Lottery Instant Ticket Sales Exceed 10 Billion Yuan
NEW YORK, USA (January 09, 2009) -- Scientific Games China
("SGC"), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Scientific Games Corporation (Nasdaq: SGMS),
announced today that it has commenced the production of instant lottery tickets
in the People's Republic of China ("PRC") for China Sports Lottery Printing, Ltd. ("CSLP")
in late December 2008. Furthermore, the Company is proud to announce that
instant ticket retail sales in the PRC exceeded 10 billion Chinese Yuan in
calendar year 2008.
Through a joint venture
with a local partner, SGC, in conjunction with the CSLP, established a secure
state of the art instant ticket manufacturing facility at an existing CSLP
location in Beijing that now has production capacity of approximately four
billion 2" x 4" equivalents. The Company anticipates adding another four
billion of ticket printing capacity in the first half of 2009 that will allow
SGC to meet existing demand in the market. The facility will be operated by the
joint venture for a 15-year period. Revenues to Scientific Games on both the
instant ticket contract and the related validation system contract are based on
a percentage of retail sales. Michael Chambrello,
President and COO of Scientific Games commented, "We are very excited that
after months of hard work, SGC and CSLP were able to create the first state of
the art instant lottery ticket printing facility in the PRC, and produce

Start the New
Year Rich For Life With The National
Lottery Camelot supports
retailers with TV campaign to promote new Scratchcard game
WATFORD, UK (January 9, 2009) --
National Lottery operator
Camelot is launching a TV advertising and
marketing campaign to support the return to retail outlets of its Rich For Life
Scratchcard. The latest version of the hugely popular £5 game again
offers players the chance to scoop four top prizes of an amazing £40,000
a year for life*, and gives retailers a great opportunity to get their sales
and commission off to a flying start in 2009.
The £1.4 million
campaign follows hot on the heels of the latest big money National Lottery
Scratchcard winner Maria Murray from Bristol, who received the best
Christmas present ever when she bought a seasonal Merry Millions Scratchcard
from a local store and promptly won a cool £1 million.
The Rich For Life advert opens on an uncomfortable-looking
man sandwiched between two burly passengers one reading his newspaper,
the other eating a meal in the economy section of a plane. As the man
attempts to drink his water from a plastic cup, he is jostled from both sides.
Just as he is finally about to take a sip, his arm is knocked by the passenger
eating on his right. Looking frustrated, he switches the cup to his left hand
and tries to take another sip. As he is raising the
cup to his lips, the passenger on his left turns the page of his newspaper and
knocks the mans arm sending the water flying over the other
passengers clean white T-shirt. As our man looks nervously at his
grumpy-looking neighbours, we hear the familiar Scratchcard sound as a scratch
effect sweeps across the screen. The scene has been
transformed into a luxurious first class cabin, with the two burly men replaced
by attentive air stewardesses. One is serving him champagne, while the other
offers him a delicious-looking meal of fresh lobster. The man smiles as he
reclines in his much wider, leather seat. As a voiceover says: Win 40
grand a year for life and relax with the Rich For Life Scratchcard from
The National Lottery, a curtain is pulled across the front of the camera.
The ad finishes with a close-up of the new Scratchcard superimposed onto the
curtain. The TV campaign breaks on Sunday 11 January
and will run until Sunday 8 February. The Scratchcard will also receive
eye-catching in-store support material including Scratchcard dispenser
mini-side wings and counter cards, as well as advertising on in-store digital
media screens throughout the duration of the campaign. It is also being
backed by a national outdoor poster campaign. Launching the new Rich For Life game, Richard Bateson,
Controller of Game Development & Scratchcards at Camelot, said: We
always see a fantastic response from players in-store to regular payment games.
The previous version of Rich For Life was our best and fastest-selling £5
game ever and we expect this new version to be just as popular. The TV
campaign, together with the full programme of marketing support, will make sure
the game receives maximum exposure among players.
The campaign
really captures the idea of what you could do with £40,000 a year and
every year for the rest of your life. The game offers players a great
opportunity to see in the New Year with style, while raising even more money
for Good Causes. It should also give our retail partners a flying sales start
in 2009 and help them to build on the £3.4 billion and counting
theyve earned in commission to date from selling National Lottery
products. The campaign was created by Abbott
Mead Vickers BBDO with media planning handled by MPG and media buying by OMD.
NOTE:* The top Rich For Life prize
of £40,000 per year for life is in the form of an annuity policy and is
subject to UK tax. For further information, please

