and holiday
resorts.
The ad opens on an uncomfortable
looking airline passenger sandwiched in the middle seat of the economy section
of a plane. Our central character is squashed in-between two burly companions,
each taking up more than a fair share of their own cramped seats.
Our character in the centre is
attempting to drink from a tiny plastic cup while the passenger on his left
takes a forkful of food. Inevitably the drink is spilled.
Our glum-looking passenger awkwardly
swaps his cup to the other hand and immediately has it knocked flying by
his neighbour who is turning the page of a newspaper.
Our traveller looks as if he fears
the worst from his large, grumpy neighbours until the scene is
transformed when the familiar scratchcard sound is heard. Revealed underneath
is a new luxurious airline cabin with a reclining leather seat and no
disapproving travelling buddies. The two burly men have magically changed into
attentive air hostesses, offering our now beaming passenger champagne on one
side and a platter of fresh lobster on the other.
The voiceover says: Win
forty grand a year for life and relax with the Rich For Life
scratchcard as the happy passenger sinks back further into his seat,
lets out a contented sigh and a curtain is pulled across the front of the
camera.
The 20 second execution ends on a
close-up shot of the new Rich For Life scratchcard.
Howard Groves, Camelots
Director, Game Development, said: The campaign really captures the
idea of what you could do with £40,000 per year ever year for the rest of
your life. Its about not having to put up with lifes every day
irritants.
January is a time of when
that a lot of people will be dreaming of getting away from a damp and cold
Britain, and what could be better than being able to jet away from it all in
style?
The brief behind the
campaign was to open up peoples minds to the world of possibilities that
this games £40,000-a-year top prize could bring.
The campaign was created by Abbott
Mead Vickers BBDO with planning handled by MPG and buying by OMD.
Rich For Life is on sale now at
National Lottery retailers.
