ionoco Broadcasts Pan-Caribbean Super Lotto Game With Innovative New
Internet Technology
LONDON, UK (September 2, 2009) --
ionoco announces today that, in a deal with GTECH, its pioneering low-cost technology,
TV2GO Web, has been successfully used to broadcast Super Lotto the new
pan-Caribbean lottery game. TV2GO Web is a fully-automated system that
broadcasts via the Internet avoiding costly satellite uplinks and expensive
studio editing. This is the first lottery implementation of the proprietary
technology.
Launched on August 28, 2009, the
twice-weekly Spanish-language live show is recorded and broadcast in the
Dominican Republic from the ionoco-equipped Loto Real TV studio and is being
broadcast initially to Barbados, Antigua and St Maarten. Other islands will
follow.
During the show, TV2GO Web records
and uploads the draw footage as a video file to a central file server via a
secure T1 Internet line. This file is then downloaded simultaneously and
automatically by the ionoco TV2GO computers located at the broadcasters in all
participating islands. In Barbados, local production company Crucial
Productions re-records the show voice-over in English as an audio file, which
is pulled down via the same Internet network to the TV2GO computers on each
island. Each of these computers then automatically edits together the video and
audio files of the draw with the opening and closing sequences to create a
complete broadcast quality draw show, which is then played out to air. The
entire process takes less than 20 minutes.
TV2GO Web provides editing
cost-savings as video, audio, and opening and closing sequences are spliced
together automatically, requiring human involvement only to hit the
play button to play out the draws. The system is exceptionally
simple to operate, fully secure, and includes a tamper-proof audit log.
David Walton, Director of ionoco,
says: In TV2GO Web we have created a unique, cutting-edge technology
that will finally make multi-jurisdictional games affordable for many regions
around the world and that can provide huge cost savings for existing
multi-territory game operators.
Erik Dyson, Regional Vice
President of GTECH, adds: TV2GO Web is an impressive example of
ionocos technological capabilities. We are pleased to work with ionoco to
offer televised lottery drawings throughout the Caribbean.
This announcement follows the news
last month of ionocos deal with GTECH to create a complete TV studio
system for Loto Reals new lottery draw shows in the Dominican Republic.
ionoco has an extensive list of
gaming, lottery and gameshow projects under its belt, including BingoLotto in
the UK (Virgin), CasinoJoy Blackjack and Poker (Poker Channel Europe), Deal or

INTRALOT: 1H09 Financial Results Strengthening Its Presence In
Developed Markets
ATHENS, Greece (August 31, 2009) --
INTRALOT S.A., the leading international
gaming company, today announces its financial results for the six month period
ending June 30th 2009, prepared in accordance with IFRS.
Consolidated Revenues for the period
reached 488.0m compared to 547.5m in the same period last year.
EBITDA (Earnings Before Interest, Tax, Depreciation and Amortization) reached
91.1m (126.7m in 1H08).
Earnings Before Taxes (EBT) were
74.6m compared to 112.4m in the first six month period of 2008,
while Earnings After Taxes and after minorities (EAT-am) reached 42.0m
from 60.3m in 1H08.
Revenues for the parent company were
51.4m in 1H09. EBITDA (Earnings Before Interest, Tax, Depreciation and
Amortization) for the period stood at 9.5m, and Earnings After Taxes
(EAT) were 10.6m.
Commenting on 1H09 results
INTRALOTs CEO, Mr. Constantinos Antonopoulos, noted: As a
management team, we are pleased with INTRALOTs results in the first six
months of the year since the Company is on track with our expectations for the
full year 2009 profitability. This has been accomplished amidst a global
economic recession coupled with adverse FX movements in some of our
international operations and increased start-up expenses. It is important to
note that 2Q09 is the first full quarter that the new Turkish betting contract
is operational, rendering the comparison with 1H08 more difficult, but however,
providing a much more stable earnings base for the next years.
