Greek Lottery’s New CEO Aims at New Products

NEW YORK, USA (April 27, 2005) -- The new CEO of the Greek Organisation of Football Prognostics (OPAP), Mr. Basile Neiadas, made a presentation at the Economist Conference that took place in Athens on April 20th, 2005. He elaborated on OPAP's objectives to attract a wider customer base through new games that appeal to a larger audience, such as Bingo-Lotto.

Intralot

"Our goal is to take full advantage of the opportunities to increase our revenues from our distribution networks, beyond lottery, such as from advertising, ticket sales for cultural or athletic events, as well as from services such as the payment of bills," said Mr. Neiadas.

He continued, "Betting though the Internet, the telephone or digital TV, are not currently allowed in Greece. Therefore, there is today an extensive illegal market that develops through these channels, and our goal is to go after it. In the short term, we will achieve this objective through strategic advertising as well as by inducing the Hellenic Republic to take measures against illegal gaming. In the medium term, we will introduce new attractive games, while in the long term we will ensure our presence in the market of electronic gaming, once these become legal."

Referring to OPAP's prospects in 2005, he mentioned that, "We follow a strategy which aims to increase our revenues on a constant basis, and to maximize shareholder value within a context of social responsibility. Aiming to maintain our leading position in the sector of lottery and gaming in Greece, we will continue to invest in new games and to redesign the existing ones to make them more attractive to our customers."

"The advertising and sponsorships which we provide focus on existing and potential clients. Our goal is to reinforce OPAP's brand dominance, which is widely recognized and has achieved customer loyalty by maintaining a constant presence in the last 40 years in the lottery and gaming markets in Greece."

Mr. Neiadas analyzed OPAP's financial condition and concluded that, "In today's complex and increasingly demanding environment, establishing and maintaining strong relationships has become of utmost importance. As I mentioned, OPAP enjoys a high degree of loyalty in its customer relationships. On a larger scale, this enables us to win the confidence of international investors, who are willing to reward our business model and accept the state in its role of shareholder rather than as an impediment to our development. This has lead OPAP to become the most profitable company in Greece today and achieve the third largest market capitalization on the Athens Exchange."

Mr. Neiadas' presentation at the Economist Forum came at the heels of an upgrade by Citigroup, which rated OPAP's share a "buy" from the previous "hold" and set a target price of E 25 for the share.

New CEO contributes to OPAP's upgrading

Keba AG

In a note published on April 20th, Smith Barney, a division of Citigroup Global Markets, upgraded its recommendation on OPAP, the Greek lottery group, from "hold" to "buy" and raised the target price to E 25.20. OPAP's shares which are listed on the Athens Exchange closed at E 21.02 on Monday, April 25th.

The appointment of the new CEO, Mr. Basile Neiadas, on March 22nd, 2005 was among the key triggers for this upgrade. Mr. Neiadas, 50 years old, has a strong academic and corporate background in the private sector. He is a graduate of the Athens University-School of Economics and holds an MBA with Honors from Boston University. He has a 20-year career in the pharmaceuticals and cosmetic industry and served as General Director of Games Services of the Organizing Committee for the Athens 2004 Olympic Games.

Another trigger for the upgrade was the positive pressures on the management / regulator from the government's interest in selling more of its stake. Indeed, as of May 2005, the Government will be allowed to reduce its stake in OPAP to from 51% to 34%, and according to the analyst this offering may be expected to take place sooner rather than later.

Citigroup expects a strong first quarter 2005 for OPAP, with sales growth of 36%. The rejuvenation of Stihima, one of the main existing games, is a key challenge to the new CEO, along with clearly communicating a business plan with specific financial targets and key decisions on existing and new games.

The report increases the 2006-2007 EPS estimates for OPAP by 18-21% (1.55 E in 2006 and 1.74 E in 2007), capitalizing mainly on the advertising revenues from KINO which will be initiated in 2006. The actual 2004 EPS was 1.29, with an estimate of E 1.40 for 2004.

The report indicates that there could be further upside to the target price of 25.2 E, as Discounted Cash Flow Valuation scenarios suggest a value up to E 30.8 for OPAP, if the monopoly remains.

OPAP has the gaming monopoly in Greece and it organizes betting on sporting events and lottery games. It has a market capitalization of 6.8 billion Euros, the third largest market cap on the Athens Exchange. Consolidated 2004 Revenues were 3,177.2 million Euros (up 39.5% from 2003) with a Net Income Before Taxes of 742.3 million Euros (up 85.1% from 2003).

Lottery Dynamics LLC Announce the Signing of Tim Green to the Position of Vice President International

IRVING, Texas, USA (April 25, 2005) – Lottery Dynamics LLC announced the signing of Tim Green to the position of Vice President International.

Green, who is based in London, has served since 2000 as a Board Director of PIMS-SCA, a leading-edge insurance brokerage firm that has provided coverage for many of the key gaming companies in both the United States and Europe including Grab.com’s billion dollar online lottery.

In his role at PIMS-SCA, Green was responsible for developing new business opportunities with lotteries, casinos and U.K. bookmakers through the firm’s ability to transfer the prize risk from the gaming entity to an insurance entity.

Green brings his unique skills to Lottery Dynamics’ Lotto Gold+™ programs wherein starting Lotto jackpots can be boosted 3-4 times current levels with risk transfer assumed by Lottery Dynamics and its strategic partners. The other key features of Lotto Gold+™ are multiple priced tickets playing for a shared progressive jackpot and a unique "free" daily draw.

"My job will be to ensure that the lottery operator enjoys a seamless transfer of risk and reward. We take on all the risk and the lottery reaps the reward of an invigorated new game capable of generating 40-100 percent in additional revenues."

