Pacific Lottery Corporation (PLC) (Formerly
Applied Gaming Solutions Inc.) was founded in 1995 and is a publicly traded
company on the TSX-Venture exchange, trading under the ticker symbol "LUK". The
principal business of the Corporation is to research, develop, manufacture,
operate and manage on-line lottery central systems. The corporations' focus is
to supply technology and accompanying services for the proper conduct of
jurisdictional wide on-line lottery operations.
The company is currently
setting up a modern electronic lottery in Ho Chi Minh City (formerly Saigon),
Vietnam`s most populated and economically vibrant city and in the surrounding
provinces. Under a ten year contract with the Vietnamese Government, Pacific
Lottery will supply the central system equipment, hardware, software and
accompanying lottery terminals, as well as provide the training and marketing
support required for the implementation and proper operation of a modern online
electronic lottery program (similar to 6/49 & Powerball lotteries) in the
Ho Chi Minh City region. All the necessary hardware and software are currently
being installed. Full operations are due to start in 2006 and the Lottery
infrastructure should then progressively be rolled out to cover the entire
country. Under the terms of the contract, Pacific Lottery will also set up and
operate sports’ betting in Vietnam.
The intention is then to roll out
the lottery to the rest of the country, encompassing at a later date the
already up and running electronic lottery set up in Hanoi by Pacific Lottery in
1999.
