Risto Nieminen Elected the Senior Vice President of WLA
VANTAA, Finland (December 9, 2008) -- Veikkaus’ CEO Risto Nieminen was elected the Senior Vice President of the World Lottery Association (WLA) in the association’s General Meeting in Rhodes at the end of October. Mr. Nieminen acted previously as the Vice President of the World Lottery Association. The association continues to be presided by Arch Gleason, President and CEO of Kentucky Lottery Corporation, USA. WLA is a member organization of state lotteries world-wide. It has 145 member corporations from 76 different countries. Mr. Nieminen is the only Nordic representative in the Executive Committee of WLA.
Veikkaus is strongly represented in the international organizations of the gaming industry: Executive Vice President Jussi Isotalo is the Vice President of the European State Lotteries and Toto Association EL.
We were also successful in the advertising contest of the Rhodes meeting: the WLA Sports Betting Advertising Award was awarded to Veikkaus’ Football Pools advertisement “The Wedding.”
