Tom Hayes former Executive Director of the Ohio Lottery Commission

Biography:

Tom Hayes was appointed Executive Director of the Ohio Lottery Commission effective Jan. 1, 2005 . As Executive Director, he oversees a state agency with sales of $2 billion a year, administering instant and on-line lottery game products through a statewide network of licensed retailers. The agency is charged with maximizing Lottery game profits though its retailer network, for use in public education. As Executive Director of the Ohio Lottery Commission, he also oversees the administration of charitable bingo licensing and monitoring in Ohio .

Prior to his appointment, Mr. Hayes held key administrative roles in state and county government. A seasoned administrator, Mr. Hayes served as Director of the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services from September 2001 until December 2004. Hayes is also a former Cuyahoga County administrator, holding that post from 1995 to 1997, and again from January 1999 through August 2001.

He holds a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in public administration from Cleveland State University .