Releases New Games To Benefit Iowa Veterans Trust Fund
Lottery Expects To Raise $2 Million To $3 Million
Annually For Trust Fund DES MOINES, Iowa
(January 2009) -- Two new Iowa Lottery games
that will raise money to support veterans and their families through the Iowa
Veterans Trust Fund are being released this month, including the "Land of
Liberty" pull-tab game that begins
sales today. The $1 pull-tab game features a red,
white and blue theme along with patriotic symbols including the Statue of
Liberty and U.S. Capitol. It will be followed by the instant-scratch game
"Freedom Rings" that begins sales Jan. 26. The $1 tickets in that game have a
Liberty Bell theme. Tickets in both games also feature the logo of the Iowa
Veterans Trust Fund to easily identify those games as being dedicated to
veterans' causes.
"We're proud that our
new games are providing a stable, ongoing source of revenue for the Iowa
Veterans Trust Fund," said Ken Brickman, the Lottery's acting CEO.
"Iowa's veterans have served with dignity and excellence and now we
can stand up for them by providing the Trust Fund with a reliable source of
funding." Legislation approved in 2008 authorized
the lottery's games to benefit the Iowa Veterans Trust Fund. The Iowa Lottery
will create two new instant-scratch games and two additional pull-tab games
each year, with all profits from the games dedicated to the Iowa Veterans Trust
Fund. The Lottery estimates that the new games will
provide about $2 million to $3 million in proceeds annually for the Iowa
Veterans Trust Fund and already has transferred nearly $1 million to the fund
for the current fiscal year. The Lottery's next transfer to the Veterans Trust
Fund will be made at the end of January and is anticipated to keep the lottery
on target to meet its revenue estimate for the games. The Iowa Veterans Trust Fund was created to provide
assistance to qualified veterans to assist in paying for expenses such as:
- Travel expenses for wounded
veterans directly related to follow-up medical care;
- Job training or college tuition
assistance;
- Unemployment assistance during a
period of unemployment due to prolonged physical or mental illness or
disability resulting from military service;
- Dental, vision, and hearing
assistance for veterans living in a long-term care facility or under a home
healthcare contract (further asset limits apply); and
- Benefits for a child or children
of a disabled or deceased veteran following September 11, 2001.
- Individual or family counseling
programs (further asset limits apply).
In addition, funds are
available for family and children support groups and honor guard
reimbursement. To learn more about the Veterans Trust

Lottery Launches Exciting New TV Show
SACRAMENTO, California (January 8, 2009) -- On January 17,
the California Lottery rolls out the
newest big-money game show to hit the airwaves Make Me a
Millionaire. Featuring a brand new format
with state-of-the-art production, Make Me a Millionaire
seeks to capture the excitement of televised winning with the look and feel of
a sleek new show. It will be hosted by Mark Walberg who currently hosts
FOXs Moment of Truth. Liz Hernandez, from Los Angeles
radio station Power 106, will be joining him on stage.

 |
This exciting
change will strengthen the Lotterys brand image and deliver more prizes
to contestants, California Lottery Director
Joan Borucki said. The new TV
show will re-energize the Lotterys trademark TV product.
The show is just one of the big changes underway at the
Lottery. The Lottery has a new logo, new games and new innovative promotions.
It has also expanded its reach by placing Lottery machines in CVS pharmacies
throughout Southern California. In 1985, shortly after
California voters approved a constitutional amendment to create the California
Lottery, the Lottery first went to the air with a big money game show,
The Big Spin. Over the course of more than 24 years, the show has
featured thousands of contestants, given out millions of dollars and created
countless memories. During The Big Spins run, however, the
show changed little at a time when newer shows were redefining the look of the
modern game show. In order to create a new level of
excitement, the California Lottery has partnered with 3 Ball Productions and
Milestone Entertainment to produce Make Me a Millionaire. 3 Ball
produces a variety of programs including the popular weight loss show,
The Biggest Loser, on NBC. Milestone is the worlds leading
producer of lottery entertainment programs. This joint venture has replaced the
nations leading money giveaway show, The Big Spin, with a
newer, more sophisticated program. We
are looking forward to the exceptional opportunity to take the Lottery to a new
level of production, excitement and entertainment, said Todd Nelson,
CEO/Executive Producer of 3 Ball Productions. Make Me a Millionaire will feature
12 contestants and offer more money in prizes than The Big
Spin did. The new show will feature the following four games:
Lucky Penny Three contestants
start off with 10 pennies. Each contestant will try to match his or her numbers
with the price of a car through a series of rounds. Any of the contestants who
holds one penny at the end has an opportunity to win a car.
Safe Cracker This game features
two contestants, who each select from a group of 10 safes until one picks two
safes with no money inside. The contestant who avoids opening two empty safes
moves on to the second round. In that round, the contestant picks from five
additional safes.
California
Cool In California Cool, a single contestant picks from a
variety of statements about California. Players have four possible rounds to
earn money in this game. Make Me a
Millionaire The most anticipated game of the show will
undoubtedly be Make Me a Millionaire, where a contestant has
the opportunity to win a progressive jackpot that begins at $1 million. A
random number will be selected for a contestant that is between 1 and 50. Based
on what that number is, the contestant will predict whether the next number is
higher or lower. Each time a contestant guesses correctly, he or she will earn
$10,000. After the first incorrect guess the contestant decides whether to take
the money or attempt to go for the jackpot. A contestant who guesses
incorrectly twice receives $10,000. To view a behind
the scenes look at Make Me a Millionaire, get more

Arrest SACRAMENTO, California
(January 13, 2009) -- Thanks to several tips from TV news viewers,
investigators from the California Lottery
have arrested a Sacramento man and charged him with 16 burglaries and more than
50 counts of possessing stolen property. The charges stem from the theft of
Lottery tickets at convenience stores in Sacramento and the Bay Area.
The Lottery shared
surveillance video with TV stations last week. After receiving information from
viewers, investigators arrested 34-year-old Mark Gregory McDonald II of Elk
Grove on Sunday afternoon. Investigators say he confessed to the thefts and was
found to have an extensive criminal history. McDonald is charged with a rash of
burglaries in which he distracted store clerks and then made off with counter
displays of Lottery instant-win tickets, commonly called Scratchers tickets.
Video of McDonald is available at
www.calottery.com/serialburglar.
I commend the efforts of the news media, the
viewers that took the time to call, and the Lotterys outstanding
investigators in bringing this individual to justice, California

integrity of our games or steal from our dedicated network of
retailers. About the California
