Hoosier Lottery Kicks-off 20th Anniversary
Celebration
INDIANAPOLIS, USA (July 9, 2009) --
The Hoosier Lottery
celebrates its 20th Anniversary this year. The platinum celebration,
which will run through the end of the year, kicks-off today with the release of
a series of commemorative scratch-off games.
The tickets, which range in price
from $1 to $10, celebrate 20 years of winners. Since the first ticket was
sold on October 13, 1989, Hoosier Lottery players have won more than $7.2
billion in prizes. (Yes, that's "billion" with a "b".)
The 20th Anniversary commemorative
tickets will add another $25 million to that $7.2 billion figure. The
series boasts more than $25 million in total prizes.
"With these 20th Anniversary
games we are celebrating twenty great years of winners, said
Executive Director Kathryn A. Densborn. That includes our players, our
retailers and the citizens of Indiana.

celebrate. Since 1989, the Lottery has turned over more than $3.4 billion
to the State of Indiana to reduce citizens' license plate costs and fund
retired firefighters', police officers' and teachers' pension plans.

Lottery Winners Week on Deal or No Deal Starts July
13th
Players Appear All Week on
Daily Version of Game Show with Howie Mandel
ALPHARETTA, Georgia (July 7, 2009) -
A group of lucky lottery players will be in the spotlight on national TV as
contestants on the daily version of the popular game show, Deal or No
Deal starting on July 13th. As part of a multi-state linked game
through MDI Entertainment, a wholly-owned
subsidiary of Scientific Games (NASDAQ:
SGMS), 26 lottery players were chosen to appear on stage in Hollywood with host
Howie Mandel and be on the actual broadcast of the show during Lottery
Winners Week.
20 lottery jurisdictions across the
country participated in the linked game that was tied into Deal or No
Deal instant tickets which went on sale in fall 2008. In addition
to instant cash prizes, players also had the opportunity to win trips to
Hollywood to play a non-broadcast version of the game. A total of 97 players
won the Hollywood trip and $5,000 cash in addition to the chance to play the
non-broadcast game. Deal or No Deal producers then chose 26 players to
participate in the actual show tapings. Although the results of the games will
not be disclosed prior to airing, 5 lottery players did play Deal or No
Deal with the chance to win cash prizes up to $500,000.
Deal or No Deal instant
tickets have been marketed successfully by numerous lotteries prior to this
promotion. MDI had previously implemented a multi-state version involving
chances to win trips to Hollywood and play the game, but this offering marked
the first time players could actually appear on the television
show. This week of television represents the culmination
of a lot of hard work and it was truly a team effort, said Kyle
Rogers, Executive Vice President and General Manager of MDI. We
couldnt ask for better partners than Endemol, NBC / Universal, Howie
Mandel and the lotteries themselves, added Rogers. It was a real
breakthrough for us to be able to collaborate with the entertainment industry
in this way. The national exposure which lotteries will receive is
unprecedented and, at the same time, players were able to enjoy
once-in-a-lifetime experiences in Hollywood.
"We are excited to partner with
MDI Entertainment on this unique opportunity," said Linda Finnell, Senior
Vice President of Programming for NBC Universal Domestic Television
Distribution. "Several lucky contestants got a chance to win a
life-changing amount of money on 'Deal or No Deal' starting with a simple
scratch of a lottery ticket, and that kind of luck is what our show is all
about."