In July, the Ohio Lottery,
a very large scale project in the US, commenced operations very successfully on
an INTRALOT system. A second important project, in Europe this time that will
begin operations within the next month is in Holland. Finally, an operation
that commenced recently, marking INTRALOTs entrance in a new era, is
Internet poker in Italy. We are very excited about the idea of offering games
through the Internet in countries where online gaming is permissible by local
legislation and this was the reason for establishing a separate entity,
INTRALOT Interactive, to take advantage of such opportunities. INTRALOT
Interactive (I2) is working hard in seeking opportunities in this business in
several countries.
Concerning new developments
during the 1H09, INTRALOT has increased its market share in the North American
market through the award of two new contracts, in the states of Vermont and
Arkansas, reaching 11 contracts in the country, 5 of which have been awarded in
2009. Therefore, there is a backlog of 6 contracts in the US that will commence
operations within the next quarters. This is a very significant achievement for
the Company, indicating its leading-edge technology and competitiveness in a
very big market.
Moreover, we have recently
implemented an internal program to streamline our organization and consolidate
our operations on a global basis, the positive effects of which should begin to
appear in the first quarters of 2010.
Finally, INTRALOT continues
to monitor closely upcoming privatization projects, new opportunities arising
in the Internet gaming market and seeks strategic acquisition
opportunities.

Lottery Sales Set Record in Fiscal Year 2009
ROSEVILLE, Minnesota (August 20,
2009) -- For the second consecutive year, Minnesota State Lottery ticket sales set a
new record. Sales reached $481.2 million in fiscal year 2009 (July 1, 2008
June 30, 2009), an increase of $19.7 million, or 4.3 percent, from 2008.
Record scratch game sales led the increase, ending the fiscal year at $324.9
million, an increase of almost $27.0 million, or 9.1 percent. Sales of lotto
games (such as Powerball®) totaled $156.3
million, down $7.2 million, or 4.4 percent, over the previous year due
primarily to the lack of large Powerball jackpots.
Minnesota is one of a
handful of states that set a new sales record for the past year, said
Lottery Executive Director Clint
Harris. Our players reacted positively to the wide variety of
scratch games and exciting second-chance drawings that were offered during the
fiscal year.
Prize payments to players were a
record $295.1 million, while the Lotterys hard-working retail partners
earned a record $28.9 million in commissions and incentives for selling Lottery
products. This is an average of $9,682 per business.
Lottery sales generated $119.6
million for state projects and programs, which is up $3.3 million, or 2.9
percent, over last year. The Environment & Natural Resources Trust Fund,
Game & Fish Fund and Natural Resources Fund received $53.5 million, while
$64.7 million was transferred to the General Fund.
The Lotterys mission
is to generate revenue for Minnesota, Harris said. We work
hard to maximize the contributions for the many important programs that benefit
from this money.
Since its inception, the Lottery has
raised more than $1.7 billion for state programs. The General Fund has received
over $1 billion to help fund important functions such as education, public
safety and health and human services. Another $677 million has funded critical
environmental programs.

Multi-Jurisdictional Super Lotto Game Launches In Eight Caribbean
Countries
New Game Will be Available
to Nearly 13 Million Players with Guaranteed Minimum Jackpots of US$2 Million
GTECH to Provide the
Technology Platform for Super Lotto
PROVIDENCE, Rhode Island (August 28,
2009) A coalition of four Caribbean lottery operators today introduced
the first draw of Super Lotto a progressive jackpot game being offered
in the Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Barbados, Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda,
Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Maarten, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Four lotteries are the exclusive
distributors of Super Lotto in their respective jurisdictions:
Loto Real del Cibao C por A in the
Dominican Republic, Supreme Ventures Lotteries
Limited in Jamaica, the Barbados Lottery
in Barbados, and the Caribbean Lottery in Saint Maarten, Anguilla, Antigua
and Barbuda, Saint Kitts and Nevis, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
GTECH Corporation is providing the
technology platform to integrate the sales in each jurisdiction with
state-of-the-art systems and networks to ensure the security and integrity of
the game.
Super Lotto is based on
the concept of successful multi-jurisdictional games like Powerball, Mega
Millions, and EuroMillions, said GTECH President and CEO
Jaymin B. Patel. With an
initial rollout in eight countries, our goal is to build a strong foundation
for Super Lotto and then introduce this game in additional countries, to create
even bigger jackpots. By putting these individual lotteries together, we are
now able to offer players lottery jackpots that were not possible in the
past.
