October 31, 2010 Official Opening of Trade Show and WLA 2010 Opening Dinner
Over 800 delegates from 70 countries assembled this week in Brisbane,
Queensland to attend the World Lottery Association's 2010 Convention and Trade
Show.
The venue was the Brisbane Convention and
Exhibition Centre (BCEC), a world class convention venue, purpose built to
provide superb flexibility and versatility under one roof. The BCEC has
received 107 industry awards, making it the most awarded convention center in
Australia. The BCEC is ranked among the top three convention centers world-wide
by the Association Internationale des Palais de Congres (AIPC) and its catering
team has won 47 awards.
Delegates were welcomed by WLA president Arch
Gleason and Bill Thornburn, Chief Executive, Tatts Lotteries. Following the
welcome speeches, delegates were then given the opportunity of visiting the 36
exhibitors who were showcasing their products and services. Delegates were
also given the opportunity of getting up close and personal with some of
Australia's friendly native animals, courtesy of Dream World who runs an
education program called Wildlife for Kids. This was followed by the
opening dinner, an evening of unique entertainment and fine food and wine.
