INTRALOT impressed the participants of the Conference with its pioneering technology that was presented in its booth. The visitors had the opportunity to become acquainted with the state-of-the-art terminals that have driven the company to its position as leader in the gaming industry. The majority of visitors were attracted by the localized demos and the Fixed-Odds Betting, which made INTRALOT’s booth particularly appealing.

The theme of this year's conference was "Global Trend of Recreation and Gaming Industry" and during the event experts presented their research findings, expressed their opinion, and shared with the participants their experience from different countries. Their discussions focused on how to improve the legal frame of the industry in China, to combat illegal gambling, and to ensure the healthy development of the industry in the context of the global financial crisis and its potential effects on the world of gaming.

Smartplay RNG’s Draw Millions in the New Year, Rentals on the Rise

EDGEWATER PARK, New Jersey (November 21, 2008) -- Rhode Island’s Lottery has joined the growing list of states renting equipment from Smartplay International for special events.  Smartplay’s digital drawing platform, known as the Origin System, will draw Rhode Island’s first New Year’s Eve Million Dollar Raffle drawing on December 31, 2008.  And for the third consecutive year, Smartplay’s Origin System will select the numbers for the New Jersey Lottery’s January bonus raffle. Participation in each event was subject to competitive bid and Smartplay’s reputation for reliability and premium customer service in both traditional machines and technology products gave an edge in successfully securing both of these imminent contracts.

New Jersey’s Jersey Jackpot Raffle, described as a short-term raffle-style game, features three top-tier winners of $2 million and a total of $5 million in cash prizes. The $20 tickets go on sale in December for the January 21, 2009 draw. A total of 500,000 tickets are available; sales close at 6:30pm on the 21st.

Rhode Island’s game is a similarly styled raffle.  One hundred and twenty thousand tickets, sold for $20 each and numbered 1 to 120,000, went on sale in October. Rhode Island has a live telecast of the draw results scheduled as part of a New Year’s Eve celebration.

The Origin System is especially desirable for use in raffles due to its flexibility, which allows the Lottery to adjust the pool of numbers in the event that every numbered raffle ticket is not sold. Smartplay’s Origin System is currently used daily by New Mexico Lottery (Origin Video Server Client), Arizona Lottery, Washington’s Lottery, Ohio Lottery and Tennessee Lottery (Origin Video Server Client). In addition to Rhode Island and New Jersey, the system has been selected as the means to conduct raffles by New Mexico Lottery, New York Lottery, Ohio Lottery, Tennessee Education Lottery, Arizona Lottery, Washington’s Lottery and Virginia Lottery. Rentals of equipment such as the Origin System are an economical way for lotteries to present exciting short-term special events that can expand the player base and ramp up revenue.

ALBUQUERQUE, New Mexico (November 25, 2008) -- Don’t lose that holiday gift tag.  It may be worth more than the package it adorned.

Just For You

To celebrate the holidays, the New Mexico Lottery’s latest Scratcher doubles as fun entertainment and an out-of-the-ordinary gift tag concealing a wealth of prizes, some as large as $250.

Called “Just For You,” the $1-game provides an open area to write the names of the persons giving and getting the Scratcher gift tag.  In the play area, potential winning numbers are concealed behind images of holiday cookies and candy.

Gingerbread Dough

Scented Scratcher

The lottery also offers a scented Scratcher called “Gingerbread Dough.”  The $2-game features top prizes of $15,000.  Lottery Graphic Designer Jessica Quintana illustrated the ticket’s leading man, a tanned and frosted hunk of cookie dough admiring his mountain cabin made of cake.

He’s the perfect man,” Quintana said.  “He’s neat, he’s a homeowner and he smells really good.

The lottery’s third holiday Scratcher is the “$65,000 Stocking Stuffer.”  The $5-game offers players 20 opportunities to win prizes.

Betsson Appeals, Stockholm Betting Shop Will Remain Open

STOCKHOLM, Sweden (November 27, 2008) -- Betsson (STO:BETSB) has decided to appeal against the County Administrative Court’s ruling regarding the betting shop to the Administrative Court of Appeal, as Betsson believes the shop complies with EC-law. The betting shop at Götgatan 37 in Stockholm has now been open for six months, and the outcome has been satisfactory.

On November 7th 2008 the County Administrative Court of Södermanland rejected both Betsson’s appeal of the Lottery Inspection’s injunction and the request to obtain a preliminary ruling from the EU-court. This was decided despite the fact that Swedish prosecutors and public courts, including the Supreme Court and Svea High Court, have found the lottery act not to be applicable until the Swedish gaming monopoly has been tried in the EU-court. Betsson is convinced the shop is compliant with EC-law, thus the company has decided to appeal to the Administrative Court of Appeal.

We have to appeal given the juridical situation. As the state now risk claim for damages, the Lottery Inspection and the Country Administrative Court gamble with stakes of the taxpayer’s money.” said Pontus Lindwall, CEO Betsson.

The betting shop has now been open for six months.

Since we are pleased with the outcome of the shop we have no intention to shut it down. In addition to placed bets, which continuously have increased during the autumn, the shop gives us a possibility to meet with our customers and give them a unique service. We already have a number of regular customers who appreciate the possibility to place bets with better odds in a physical environment.” said Lindwall.

Betsson AB´S core business consists of investing and administer companies within the Gaming Business. Betsson AB owns Betsson Malta Ltd which operates games towards end customers, via the websites Betsson.com, Casinoeuro.com and Cherrycasino.com. Betsson Malta Ltd offers Poker, Casino, Betting Exchange, Sports Betting, Lottery, Bingo, Games and Betsson Trader. The Customers mainly originate from the Scandinavian countries and other parts of Europe. Betsson AB is listed on the Nordic List in Stockholm, Mid Cap (BETS).