Lottery Exceeds Return to Education Goal With End of Year
Transfer!
Transfer Brings Fiscal Year Total to
Over $410 Million
RALEIGH, North Carolina (July 1,
2009) -- Today, the North
Carolina Education Lottery (NCEL) made another transfer to the state taking
it over its budgeted goal for the fiscal year. The NCEL transferred over $25.3
million for sales in June. This transfer brings the tally for the fiscal year
to $410.8 million and the overall tally from launch to over $1.136 billion.
 |
We are thrilled that we
exceeded expectations for the year and that we could help provide new revenue
to the state especially with the continuing budget crisis, said Tom
Shaheen, NCEL executive director. The ongoing goal for the NCEL is to
maximize sales and raise as much money as we possibly can for North Carolina.
We could not do that without the support of players and lottery retailers
throughout the state.
The NCEL made the electronic
transfer to the Office of State Budget and Management (OSBM) this morning.
The Lottery Act designates that 50
percent of proceeds is to be split between pre-kindergarten programs for
at-risk four year olds and class size reduction in the early grades; 40 percent
to school construction; and 10 percent to college scholarships. For detailed
information on where the money has gone so far, the NCELs 2007-08
beneficiary brochure is available online at nc-educationlottery.org. The
brochure includes county-by-county totals for each of the four programs. The
data is through June 30, 2008 and does not include 2008-2009 Fiscal Year
transfers. A brochure with data for the 2008-2009 Fiscal Year will be available
after the close of the fiscal year.
Since inception (March 30, 2006)
through June 29, 2009, the NCEL has surpassed $3.4 billion total gross sales.
Over 95 cents of every dollar is returned to North Carolina in the form of
beneficiary programs, prizes and retailer commissions.

New South Wales Gaming Market
Teams with eBet
Limited as Distributor and Technology Services Provider
Expects to Commence
Inaugural Field Trial This Week of its Popular Bluebird®2 Gaming Machines
WAUKEGAN, Illinois & SYDNEY
(July 6, 2009) -- WMS Gaming
Inc., a subsidiary of WMS Industries Inc. (NYSE:WMS), today announced that
it will expand the global market penetration of the Companys popular
fully digital Bluebird2 gaming machines with its entry into Australias
New South Wales (NSW) gaming market. New South Wales is one of the
worlds largest gaming markets outside of North America, with WMS
estimating there are more than 94,000 gaming machines located primarily in
clubs and pubs. WMS expects to build market share in New South Wales by
leveraging its broad video reel game library of proven G+®, Innovation and
other well-recognized, player-appealing game themes. Approval from the New
South Wales Office of Liquor, Gaming and Racing to commence the inaugural
Australian field trial in the NSW market is expected by July 10, 2009, with
field trial to begin immediately after approval is received. Pending completion
of a series of required field trials, final regulatory approval for WMS
games and gaming machines in New South Wales is expected by early calendar
2010.
WMS has entered into an agreement
with eBet Gaming Systems, a subsidiary of eBet Limited (ASX:EBT), to serve as
the exclusive sales, distribution and technology services provider for
WMS gaming products in New South Wales. eBet is a leading Australian
gaming supplier of gaming systems, software and networked gaming technology
solutions to a majority of NSW club facilities. In addition to serving as
distributor, eBet will also provide WMS with technical support services and its
established translator and market protocols that will facilitate
WMS product offerings meeting appropriate NSW regulatory requirements in
a timely manner.
In addition to the distribution and
services agreement, WMS will make available to eBet, at eBets discretion,
a 5-year, 8.5% convertible note with proceeds of up to A$3.5 million (US$2.8
million) being deployed to support eBets market growth. The notes will
vest over three years and will be convertible into eBet shares at a conversion
price of approximately A$0.11 per share. Should all of the notes be converted,
WMS would hold approximately 32 million eBet shares or approximately 15% of
eBets current issued share capital. In addition, eBet will grant options
to WMS that will be exercisable at a further premium to present market price
should certain performance metrics be achieved.
Australias New
South Wales gaming market is a meaningful opportunity for WMS to grow our
international presence. Slot players in the NSW market prefer the excitement
and interactive entertainment of video reel games, which aligns well with the
core attributes of our broad product portfolio, said Orrin J. Edidin,
President of WMS. We believe Australian players will appreciate the
benefits of our innovative Bluebird2 platform given the strong, early
acceptance of our Bluebird2 gaming machine in other markets around the world;
and, as players experience the gaming excitement provided by our differentiated
product offerings, we expect to steadily increase our share in one of the
worlds best established gaming markets.
Our strategic alignment
with eBet to utilize their robust technology and systems capabilities
will allow WMS to meet NSW regulatory requirements in an expeditious manner.
eBet has an accomplished management team with extensive gaming experience in
the Australian gaming industry and, with their broad market penetration in NSW,
will support our mutually beneficial growth goals to build WMS share in
this market. Our entry into the New South Wales gaming market with such a
strong partner represents an excellent opportunity to generate incremental
growth and build shareholder value.
WMS is the ideal partner
for us to drive into the Australian gaming machine market, said Tony
Toohey, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of eBet Limited.
We know and understand the market and its customers; and WMS
innovative products will, in our opinion, have very strong player appeal. We
are excited by the opportunity to align eBet with WMS, a globally renowned
innovative gaming company recognized for its investment in leading-edge and
highly creative technology that has produced a consistent stream of products
with unique gaming features, strong player appeal and excellent returns for
gaming venues. We believe this agreement is the first step in eBet building a
strong and mutually profitable relationship with WMS.

