The National Lottery
The National Lottery was set up as a Government monoply in 1934. Prior to February, 2004, all National Lottery games fell under the responsibility of the Public Lotto Department. In February, 2004 Maltco Lotteries Limited was awarded an exclusive licence to operate all the National Lottery games. The licence is valid for seven years.
Presently Maltco is operating Super 5, Lotto Instant lottery, U*Bet (fixed-odds betting) and Quick Keno.
Maltco is expected to launch other National Lottery games in the future. The LGA regulates the operations of Maltco and collects gaming tax from the licensee on behalf of the Government.