Pennsylvania Lottery’s 'LUCKY FOR LIFE LOTTO' Drawings Moving to Mondays, Thursdays ; Step-Down of Advance-Play Feature Begins April 27, 2005

MIDDLETOWN, Pennsylvania, USA (April 26, 2005) -- Beginning in August, the Pennsylvania Lottery’s LUCKY FOR LIFE LOTTO game will move from its current drawing nights of Wednesday and Saturday to Monday and Thursday. The final LUCKY FOR LIFE drawing under the current schedule will be Wednesday, July 27, 2005. LUCKY FOR LIFE’s new drawing schedule will begin Monday, August 1, 2005.

Pennsylvania Lottery officials said the schedule change responds to requests made by Lottery players and retailers for a jackpot game on Monday and Thursday.

"Retailers tell us that players come in, purchase their regular daily games - The Daily Number, BIG 4 and CASH 5 - and then ask for a ‘ticket for tonight’s jackpot game,’" said Lottery Executive Director Ed Mahlman. "Currently, the Lottery does not offer a jackpot game on Monday or Thursday."

As part of this move, it will be necessary to step-down the game’s advance-play feature. LUCKY FOR LIFE tickets may be purchased up to 13 weeks (26 draws) in advance. Beginning with the May 4 drawing, there no longer will be 26 draws remaining in the Wednesday and Saturday slot. The last opportunity to purchase 13 weeks (26 draws) of LUCKY FOR LIFE for its current Wednesday and Saturday drawing schedule will be Wednesday, April 27, 2005. The number of advance draws available for purchase will continue to decrease by one until only one drawing in the current schedule remains.

LUCKY FOR LIFE tickets will be on sale for the new drawing schedule beginning Thursday, July 28. At that time, players again will be able to purchase up to 13 weeks (26 draws) of advance-play tickets.

"As with all of the Pennsylvania Lottery’s games, LUCKY FOR LIFE helps us to continue supporting a broad range of programs that benefit older residents, including expanded prescription drug benefits through PACE and PACENET," said Mahlman.

LUCKY FOR LIFE is the online jackpot game with a ‘life’ prize, much like the Lottery’s popular ‘Win $1,000 A Week For Life’ instant ticket game. In addition to the lifetime prize, LUCKY FOR LIFE offers an instant-play feature. LUCKY FOR LIFE LOTTO debuted September 30, 2004.

The Pennsylvania Lottery currently offers two jackpot games in addition to LUCKY FOR LIFE LOTTO: MATCH 6 lotto is drawn on Tuesday and Friday, and Powerball® is drawn on Wednesday and Saturday.

How to play LUCKY FOR LIFE: Players receive one play for $2. Players select six numbers from 1 to 38, or they may elect the quick-pick, computer-selection method. With each $2 purchase, players have a chance to win the jackpot annuity prize of $3,000 a month for life, $1 million guaranteed, paid in annual installments of $36,000 per year less appropriate federal withholding, by matching all 6-of-6 winning numbers drawn. Prizes are set for matching 5-, 4- and 3-of-6 winning numbers. Odds of winning the LUCKY FOR LIFE jackpot prize are 1-in-2,760,681. Odds of winning any prize are 1-in-11.5.

Players also can win $10 instantly for each $2 LUCKY FOR LIFE purchase. The instant-play portion at the bottom of each ticket will either indicate "Instant Winner $10" or "No Instant Win, Try Again." The odds of winning $10 instantly are 1-in-20 statewide. A Random Number Generator determines instant-play prizes; the six winning LUCKY FOR LIFE numbers are drawn during the Lottery’s live Wednesday and Saturday nightly drawing show along with Daily Number, BIG 4 and CASH 5 drawings.

Instant wins can be paid to the player at the time of purchase. The player will then be issued an exchange ticket with the online LUCKY FOR LIFE portion of the ticket intact. Winning instant tickets can be redeemed up to one year after the purchase.

About the Pennsylvania Lottery:

The Pennsylvania Lottery remains the only state Lottery that designates all its proceeds to programs that benefit older residents. Since its inception 33 years ago, the Lottery has contributed more than $14.6 billion to programs that include property tax and rent rebates; free and reduced-fare transit; the low-cost prescription drug programs PACE and PACENET; and the 52 Area Agencies on Aging, including 650 full- and part-time senior centers throughout Pennsylvania. CHICAGO, Illinois (April 22, 2005) --This summer the Illinois Lottery has eight hot new games with more than $150 million in available prizes for its new summer promotion "Road to Riches."

Featuring the largest amount of available prizes of any promotion in Lottery history, "Road to Riches" also provides 20 lucky winners with a chance to walk away with a brand new Chrysler automobile and additional cash prizes of up to $1 million through a second-chance drawing. All second-chance prizes will be awarded Sept. 24, 2005 in Chicago during an exciting grand finale event hosted by Robin Leach of the hit show "Lifestyles of the Rich & Famous."

These 20 golden key winners will be invited to participate in the grand finale, where each person will use their key to unlock one of five different Chrysler car models including the 300C, the Pacifica, the Crossfire, the Town & Country and the Sebring.

  1. New Mexico State University, Las Cruces, May 7.
  2. University of New Mexico, Albuquerque, May 14.
  3. Eastern New Mexico University, Portales, May 14

Officials from each university have approved filming the scholarship commercials coinciding with commencement ceremonies. Additional details will be available once exact locations for the film crews have been finalized.

Each student and parent agreeing to be interviewed will be asked to sign a release form, volunteering to appear in the television and radio commercials plus print advertising. Graduating seniors or their parents may obtain additional information at the New Mexico Lottery website, www.nmlottery.com/graduates.htm.
