Biography: Michael Barth -- Managing
Director of the Bremer Toto und Lotto GmbH
Mr. Barth was born in 1955 at Brunswick in
Lower-Saxony. He spent his schooldays in Kiel and Hamburg where he graduated in
law. In recent years, Mr. Barth worked with small and medium-sized media
enterprises in Rhineland-Palatinate and North Rhine-Westphalia, with
responsibility for the commercial side of the business. He also gained
experience in building and restructuring companies. On September 15, 2005
Mr. Barth took over as managing director of the Bremer Toto und Lotto GmbH, the
smallest member of the German Toto and Lotto Block with a turnover of approx.
70 Million per year. After 6 months, Mr. Barth is still very excited
about his change from the glamorous media sector to the German lottery
business, especially because of the rapidly changing competition situation.
I am sure my experience with the struggle for market shares in the
media sector will be of great benefit for the lotto sector. Mr.
Barth is awaiting, with bated breath, the decision of the Federal
Constitutional Court on sports betting. This will have an effect,
not only on the German, but also possibly on the European, lottery business.
Here, the state lotteries need the competent support of the EL, especially with
regard to European institutions. In the regional market of Bremen
and Bremerhaven, the Bremer Toto und Lotto GmbH will start a media-wide image
campaign. Our goal is to make it clear to the public, that the
gambling and lottery business is a business like no other.
