Awarding special prizes in state lottery.
Various measures had been undertaken by The Internal Revenue Department, State Lottery Directorate in order to promote the interest of the public to develop a modern lottery system, With a view to stimulate more awareness from the patrons who try their luck in the lottery, the Directorate had raised the maximum prize to five million and minimum ten thousand kyats respectively, on 1997 January, commencing from 130th series, and the highest prize was further enhanced to ten million in 1999.
On 2000, June, starting from 137th series the awarding of special prize was introduced and ten million and thirty million special prizes were given to the lucky winner respectively.
The additional source of funds for new prize were made available from prize which were unclaimed by winners for prize which were unclaimed by winners for a period exceeding one year.
