ALC Begins to Offer Texas Hold'em Poker at the
CDPEC
MONCTON, N.B. Canada (March 19,
2007) -- The Atlantic Lottery Corporation
(ALC) began offering Texas Holdem poker today at the Charlottetown
Driving Park Entertainment Centre (CDPEC). The arrival of the new table games
is expected to provide an additional boost to Prince Edward Islands
harness racing industry.
Since it opened in the summer of
2005, the CDPEC has had a positive effect on harness racing. The arrival of
Texas Holdem will add value to the overall product offering at the site.
By all accounts, the CDPEC
has been great for the Islands harness racing industry. There has been a
42% increase in the number of registered standard bred horses in the province
since we opened and approximately 80 more breeders, said Mike
Randall, ALCs Vice-President of Social Responsibility and
Communications.
Four Texas Holdem tables will
be available at the CDPEC and initially the tables will be available to players
from 4 p.m. to midnight from Monday through Thursday and from 11 a.m. until 2
a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. These hours of operations may change depending
on player demand.
The arrival of Texas Holdem
has meant that ALC has hired approximately 23 staff members who will work as
dealers. This is a first for us and an important milestone for our
company as ALC has never offered table games in the past, said
Randall.
He added that it is important that
the operations for poker will fall under the umbrella of provincial gaming
regulations. Poker has grown in popularity over the past few years and
we are happy that we are now able to provide the game in a regulated
environment to those adults who live here or are visiting the Island.
Texas Holdem players, along
with all other patrons at the CDPEC have access to the responsible gambling
services and information offered at the venues Gaming Information Centre.
This clearly shows the value of providing poker in a regulated
environment such as the CDPEC, noted Randall.

INTRALOT Launches Innovative Monitoring System In New
Zealand
ATHENS, Greece (March 20, 2007) --
INTRALOT NZ, a subsidiary of INTRALOT,
successfully commissioned in conjunction with the New Zealand Department of
Internal Affairs (DIA) 1613 licensed venues, 20.256 odd-gaming machines and
1000 jackpot controllers onto the new Electronic Monitoring System (EMS) in New
Zealand. Following an international procurement by DIA in May 2005, INTRALOT
was selected as the service provider to implement and operate the EMS on behalf
of the New Zealand Government. The connection of all venues was completed 10
days ahead of the statutory deadline.
The completion of this project, one
of the largest and most demanding in the gambling sector worldwide, involving
hundreds of operators and stakeholders, signifies INTRALOTs ability to
successfully implement complex wide area Monitoring Systems in widespread
networks of video slot machines.
The most important aspect of the EMS
is the control against illegal gambling, guaranteeing the integrity of games
and limiting opportunities for fraud. The system enables the Department to
monitor the operation of individual gaming machines in pubs and clubs
collecting and storing Bet, Win, Game and Net Win meters and calculating the
money to be banked by each venue. The system also authenticates every gaming
machine and game software, ensuring that only approved gaming machine
configurations are used. Unauthorized or tampered machines and games will be
disabled by the system.
Via a specially designed interface,
the EMS communicates with the Departments internal systems, providing an
integrated licensing, controlling, monitoring and management application for
all video slot machines in the country. Through a dedicated web site, the EMS
provides, on a daily basis, statistical and accounting reports to the
Department, the venues and the Societies and Clubs operating the gaming
machines.
The EMS contract was signed in May
2005, with 6-years duration and estimated total revenues of approximately NZ$
35 M, as well as an option to extend the contract for an additional period of
five years. The commercial operation of the EMS started in July 2006 with the
venue roll-out phase being completed in 8 months.
Internal Affairs Deputy Secretary,
Keith Manch said: The Department and INTRALOT NZ worked together in the
management of the complex project with the passing of the Gambling Act 2003,
the purpose of which included ensuring the integrity and fairness of gambling
and that money from gambling benefits the community. The project involved
meeting tight timeframes and couldnt have been achieved so efficiently
without the effort, co-operation and support particularly from INTRALOT NZ and
many other parties including licence holders, venue operators, gaming machine
service agents and manufacturers, software vendors as well as telecommunication
and cabling suppliers.
INTRALOT NZ CEO, Dr. Ioannis Katakis
stated: It was a big achievement to complete such a complex project in
such a short period and ahead of time, taking into account its complex
technical aspects, commercial requirements and logistical arrangements in
managing the different external organisations and individuals involved across
the country. INTRALOT literally embraces the globe as it now has the most
eastern installation (Chatham Islands, NZ) and the most western one (Easter
Island, Chile) in the world.
I would like to thank the Department
of Internal Affaires personnel for their support and cooperation, Telecom NZ
for assisting us in developing the optimum telecommunications solution,
the New Zealand clubs and societies for cooperating with us together with the
technical teams from the suppliers of the gaming machines. Last but not least I
would like to thank our technical team in Greece for providing a reliable
technical solution in time for the successful implementation of the
project.
About INTRALOT (www.intralot.com) INTRALOT, a public
company listed on the ASE, is the 2nd biggest supplier of integrated gaming and
transaction processing systems, innovative game content and value added

Lottery Introduces New Pick Family of
Games
ARIZONA, USA (March 2007) --
Beginning today, the Arizona Lottery has
made exciting new changes to The Pick and Fantasy 5. All three Arizona based
drawing games also have revised logos, thus creating a
family of Pick games: The Pick, Pick 5 and Pick 3.
Periodic changes are necessary to
refresh the games and keep them appealing to players. Multiple-player and
non-player research studies have shown a very favorable response to these
changes. The Lottery has made no significant changes to The Pick since 1999 and
no changes to Fantasy 5, other than adding more drawings, since it started.
Changes to The Pick include adding
three balls to the matrix, increasing it from 6/41 to 6/44, eliminating the
bonus ball ($10,000 prize), and increasing the low- and mid-tier prizes from $2
to $3, from $40 to $50, and from $1,000 to $2,000. The annuity term will also
increase from 25 to 30 years.
Although increasing the matrix will
slightly increase the overall odds of winning, it should also create higher
jackpots more often. And sales figures and player research indicate that more
people play with higher jackpots.
Fantasy 5 becomes Pick 5 and the top
$50,000 prize becomes a rolling jackpot so like The Pick, if it is not won, the
prize increases with each subsequent drawing. The new jackpot will start with a
guaranteed $50,000 and increase until it is won. The jackpot also becomes
pari-mutuel, meaning that it will be split equally among multiple winners. The
other prizes, the game matrix (5/35) and all of the odds for Pick 5 will remain
the same.

