Biography:

The first and only person to serve at the helm of the Iowa Lottery since its inception in 1985, Edward Stanek is a past President of NASPL, as well as past President of A.I.L.E. (now the World Lottery Association), and was one of the co-founders of the Multi-State Lottery Association.

Currently, he is a board member of A.I.L.E. and a member of the Executive Committee of Intertoto.

He was the 1997 winner of the Peter J. O'Connell Lottery Lifetime Achievement Award. Stanek is a former director and chairman of Iowa's energy agency and a past director of Iowa's policy planning agency, which provides economic and financial projections for the State.

Stanek holds a Ph.D. in Physics, a gemologist diploma and is the author of three books. He is currently serving as Vice President of the World Lottery Association (WLA).