The Super Lotto game will start with
an initial jackpot of US$2 million, and be converted to each local currency.
The Super Lotto drawings will take place twice weekly, on Tuesdays and Fridays,
during a live broadcast in the Dominican Republic from the studios of Loto
Real. Video of the drawings will be sent via satellite to the other
participating countries for local transmission. Super Lotto prizes will then be
collected in the country where the winning ticket was sold. Sales from the new
game will benefit the jurisdiction where the game ticket was purchased.
To play Super Lotto, players will
select five (5) of 35 numbers and a Super Ball which is drawn from a
separate pool of 35 numbers. A player can become a Super millionaire by
correctly selecting all five drawn numbers and the Super Ball. Secondary prizes
will also be available for correctly selecting a variety of different
combinations with the five drawn numbers and the Super Ball.
This new game will help
meet a long unmet demand by our players, said Supreme Ventures Ltd.
Chairman Paul Hoo. By working together with other lotteries in the
region, we are now able to give players what they want a big jackpot
game with the highest levels of security, integrity, and
entertainment.
We are very excited to
join forces with our consortium partners in bringing a new and innovative
product with superior technology that sets a strong and unique precedent across
our Caribbean Basin region, said Loto Real del Cibao President Jose
Bernardo Guzmán.
To manage the game, the operators
have formed a Super Lotto committee, and have worked closely with GTECH to
formulate this new game. The committees main functions are to integrate
and oversee the operation of the game; ensure the long term viability of the
game; guarantee the prize payments; and ensure payment to each government of
its share of game sales.

State Fair Sales Break Last Year's Record
More Than a Quarter Of A Million Dollars In Prizes
Claimed
CHARLESTON, West Virginia (September
1, 2009) - Lottery sales at the West Virginia State Fair broke last years
record by 10 percent, according to Lottery Director John Musgrave. He said instant ticket
sales were nearly 7 percent higher than last year.
Musgrave said overall sales for the
nine-day event totaled $251,221. Of that, $240,150 represented sales of instant
game tickets, placing the State Fair in the number one slot among retailers
statewide selling the instant scratch games in August. He said nearly $292,000
has been claimed so far, and that doesnt include low-tier prizes
cashed by statewide retailers.
In nine days last year, the
State Fair sold five times the number of instant tickets than our number two
retailer sold in an entire month; this year, they sold six times more instant
tickets than the number two retailer, said Musgrave.
He said Joes Market in St.
Albans ranks second for August instant game sales, having generated $39,200.
Musgrave said factors affecting
sales included a near-record Powerball jackpot, which always has a significant
impact on interest and overall sales.
But we cant overlook
the sheer number of people who attend the fair, as well as the lottery
promotion that is run in support of the fairs sales effort. Winners from
more than 140,000 promotional tickets given away by the Lottery, as well as
those won from tickets purchased from the fair, started rolling in a week
ago.
While all the fairs prizes
under $601 are claimed at lottery retail locations, Musgrave said top game
prizes claimed so far by the Lotterys office in Charleston include a
$100,000 The Price Is Right® top prize, claimed by a resident of Fincastle,
VA; two $2,000 prizes from Baa Baa Bucks claimed by residents of Rainelle and
Cyclone; a $1,000 Veterans Cash prize won by a Huntington resident; two
$3,000 Triple Dog Dare prizes claimed residents of White Sulphur Springs and
Beckley; as well as a $1,000 Wet & Wild Ones prize won by a resident of
Tazewell, VA.
Since the fair was just
over Aug. 22, those prizes will be coming in throughout the coming
months, Musgrave said. Lottery rules state that winners have 180 days
from a drawing or the declared end of an instant game in which to claim prizes.

Sept. 8th
NEW ORLEANS, Louisiana (September 1,
2009) - Collect all three exciting designs today!!!
Less than a week before the New
Orleans Saints' first regular season game, the
Louisiana Lottery Corporation will launch
a Saints game of its own - a $5 scratch-off emblazoned with the team's marks
and logos. It hits retailers on Sept. 8.