MDI Extends Deal or No Deal
Agreement Game Has Proven Overwhelmingly Popular
With Lotteries and Players
ALPHARETTA, Georgia, USA (March 16,
2007) -- As Deal or No Deal maintains its number one ranking, lotteries can
continue to offer the popular game to its players now that
MDI Entertainment, a wholly-owned subsidiary
of Scientific Games Corporation (NASDAQ:
SGMS), has renewed its agreement with show's producer Endemol
International.
"In its first season last year,
Deal or No Deal took the country by storm and proved to be a true television
phenomenon," said Steve Saferin, MDI president. "Not in recent history
can we recall a game show with such intrigue, suspense and excitement. It
translates perfectly into an instant lottery game."
To date, more than one-third of
North American lotteries have launched Deal or No Deal instant games with
enormous success. In New Mexico, the $5 game sold out in a record-breaking four
weeks. The second version of the game has remained the lotterys number
one or number two seller in its first four weeks and the lottery plans to
launch a third version of the game in September.
Deal or No Deal has
established itself as one of the top-rated game shows on the air
today, said David Goldberg, president and CEO, Endemol USA.
We are thrilled about our partnership with MDI Entertainment and the
way they have carried the brand into the Lottery category. Weve seen
proof that these games appeal to lottery players and were excited about
this agreement extension.
In Deal or No Deal, players simply
pick one of the cases, which contain between a penny and $1 million, and that
becomes their case. Then they randomly pick among the remaining cases opening
them one by one revealing the prize level he or she cant win. The goal is
to eliminate all but the highest numbers and walk off with $1 million. As the
amounts are eliminated, an unseen banker calls the shows host and offers
the contestant an amount he or she can exchange for their case.
"Cleary, lotteries saw the
potential in this mega-hit game show and jumped at the chance to include the
game in their instant ticket lineup," Saferin said. "There is every
indication that Endemol plans on another season in the fall. Now is the time to
plan for another launch of the game and we encourage the lotteries that didn't
run the game yet to consider doing so.
The popularity of the show is
evident in its ratings. Just this week, during a two-hour special, its ratings
increased 40 percent from the first half-hour of the show to the final
half-hour.

Florida Governor Applauds the Florida Lotterys $17 Billion
Contribution to Education
TALLAHASSEE, Florida, USA (March 20,
2007) -- Florida Governor Charlie Crist today announced the
Florida Lottery has reached a new
milestone in contributions to Florida education $17 billion. The
Lotterys 19-year total has benefited Floridas students and schools,
including fully funding the Bright Futures Scholarship Program. In fiscal year
2005-06, the Lottery contributed $1.22 billion to education, making it the
fourth consecutive year with transfers of more than $1 billion to the
Educational Enhancement Trust Fund.
The Florida Lottery has
once again had a banner year, generating additional funds for Floridas
public education, said Governor Crist. With the money the
Florida Lottery continues to contribute, we will be closer to reducing class
sizes in public schools and increasing funding for state universities and
community colleges. In addition, Lottery funds through the Bright
Futures Scholarship Program will also help provide thousands of high
school seniors the means to further their education.
The details of the Florida
Lotterys contributions to education can be found in the agencys
upcoming 2006 Education Progress Report, which will be inserted in newspapers
across the state on Sunday, March 25. The report card will show the
specific county-by-county (67 school districts) breakdown of how Lottery
dollars are used.
As the progress report states, the
Florida Lottery reached record sales of $3.93 billion in fiscal year 2005-06,
with $1.22 billion going to education. Although Florida Lottery contributions
make up only a portion of the states overall investment in education,
Lottery dollars have been used to help support public schools, including
Classrooms First and Classrooms for Kids programs, which are designed to
construct new schools and add to existing schools. Through this support, more
than 600 public school construction projects have been funded to date.
Additionally, more than 300,000
Bright Futures Scholarships have been awarded, allowing Floridas future
leaders to enroll in state universities, community colleges and workforce
education programs of their choice. Also, more than $124 million has been made
available for other government-funded student financial aid.

 |
We are extremely proud of
this accomplishment, yet we are more committed than ever to continuing our
mission of maximizing profits for the enhancement of education in Florida. To
do this, it is important that we recognize and thank those helping us achieve
the goals set forth by the Florida Legislature: the Lotterys millions of
players, as well as our 13,000 retailers, business partners and dedicated
employees, said Florida Lottery Secretary
Leo DiBenigno.
The Florida Lotterys 213
billboards will reflect the new $17 billion milestone with a facelift over the
next two weeks. Additional information about the Florida Lotterys
contributions to education may also be found on the Lotterys Web
site.
In 1986, Florida voters, by a
two-to-one margin, approved a constitutional amendment authorizing the state to
operate a Lottery for the purpose of generating significant additional moneys
for education. In 1988, the Florida Lottery began selling tickets for games
designed to be a fun form of entertainment, with the added benefit of
supporting education in our state.
