DiBenigno |
Biography: Leo DiBenigno was
appointed Secretary of the Florida Lottery by Governor Charlie Crist on January
2, 2007. He previously served in three senior staff roles at the Lottery as
Deputy Secretary, Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs, and Director of
Communications during the administration of former Governor Jeb Bush.
DiBenigno's extensive professional background in government and politics spans
nearly twenty years, and includes serving as Senior Policy Advisor at the U.S.
Department of State, where he directed the public affairs strategy for the
Assistant Secretary of State for Western Hemisphere Affairs. Earlier in his
career, DiBenigno was the Chief Spokesman on the 2000 Florida presidential
campaign of President George W. Bush. He later served as Chief Operations
Officer for Florida's State Technology Office, where he directed the budget,
procurement and personnel activities for the agency responsible for setting
technology standards and policy for state government. DiBenigno received his
bachelor's degree in Government & Politics from the University of Maryland.
