GTECH G2 to Sponsor Fire & Ice 2010

Logo

LONDON, UK (November 3, 2009) - GTECH G2 is the first to commit to sponsoring the biggest iGaming social event of the year, Lyceum Media’s annual Fire & Ice party. GTECH’s new interactive gaming division made its debut to the iGaming industry at EiG this year and has a whole new set of achievements to celebrate at IGE in London in January.

Fire & Ice is held every January as IGE comes to a close and as hundreds of affiliates descend on London for the affiliate conference that follows.  It brings online gambling executives, operators, affiliates, media and suppliers together for a decadent evening of social networking. Fire & Ice returns to Babylonian-themed Gilgamesh in fashionable and trendy Camden market on Wednesday 27th January 2010.

This is the first year that GTECH G2 is a sponsor.  Lottery industry giant GTECH acquired leading software developers Boss Media, Finsoft, St Minver and Dynamite Idea to form their new iGaming division.  Combining the resources of these companies, GTECH G2 launched a radically improved bingo product last month and has just released the most significant update to its casino product ever.  The company is a leader in producing innovative side games and its advanced Gaming Management System gives operators unprecedented control over their offering.

Fire & Ice provides a wonderful opportunity for us to recognize our partners and share our achievements with the industry,” said Wendy Lawrence, Marketing Director of GTECH G2.  “We got so much positive feedback on last year’s Boss Media dinner party at Gilgamesh that we’ve decided to host it there again. GTECH G2 has accomplished so much this year, though, that we decided to have more presence and become one of the official sponsors.”

There’s no such thing as a “free drink,” said event producer Jodie Thind. “Fire & Ice wouldn’t be possible without the generosity and support of our industry sponsors. Thanks to them year in year out, we’re able to put on a great party. At the same time it’s an incredible opportunity for iGaming suppliers to present their brand to the industry, so it works both ways.”

Fire & Ice is a free event for all iGaming execs and sponsorship opportunities ranging in size, including VIP Tables, are now available.

NC Education Lottery Commission Votes to Add Mega Millions

RALEIGH, North Carolina (November 2, 2009) -- Today, the North Carolina Education Lottery (NCEL) Commission unanimously voted to add another national lottery game for North Carolina players. The NCEL is working toward launching Mega Millions sales on Jan. 31, 2010, along with several other U.S. lotteries.

On Oct. 7, the Multi State Lottery Association (MUSL) and the Mega Millions consortium reached an agreement in principle to begin the process for implementation as early as next calendar year 2010, and to work toward the development and implementation of a national lottery game, with an anticipated launch date of late fall 2010.

States that currently sell Powerball and other lottery products will have the opportunity to begin offering Mega Millions tickets to their players via authorized lottery retailers, pending the approval of each jurisdiction’s governing body. The NCEL’s governing body gave its go ahead with today’s vote.

By adding another big jackpot game, our state can expect cross-selling revenues to be 18 to 25 percent higher than current Powerball sales for the first fiscal year or roughly $38 million to $52 million,” said Tom Shaheen, NCEL executive director and MUSL president. “This would mean a return of approximately $11 million to $15 million more for education. If we experience longer jackpot runs than anticipated, these numbers may be higher.

Since inception (March 30, 2006) through Oct. 21, 2009, the NCEL has surpassed $3.95 billion total gross sales with anticipation of surpassing $4 billion in November. The overall tally of funds that the NCEL has generated for the education fund is over $1.25 billion.

German Lottery Company Tipp24 Stable Through the Crisis

n Revenues Up 62.8 Percent to EUR 53.7 million

n EBIT Climbs to EUR 33.1 Million

HAMBURG, Germany (November 2, 2009) - In the first nine months of fiscal 2009, Tipp24 made very successful progress: revenues grew by 62.8 percent to EUR 53.7 (prior year: EUR 33.0) million in the period under review. Compared with the previous year, EBIT more than quintupled: from EUR 6.3 million to EUR 33.1 million. Consolidated net profit improved to EUR 25.1 (4.7) million.

This development was also reflected in Tipp24's share price, which has quadrupled over the last nine months.

Unexpectedly High Gaming Volume In Abroad Segment

As a result of the strong focus placed on expanding the company's international business, revenues in the Abroad segment rocketed to EUR 52.9 (4.2) million. EBIT in this segment grew to EUR 42.7 (-1.6) million.

In September 2009, the UK minority holding MyLotto24 Ltd. offered players the chance to win an exceptionally high jackpot of EUR 31.7 million and soon after paid out the winnings. In addition to income from hedging transactions, an unexpectedly high gaming volume of MyLotto24 Ltd. and a tax credit formed in connection with the large winnings, with an impact on earnings, helped compensate for the negative effect from the winnings payment.

Situation In Germany Still Negative

As a result of the virtually complete withdrawal of our business base following the introduction of the German State Treaty on Gaming, revenues of our Germany segment fell by 91.9% to EUR 2.3 (28.8) million in the first nine months of the current fiscal year. EBIT fell to EUR -9.3 (+7.9) million over the same period.

The company still plans to seek clarification of the legal and political conditions in Germany. Tipp24 intends to utilise all available appeal possibilities to challenge the restrictions imposed by the State Treaty on Gaming. The company was encouraged by the first clear and publicly stated rejection of this State Treaty at federal state level: the governing coalition parties (CDU and FDP) in the federal state of Schleswig-Holstein recently confirmed that they intend to terminate the State Treaty on Gaming at the next possible opportunity.

