Biography: Ernest L.
Passaliaigue, Jr. was named the first Executive Director of the new
South Carolina Education Lottery in
mid-2001. Prior to his appointment he was a partner at Passailaigue,
Blanchard and Knight, CPA for nearly 16 years. In addition, he is a former
South Carolina State Senator (1988-2001). From 1980 to 1985, Passailaigue was a
Partner-In-Charge at Finch, Hamilton, Oxner and Company, CPA and from 1973 to
1980 was owner of Passailaigue and Associates, CPA. Earlier positions
included: Associate Professor of Business administration at Baptist College at
Charleston (1973-1988); Comptroller, Palmer College (1971-1973); Senior
Accountant, Thomas Busking and Associates (1971); and Auditor, Arthur Andersen
and Company (1969-1971). He has also served as an adjunct professor at the
College of Charleston, The Citadel, Webster University, and Central Michigan
University and was a former owner of the Charleston Royals and Rainbows
professional baseball team from 1980 to 1987. P assailaigue holds a
Master of Business Administration from The Citadel, a B.S. in Business
Administration from the University of South Carolina and attended Porter Gaud
School. Passailaigue is a native of Charleston, South Carolina. He and
his wife, Margaret, have seven children and four grandchildren.