Veikkaus Is Swimming Against The Stream
Article By: Article By:
Ilkka Juva, Communications Director, Veikkaus Oy
VANTAA, Finland (July 1, 2009) --
The theory that people would participate in games in a frenzy during times of
economic depression does not hold. In fact, the grim economic situation is
tough even on gaming companies.
We could say that the turnover of
gaming has followed the overall economic trends. The situation is especially
difficult for the world of casinos like Las Vegas and Macao and the
games where you play with high stakes in general but times are not easy
for any other games, either.
Veikkaus constitutes an exception to the
rule: our sales are on a six-percent increase; all the product families are
doing well; and the forecast seems, in fact, better than what was initially
budgeted, as the first half of the year is over. Veikkaus is an exception as
compared with any other operator in the Nordic countries and there are but a
few companies in the whole of Europe that are showing such positive financial
development.
Although the gaming business is a
business of luck, as it were, it is not a matter of luck. This business is done
just like any other business. Measured against any general standard, Veikkaus
is an excellent company. Yet, our very special strength lies in our expertise.
Of our sales transactions, 35 percent take place identified and we have nearly
one million loyal customers. We understand our customers' needs exceptionally
well.

Dog Show, the Second Slot Machine Game Designed by Ingenio, to
be Marketed at Québecs Casinos
MONTRÉAL, Quebec, Canada
(July 8, 2009) Ingenio, Loto-Québecs research and development
subsidiary, is proud to announce the launch of its second casino game, Dog
Show, at Québecs casinos.
This original slot machine game
concept was developed in its entirety by Ingenios professionals, who
handled every step of the process, including scripting, visuals design,
mathematical modelling and programming. Much like the first game Ingenio
launched in the province last February, Hatch the Cash, Dog Show
became a reality thanks to a strategic alliance with
Bally Technologies, one of
the worlds largest game and gaming systems manufacturers.
What sets Dog Show apart from
traditional slot machines is its high-quality graphics and remarkable player
interactivity, not to mention subtle humour that adds just the right touch. For
example, when touching a dog on the screen, players will be pleasantly
surprised to see it react! Three bonus modes, including two inspired by
traditional dog shows, will enliven the players experience.
Dog Show is yet
another great example of the originality and creativity that characterize this
portion of our R&D work, which is intended to bring new life to
casinos game offerings, said Ingenios general manager,
Nathalie Rajotte. Bally Technologies began marketing this second game in
Ingenios casino product line-up in Delaware in early 2009. The game has
followed the same route as Hatch the Cash, which is available at over 130
casinos worldwide, in over 30 jurisdictions from China to South America, from
Europe to the U.S.A.
Twenty-two Dog Show machines
will be set up at Québecs four casinos this summer. A variety of
promotional activities have highlighted their arrival starting June 22 at the
Casino du Lac-Leamy, the Casino de Montréal and the Casino de
Charlevoix. Both Dog Show and Hatch the Cash are also on the floor
of the new Casino de Mont-Tremblant since its opening on June 24, 2009.