"The highlight of the New Orleans
Saints scratch-off game isn't just its top instant prize of $100,000,"
explained Lottery President Rose Hudson. "Players who don't win a cash prize
can send in their tickets for the chance to win once-in-a-lifetime fan
experiences through a series of four second-chance drawings being conducted by
the Lottery."
During the first three second-chance
drawings, two finalists will each win official Saints merchandise prizes,
including an autographed jersey, football or helmet.
Also in each of the first three
drawings, one winner will be awarded a 2009 Ultimate Saints Fan Experience that
includes four Club Sideline tickets to a designated Saints home game, access to
Saints VIP Clubrooms at that game, a parking pass, four pre-game field passes,
one-night accommodations at a downtown New Orleans hotel (two rooms), a $200
dinner allotment at a designated downtown New Orleans restaurant for four
people and $500 spending cash.
During the fourth and final drawing,
one winner will be awarded the 2010 Ultimate Saints Fan Experience that
includes four Plaza Sideline 2010 season tickets, 2010 parking pass, four 2010
pre-game field passes, a tour of the Saints practice facility, lunch with the
Saints' head coach in the team's cafeteria for up to four people, an
autographed Saints football and an autographed Saints helmet.
"We know our customers love cash
prizes, but considering the Saints' sold-out season, we anticipate this game's
second-chance drawings will be equally as popular since they feature
'experience prizes' that money can't buy! It's truly the ultimate game for the
ultimate Saints fan," she said.
The Lottery entered into a
sponsorship agreement with the Saints in July, and the second-chance drawing
prizes were provided to the Lottery as part of that agreement.
"When you combine two great
Louisiana brands known for fun and excitement, you have a winning
combination," said Hudson. "We believe the $5 New Orleans Saints
scratch-off will be a sell out."
The game includes 900,000 tickets
with three different Saints scenes. The cash payout percentage for the New
Orleans Saints scratch-off is typical of the Lottery's $5 product, and the
second-chance drawing prizes are lagniappe. As with all Lottery games, 35
percent of sales is transferred to the state, earmarked for public education.

Lotterywest Has 100 Million Reasons To
Celebrate
PERTH, west Australia (September 2,
2009) - Lotterywest has recently celebrated an
historic announcement in its grants area; a record milestone of over $100
million given in the 2008/09 financial year in direct grants to more than 1000
charity and community groups around Western Australia.
In addition to the $102 million in
direct grants, over $127 million was given to statutory recipients in the
health, sports and arts sectors, bringing the final contribution to the Western
Australian community to $229 million.
St Bartholomews House, a local
accommodation facility that provides stable, supportive and safe environments
for people at risk of homelessness, was the group that clocked over
the $100 millionth grant.
In a special celebration event at
the Perth Town Hall in July, St Bartholomews House along with nine other
community and charitable groups were selected to receive their grant cheques
and a unique gift from the Premier of Western Australia, in the company of 200
special guests, mainly from the social services sector.
The celebration event also provided
a platform to launch Lotterywest history book, A Proper Foundation,
celebrating our recent 75 year anniversary.
The title of the book, A
Proper Foundation was derived from a quote by the speech made by then
Minister responsible, John Scaddan back in 1932 when he introduced the Bill
which established the originally named Lotteries Commission of Western
Australia.
Lotterywest enjoys a direct
relationship with the Western Australian community and its in-house grant
making role is unique in Australia.
Thanks to the profits derived from
the sale of games such as Lotto and Scratch'n'Win, Lotterywest is able to
support a wide variety of not-for-profit, community based proposals that
enhance the lives of Western Australians throughout the state.
Since the establishment of
Lotterywest in 1933, over $3 billion has been given back to the community as
direct grants to charitable and community groups and in statutory funding to
the health, sports and arts sectors in Western Australia.
We would like to thank
everyone who has ever played Lotto or bought a Scratchie, said
Lotterywest CEO, Jan Stewart.
Every time someone buys a
Lotto ticket or a Scratchie here in WA, theyre supporting
some very special Western Australian community organisations.
