Margaret DeFrancisco

Biography:

In January, 2004, Margaret DeFrancisco became the second President/CEO in the Georgia Lottery Corporation's history. She joined the GLC after serving as Director of the New York State Lottery. During her tenure in New York, the lottery led the nation in sales and profits, making it the largest lottery in North America.

Prior to joining the lottery industry, DeFrancisco was appointed Executive Deputy Commissioner of the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles by Governor George E. Pataki. In 1993, DeFrancisco was elected Monroe County (N.Y.) Clerk. Before entering government service, Margaret spent nearly twelve years as owner of a commercial printing company located in Rochester, new York.

A native of Rochester, new York, DeFrancisco holds graduate and undergraduate degrees from the State University of New York. She has two grown sons, Garrett and Greg, and lives with her husband, Joesph, in Atlanta.

DeFrancisco to Lead Georgia Lottery
ATLANTA, Georgia (December 18, 2003) --As reported Margaret DeFrancisco, Director of the New York lottery, has been chosen to head the Georgia Lottery Corporation.
AP said Governor Perdue announced the appointment on Thursday. The Governor called Ms DeFrancisco "a can-do person'' and expressed confidence she will "take our lottery to a new level.''
Ms DeFrancisco replaces Rebecca Paul, who left Georgia to head the new Tennessee Lottery.
Ms DeFrancisco has headed the New York Lottery since 1999 and is credited with raising sales from $3.6 billion that year to $5.4 billion this year. It is the largest lottery in the United States.
Before becoming director of the New York Lottery, Ms DeFrancisco served as the executive deputy commissioner of the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles.