Dr. Hans Cornehl, Executive Board member of Tipp24 AG, comments: “The State Treaty on Gaming has failed to reach its objectives. This has now been recognised by Schleswig-Holstein's government. In the long term, politicians will not be able to restrict the development of the fast-growing market for online lottery brokerage. We are thus optimistic that we can resume our business activities in Germany in the medium term.

Positive Outlook

In view of the exceptionally high winnings payment in September, the company had reduced its consolidated EBIT forecast by EUR 10 million to at least EUR 30 million for fiscal year 2009.

Tipp24 AG now retracts this restriction and has raised its consolidated EBIT forecast by EUR 13 million to EUR 43 million for the current fiscal year. Revenues are expected to reach at least EUR 73 million, and after income from hedging transactions the total performance forecast amounts to at least EUR 95 million.

About Tipp24 AG:

Tipp24 AG holds equity interests in a number of companies in Spain, Italy and the UK, which enable participation in lottery-based games via the Internet, especially via the websites: www.ventura24.es, www.giochi24.it, www.mylotto24.co.uk and www.tipp24.com. In Germany, the subsidiary Tipp24 Entertainment GmbH operates the games platform www.tipp24games.de.

Since its foundation, Tipp24 AG has brokered tickets worth over 1.5 billion euros to state lottery companies - in recent years over 330 million euros annually. Shares in Tipp24 AG have been traded at the Frankfurt Stock Exchange since 2005. In June 2009, the company was admitted to the SDAX index.

First of Five Pairs of Tickets Won as Lottery Game Sells at Near Record Pace

Teacher wins Patriots Season Tickets for Life

BOSTON, Massachusetts (October 30, 2009) - A Malden school teacher and lifelong New England Patriots fan became the first Massachusetts Lottery player to win Season Tickets for Life after her name was selected from nearly 300,000 second chance drawing entries.

Robin Colarusso of Everett won the fabulous prize in the New England Patriots instant game, the first NFL licensed Lottery game. The $5 instant game – which was introduced by Treasurer Timothy P. Cahill and Robert Kraft, Chairman and CEO of The Kraft Group just two months ago – has already sold more than $40.8 million in tickets.

This is a dream come true for me,” Colarusso said at Lottery headquarters. “I’ve never been to a game before and now I can go to every single one. This is fantastic.”

The New England Patriots instant game features 10 instant prizes of $1 million, 4,250 VIP ticket packages, and unique Patriots merchandise. As the game reaches five sales milestones, Season Tickets for Life will be awarded in separate second-chance drawings. (Visit www.masslottery.com for more details.)

Patriots fans and Lottery players have made this game one of the top-selling tickets of all time,” said Treasurer Cahill, chairman of the Massachusetts State Lottery Commission. “Best of all, we have already raised millions of dollars for local aid for our 351 cities and towns.”

The New England Patriots ticket follows in the tradition of the Lottery’s successful line of sports-themed tickets. Since 2006, the Massachusetts Lottery has sold more than $840 million in sports-themed tickets and raised more than $116 million for police officers, fire fighters, teachers and other essential municipal services.

We would like to congratulate Robin Colarusso on becoming our newest season ticket holder and our first season ticket holder for life,” said Patriots President Jonathan Kraft. “Our goal was to create rewards that would make the Patriots instant ticket one of the most popular games ever and we’re happy to see the tremendous success the scratch ticket has already had in its first few months. The money raised as a result of its success will benefit communities throughout the Commonwealth.”

In another exciting game feature, two bonus drawing winners will have the chance to take home $1 million in the “Million Dollar Drive.” During two separate home games, a contestant will step onto the Gillette Stadium field to pick from 24 hidden prizes on larger-than-life instant tickets. Eight tickets will be worth $100,000; six will be worth $200,000; four others will be worth $300,000; two prizes will be worth $400,000; another two are valued at $500,000 and two grand prize tickets will be worth $1 million.

The layers of prizes in this game are truly unique,” said Lottery Executive Director Mark Cavanagh. “The number and variety of winning experiences in this instant ticket is unparalleled in the industry.”

Led by Manitoba Lotteries’ Canadian Gaming Centre of Excellence, the project will focus on meeting the needs of new and potential employees who are Aboriginal or new Canadians.

A website that lets users learn about casino-related jobs by exploring a virtual casino is among the project’s planned results. Trainers and teaching resources will also be developed by a new national advisory committee.

Other project outcomes include a report on essential skills in Canada’s gaming industry, and additional casino-specific skills profiles that will be used by the human resources industry in hiring and training.

Manitoba Lotteries is uniquely qualified to lead this project, having developed the Canadian Gaming Centre of Excellence to provide educational opportunities in Canada’s gaming industry,” said Manitoba Lotteries President and CEO Winston Hodgins. “The project extends the centre’s work by focusing on essential skills that learners can carry with them to any job.”

The project is a partnership of Manitoba Lotteries, Manitoba Tourism Education Council, Aseneskak Casino, the Canadian Gaming Association, Saskatchewan Gaming Corporation’s Casino Regina and OLG.
